If you’re tired of your relatives arguing over gun control consider the case of Robert Meilhammer of Maryland who was hunting geese near Miles River when one of his friends shot a bird which then fell out of the sky, hit poor Robert on the head and knocked him unconscious. He also lost two teeth. And this wildlife report can only be topped by a 2016 incident when a hunter killed a bull elk in Oregon’s Maury Mountains. The poor guy used his four-wheeler to drag the elk’s body up a hill, the vehicle flipped over, and the hapless hunter rolled backwards and impaled himself on the elk’s antlers. Talk about a rough day. Perhaps you’ve grown weary in listening to the debates regarding the legalization of marijuana. If so, then take a deep breath and inhale the news report from York County, Nebraska, where an elderly couple was pulled over for erratic driving. While the police had them stopped the cop dog went a little crazy so the officers looked and found 60 pounds of pot in the vehicle. The aging couple claimed that they were going to give out the weed as Christmas presents. The drug crisis is real and there’s no joking about such a terrible plague, but if you want a short break in the terrifying statistics you might consider the problems of Al-Rumahiya, Saudi Arabia. The folks of this town have a camel beauty contest where the dromedaries are paraded down the main drag and the judges choose those with the best lips, cheeks, heads and knees. This year a dozen of the beasts were disqualified when it was discovered the owners had injected their camels with Botox to make them more attractive. A book came out last week laying out a great deal of research on world happiness. Among its findings was the fact that you are 97% less likely to be killed by a bolt of lightning than your ancestors.
