The worship service is printed in this worship folder for you to follow along and participate. You’ll notice that the service is a dialogue between God and us, his people. The pastor speaks to God along with the congregation and also speaks the Word of God to the people. Those wishing to leave an offering can do so at the exit today or give online at GraceLutheranSAZ.org/give. (You can also scan the QR code to the right to access the online giving page.)
Today we are using elements from the Christian Worship hymnal. If you would like to worship from a hymnal today, you will find these blue worship books in the hymnal racks in each row; however, you do not need to use a hymnal if you so choose, as everything needed for worship is printed in this worship folder.
OUR WORSHIP
SERIES SAY IT OUT LOUD
The season after Pentecost features what Christ teaches, and Christians in every vocation are encouraged to say it out loud. The truths of God’s Word are good for the soul, useful for life, and more reliable than anything else in the world. Watch out for false teachers who come with wise sounding words and pious promises, but who do not base everything on the Word of God! Give thanks to the Lord for faithful servants in the ministry of the gospel and those who support them!

OUR THEME FOR TODAY GOD LOVES SINNERS
They never forgot their past. Moses never forgot how he killed a man in a fit of anger. Paul never forgot how he had savaged the Church of God. Matthew never forgot how, as a tax collector for the Roman Empire, he was considered a traitor to his people.
But God forgot their past. He forgave all their sins and called them to proclaim his mercy. Christians are sinners whom God has mercifully called. Only mercy can explain why Jesus brings people to faith and promises them salvation. Only grace can explain how he calls them to serve as they are able, even in the ministry of the gospel. God loves sinners.

CONFESSION OF SINS
God invites us to come into his presence and worship him with humble and penitent hearts. Therefore, let us acknowledge our sinfulness and ask him to forgive us.
Holy and merciful Father, I confess that I am by nature sinful and that I have disobeyed you in my thoughts, words, and actions. I have done what is evil and failed to do what is good. For this I deserve your punishment both now and in eternity. But I am truly sorry for my sins, and trusting in my Savior Jesus Christ, I pray: Lord, have mercy on me, a sinner.
FORGIVENESS OF SINS
God, our heavenly Father, has been merciful to us and has given his only Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. Therefore, as a called servant of Christ and by his authority, I forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 6 and Luke 11 record how Jesus taught his disciples to pray. We use his example prayer as part of our public worship, trusting that he will hear and answer our prayers.

Sunday Morning Bible Study—Paul’s Pastoral Letters
The Apostle Paul wrote 3 letters to young pastors about ministering among God’s people. The words in these books are especially useful for pastors, but all Christians will find encouragement for godly living from Paul too. If you have not made Sunday morning Bible study a part of your routine, this is a great time to start! Join us on Sunday mornings in the CLC gymnasium at 9:00 AM to grow in your faith.
AZ/CA District Convention: June 8-10
Pastor Kassulke, Pastor Koehler, and Pastor Scheuerlein will be attending the WELS ArizonaCalifornia District Convention this coming Monday through Wednesday, June 8-10. The opening service for the convention takes place on Monday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tempe, and the business of the convention, which also includes a keynote speaker and devotions, takes place at the Arizona Grand Resort in Tempe. Thank you to Grace’s President, Eric Hanson, for serving as our lay delegate to the convention. Isla Faith Heiman
Congratulations to Xander Heiman and his wife, Lexi, who welcomed a newborn baby girl into the world on Friday, May 29. Isla Faith Heiman will be baptized on Sunday, June 14, and proud grandparents Pastor Ryan and Mrs. Laura Heiman are planning to be there for the happy occasion! Xander will be finishing up his vicar year this summer at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in College Station, Texas. After that, he will have his final year at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary. God bless Isla and her whole extended family!
Father’s Day Barbeque: June 21
The fathers and kids of Grace Lutheran Church and the Child Learning Center are invited to a Father’s Day celebration on Sunday, June 21! A BBQ here at our Grace-Sahuarita location will begin at 11:30 AM. We will be honoring dads with a variety of smoked, grilled, and bbq’d meats as well as sides, paired with flights of beer and/or bourbon. There will also be a bounce house for the kids!
