Sports, Arts, Parks & Farms: Exploring South Fulton’s Many Charms 6 Million Copies PLUS: Southside Summer Fun, $0 and Up

The ATL Starts Here
There’s a certain Southside feeling that you get the moment you land here in the District. It’s a flavor, a color, a vibe. In the cities surrounding Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, you’ll find it in the minority-owned restaurants, authentic art scene, historic architecture and lively community events. It’s painted on walls and chalked on sidewalks throughout College Park, Fairburn, Hapeville, South Fulton and Union City. No matter where you’re from or how you got here, you’re invited to soak it in.
All the fun, none of the hassle
Despite its relaxed attitude, the ATL Airport District is raising the bar on Atlanta’s celebrated efficiency and convenience. First, the District is even closer to Atlanta’s airport than Atlanta is, with thousands of hotel rooms offering complimentary airport shuttle service, plus the free 24/7 ATL SkyTrain from the airport to Gateway Center Campus and rental cars. Everything you need is accessible either on foot, by MARTA, or with an easy drive: restaurants, shopping, art, music, theater, attractions, activities and sports. Being located at the convergence of several interstate highways has its advantages, too, like access to Atlanta neighborhoods including Downtown, Midtown, Decatur, Buckhead, Perimeter and beyond.
Lots to do in the District
Walk mural-lined main streets, take in history old and new, and catch a show or sporting event all within the District. Don’t miss the one-of-akind attractions, beautiful parks, playgrounds, skateparks, historic golf course, and invigorating yoga and wellness studios. And thanks to temperate year-round weather, the District is always alive with festivals and events. Check the calendar at ATLdistrict.com for classic car shows, family festivals, music events, holiday celebrations and more—almost all free to attend.
A deep-rooted, genuine and inclusive community, College Park is Atlanta’s gateway to the world. The city offers the best of Southern hospitality with more than 5,000 hotel rooms and an ample supply of eateries, from homegrown to high class, including cuisine from the American South, Jamaica, Mexico, Japan, Thailand, West Africa, New Orleans and beyond.

Three celebrated teams call College Park’s Gateway Center Arena home: the Atlanta Dream (WNBA basketball), the College Park Skyhawks (NBA G-League) and LOVB Atlanta (women’s professional volleyball). Pro Tip: Fans traveling by MARTA can get off at Airport Station and take the free ATL SkyTrain across to the Arena, day or night.
• WALKABLE DOWNTOWN offering food and public art
• FIRST STOP ON MARTA from airport to Atlanta and everywhere in between
• GEORGIA INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION CENTER and Gateway Center Arena

In the shade of endless pines, along mile upon mile of wide-open two-lane highways, the City of South Fulton nestles unpretentiously into the southwestern quadrant of Atlanta’s sprawling metro area. A city both new and old, South Fulton comprises a 92-square-mile territory of unusual size and shape, nearly 700 acres of which is dedicated to peaceful, well-maintained public greenspace.
South Fulton’s world-renowned facilities for sports, arts, leisure and agriculture are contained within borders so intricate and far-reaching that South Fulton abuts at least seven di erent cities. Many are surprised that this little powerhouse has maintained such a low profile, but in a way, this befits the South Fulton community, who seem united in a culture focused on pragmatism, duty, and taking care of one another. But as the most recent addition to the ATL Airport District, South Fulton is overdue for some recognition as an up-and-coming destination. Here’s an overview of what this tremendous little city has to o er.
Arts and Entertainment
The arts take center stage at South Fulton’s iconic indoor and outdoor performing arts destinations, the Southwest Arts Center and Wolf Creek Amphitheater, respectively.
Visual and performing arts soak up the spotlight at

