FOR THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY SEASON Around 1.4 million appraisals have been done at Antiques Roadshow production events since the show’s first Tour in 1996. Appraisers on Antiques Roadshow are volunteers who generously pay their own travel expenses and donate their time and expertise to be a part of the show. Antiques Roadshow expert John Buxton is well-known among fans for identifying fakes and using those appraisal moments as teaching opportunities to help fans better understand these objects. The most valuable Antiques Roadshow sports memorabilia was appraised by Leila Dunbar who gave a $1,000,000 value for an 1871-1872 Boston Red Stockings archive (featuring photographic baseball cards and player letters) brought to the New York City Roadshow in 2014. Expert Lark Mason, who has appeared on Antiques Roadshow since season one, holds the distinction of being the only appraiser brought to tears by the magnificence and rarity of the item being appraised: a Tang dynasty marble lion.

Simply said, we are thankful for you. In fact, at GPB thankfulness isn’t reserved exclusively for the fourth Thursday in November. At the heart of everything we do remains a sacred bond between our company and the thousands of donors who give what they can to ensure our progress. I often say that public media pioneered the concept of crowdfunding. From the beginning the literal existence of this educational, enriching and often life-changing content has been ensured by the individuals that consume it. That includes you! It is that spirit of thankfulness that led us to include our annual report in this issue of GPB Next. Contained within the pages of this magazine are the names of hundreds of individuals who give at w levels to ensure that GPB can continue to serve all of us — regardless of whether we can give or not. At that point, Snoopy decides to cook his own version of a Thanksgiving meal with help from his friends.
Brown and the Peanuts gang as they return to GPB for the holiday season with classic specials airing ad-free on PBS and PBS Kids as part of an
agreement with Apple TV+.

cross the country, Native people are regaining health and strength through the recovery and revitalization of traditional knowledge systems of land, language, traditional arts and health. Growing Native, a new four-part
series airing throughout November, highlights shared experiences to help bridge a better understanding of Native people. Through conversations between hosts and local guides, viewers get a glimpse of modern and traditional reservation life and learn how Native people pass on their experience and wisdom to others in a positive way. Viewers will also learn how Native communities are working toward sustainable food sovereignty and renewable energy sources, and how they are adapting to impacts from climate change.
