TK Maxx presents Southampton Summer Sessions is delighted to return to Guildhall Square in summer 2026, bringing a series of unforgettable live music events to the city. This guide provides key information, including build schedules, soundchecks, and traffic management arrangements.

KEY INFORMATION
BUILD AND DE-RIG
Preparation of the concert site will begin on Sunday 7th June, with all de-rig works completed by Thursday 2nd July.
Standard working hours on site will be: 08:00 – 20:00
Please note that following each event, there will be overnight activity including site maintenance, stage work, and litter collection. All crew are instructed to minimise noise wherever possible.
SOUND MANAGEMENT
Southampton Summer Sessions operates under a strict sound management plan, overseen by an independent acoustic consultancy.
If you have any concerns during event days, please contact the Resident Phone Line, where your query will be logged and addressed.
TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT
We are working with Design TM to implement traffic management measures throughout the concert series.
On concert days, road closures will be in place to create a safe, pedestrian-friendly environment for audience entry and exit.
The following roads will be affected: Commercial Road, Above Bar Street, West Marlands Road, Gibbs Road & Park Walk

ABOVE BAR STREET
We have been made aware that Southampton City Council in partnership with Balfour Beatty (an external construction company) will be carrying out major works on the Above Bar/Civic Centre/New Road junction through the duration of the Southampton Summer Session’s events. Balfour Beatty are closing Above Bar Street at its junctions with Civic Centre & New Road 24 / 7. For more information on these road closures, please visit the Southampton City Council website.

Why is there activity on site before and after the concert days?
Due to the scale and complexity of the event, sufficient time is required to safely build and dismantle the concert infrastructure.
Will there be fireworks?
No fireworks will be used during the event. However, some performances may include stage pyrotechnic effects which do not produce loud noise.
Will there be additional security at the event?
Yes. A professional, accredited security provider will be in place throughout the concert series to ensure the safety of attendees and the surrounding area.
Will Guildhall Square be open throughout the concert series?
During the build, non-show days, and de-rig periods, some areas of Guildhall Square will be temporarily inaccessible.
However, access to local businesses and university buildings will be maintained at all times.
On concert days, Guildhall Square will close from 08:00 to allow for safe event preparations.