Southwest Arts Center, whose spacious theatre is surrounded by active galleries and art exhibits yearround. The facility maintains an active performance season of professional theatrical productions, while also developing future talent through youth programs, community classes, and a public art installation program. cityofsouthfultonga.gov
At the open-air Wolf Creek Amphitheater, tucked into 435 acres of woods, up to 5,240 guests at a time enjoy live music concerts, plays, performances, and festivals throughout the May-to-September performance season. This unique facility o ers several seating options, including lawn seating, reserved seating, table seating, and twin VIP Skyboxes o ering access to private bathrooms, patios and additional facilities. wolfcreekamphitheater.com
The Wolf Creek Golf Club o ers members access to a private 18-hole course. Its picturesque treelined fairways, deep bunkers, and high slope rating demand both creativity and perseverance from golfers. wolfcreekgc.com
Tennis greats like Christopher Eubanks, Donald Young and Taylor Townsend have trained at the South Fulton Tennis Center. More than a sports facility, this is an active community hub o ering clinics, lessons, camps and tournaments at every level. Its 19 hard courts, four clay courts and four
pickleball courts can be reserved based on availability. cityofsouthfultonga.gov
Tom Lowe Trap, Skeet, And Sporting Clays Range is a safe and scenic place to learn, practice and enjoy recreational shooting. Its seven trap fields, 12 skeet fields and 12-station sporting clay course are open to the public, and shooters can rent, buy, or bring their own firearms. The facility offers weekly beginner clinics, private and group lessons, and fun group outings for parties and company team building. atlantaskeetshooting.com
South Fulton takes pride in its greenspace, and Welcome All Park & Natatorium is the jewel in its crown. It’s much more than a park, with indoor and outdoor amenities too numerous and varied to list, including a gymnasium and indoor track, workout equipment, playgrounds, pavilions and picnic tables, trails, tennis and basketball courts, meeting rooms, indoor lap pool and splash pool, and more. However, what makes this facility truly noteworthy is its extensive list of programs from South Fulton’s parks and recreation department. In addition to numerous lessons, leagues, camps, classes and clubs for all ages, Welcome All is home to the award-winning Ballin’ with a Purpose Workforce Academy program, which identifies and invites at-risk youth to play basketball, learn trade skills, and access opportunities for gainful employment. cityofsouthfultonga.gov
Farm-based businesses contribute to local food systems, healthy economies and community markets, and South Fulton’s wholehearted embrace of its agriculture industry has allowed for the creation of unique farm- and ranch-based attractions.
Enon Ranch is a scenic 70-acre ranch and event venue. Its stables, gardens, outdoor recreation, and spacious gathering spaces provide an unforget-

table backdrop for weddings, corporate retreats, festivals and events. enonranch.com
JD’s Horse Ranch is a small country barn offering riding lessons and trail rides for all levels of horseback riders. Friendly guides and welcoming staff ensure visitors feel like real cowpokes. jdshorseranch.com
Your Faith Farms is an active and productive 31-acre family-owned farm offering guided horseback trail rides. The farm’s specialties, grass-fed beef and lamb, feed directly into the city’s emerging agricultural and local food ecosystem.
The Southside community loves a get together, and the proof is on South Fulton’s calendar.
Speaking of the local food ecosystem, South Fulton’s vibrant Farmers Markets bring local growers to the table each month, along with handmade goods, prepared foods, and unique local products.
South Fulton goes all out with its annual celebrations, providing ample free opportunities for residents and visitors to get out and have a great time at events like Chalk the Block, Juneteenth, Taste of South Fulton, and Azúcar Music Fest. The list goes on at cityofsouthfultonga.gov/calendar.
Whether you’ve worked up an appetite enjoying all that South Fulton has to offer or imported your appetite from out of town, you’ll find plenty of satisfying dining options throughout the city.

Beyond what’s visible to the outside visitor, South Fulton possesses a sense of community and authenticity that comes from its unusual status as both a new city—incorporated just nine years ago— and an old community, composed of neighborhoods settled centuries ago. The incorporation of these diverse areas into one official municipality was born out of economic friction and a desire for better representation, and this recent cooperative effort is perhaps why South Fulton’s government and residents seem in lockstep when it comes to efforts to serve and support the community. Progress in the city has been rapid, leading to this year’s decision to become part of the ATL Airport District. The partnership marks a new level of investment in South Fulton’s tourism and leisure industry, allowing the city’s many attractive assets—including Crestwood Conference Center, a versatile 9,000-square-foot luxury event venue—to join forces with those in nearby College Park, Fairburn, Hapeville, and Union City as one irresistible, accessible, cohesive and allinclusive destination for business, leisure, group and sports travelers from all over the world.

A new exciting destination is helping redefine fun in the city of Fairburn. Swing ATL has quickly become one of the area’s most talked-about attractions, blending mini golf, axe throwing, food, music & social experiences into one colorful outdoor venue.
Located on Senoia Road, Swing ATL offers more than just games. It delivers an atmosphere of glowing swings and bright murals. Themed mini-golf holes and photo-worthy setups provide an atmosphere to create memories as much as entertainment. Families, couples, friends & corporate groups get to team up and have a blast. What makes Swing ATL stand out is its ability to combine recreation with culture and community. Officially opened in 2023, the owners transformed what was once a used car lot into a lively entertainment hub.
“We really wanted to redefine entertainment in South Atlanta. Swing Mini Golf isn’t just about putting; it’s a VIBE! We’re a full-scale social hub where you can enjoy friendly competition, try axe throwing, or relax with a cold beer. Every corner from the water features to the Instagram-worthy backdrops is designed to be an absolute experience. We’ve loved creating this vibrant getaway right in your backyard!”, said coowner Richard Taylor.
The 18-hole mini golf course is the centerpiece of the experience, featuring vibrant colors, playful themes and scenic design elements including

waterfalls & lounge areas. Food trucks and drinks add another layer to the experience. Visitors consistently praise the welcoming customer service and upbeat environment. Many guests describe Swing ATL as the perfect location for birthdays, girls’ nights, family outings or social media-worthy events due to its colorful aesthetic & open-air layout.
Beyond entertainment, Swing ATL represents growth for Fairburn and the District. As more people seek unique local experiences outside Metro Atlanta, venues like Swing ATL help drive attention & tourism toward surrounding communities. It has become an example of how creative entrepreneurship can bring new life and excitement to suburban areas while creating spaces where people can gather, celebrate and connect.
The venue’s relaxed but energetic vibe also reflects a shift in what people are looking for in entertainment today. Guests no longer want only traditional nightlife or routine activities; they want interactive experiences that feel immersive, social and visually engaging. Swing ATL successfully taps into that demand by offering a space that feels both playful and modern. For Fairburn residents, it is a point of pride. For visitors, it’s a hidden gem worth the drive. As Atlanta’s entertainment scene continues expanding beyond downtown, Swing ATL proves that innovation, creativity, and community-centered experiences can thrive anywhere.

Summer 2026. Temperatures? Approaching 100°. Gas? Four bucks and rising. Mosquitos? Utterly remorseless. Many in Georgia are feeling the squeeze this year, mainly in our quads as we struggle to unstick the backs of our thighs from our vinyl upholstery. Nonetheless, the vibe is upbeat in the District, because thanks to our many a ordable hotspots, there’s no better place to chill this summer.
Free & Cheap Activities
One of our favorite things to enjoy under the Southern sun is air conditioning, but that’s not even what we love most about the Delta Flight Museum, a wonderland of colorful exhibits celebrating aviation, history, and the history of aviation. This is a favorite of adults and kids, with a STEM Kids Zone and air tra c control slide to help littles get the wiggles out.
The Hapeville Depot Museum is another cultural destination worth adding to your list. Open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. every Wednesday through Saturday, it’s bursting with local history—and it’s adjacent to Jess Lucas Y Teen Park, one of the District’s delightful greenspaces.
Of course, as much as we love museums, splashing season is in full swing. Float through the District with options for all ages:
Hapeville Splash Pad – Open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. through early September. Free.

Charles Phillips Park Splash Pad – Open Monday through Friday, 4–8 p.m., and Saturday from 10 to 5 until around Labor Day. Free.
Duncan Park Pool & Splash Pad – Open swim Monday through Saturday, 1–6 p.m. Admission is $6 for adults, $4 for kids and seniors. Children 2 and under swim free.
Welcome All Natatorium – This massive indoor

pool with its big covered slide is the ideal solution to any rainy summer day. Admission is $6 for adults, $4 for kids 3–12, and $2 for non-resident seniors. Children 2 and under and City of South Fulton residents 55+ swim free.

There are beaucoup free District events scheduled this summer, so mark your calendar (and check ours for updates: ATLdistrict.com/events). Here are a few we’re looking forward to:
