My Mind On My Money & My Money On My Mind My Money On My Mind

MY MONEY ON MY MIND
MY MIND ON MY MONEY & CENTRAL MESSAGE
This message kicks off the Money Matters series, reminding us that money isn’t just a financial issue, it’s a spiritual one. Money affects not only our wallets but also our walk with God. Jesus talked more about money than almost any other topic because He knew it has the power to either magnify our faith or master our lives.
Most people live paycheck to paycheck and carry the weight of debt and stress. Pastor Jason challenges the church to stop being discipled by culture when it comes to money and start being transformed by Christ. The key truth is simple: you will never have your mind free if your money is in bondage.
To renew our financial mindset, we must make three shifts:
1. Ownership
Everything belongs to God
Psalm 24:1 says the earth and everything in it belongs to the Lord That means every paycheck, every possession, every plan. We are not owners, we are managers. Every spending decision is a spiritual decision. The right question is not “What do I want to do with my money?” but “Lord, what do You want me to do with Yours?”
Closing Challenge
2. Stewardship
Stewardship is about faithfulness 1 Corinthians 4:2 says that managers must be found faithful God cannot trust us with more if we are not faithful with what we already have. The parable of the talents teaches that faithfulness unlocks increase while mismanagement guarantees lack. God blesses those who manage, invest, and multiply what they are given.
3. Lordship
The final shift asks the question, Who is really in charge?
Matthew 6:24 makes it clear that we cannot serve both God and money We can have both, but only one can be Lord Christ should rule over every financial decision, because whatever sits on the throne of our hearts will eventually dictate the balance of our eternal account.
Renewing your financial mind means asking the right questions:How can I honor God with my finances? How can I bless my family and build legacy?
This series will teach us how to break free from debt, live within our means, build wealth, leave an inheritance, and give generously. Transformation begins in the mind, and when your mind gets renewed, your money will reflect it.
MY MONEY ON MY MIND
MY MIND ON MY MONEY & CENTRAL MESSAGE
Ownership says, “It’s all His.”Stewardship says, “I’ll be faithful.”Lordship says, “Jesus is in charge.”
When we live that way, money stops being our master and starts being our ministry.
My mind on my money, my money on my mind, but both submitted to the Master.

Reflection
“DO NOT BE CONFORMED TO THIS AGE, BUT BE TRANSFORMED BY THE RENEWING OF YOUR MIND”
Money is on our minds almost every day—bills, groceries, giving, saving, planning. But what if the problem isn’t in our wallets, it’s in our mindset? God is not after your money, He is after your mind, because how you think about money determines how you handle it.
Jesus spoke more about money than almost any other topic because He knew that money has the power to either magnify your faith or master your life. The truth is simple yet strong: you will never have your mind free if your money is in bondage.
When we start renewing our financial mind, everything begins to change. It’s not just about budgets and bank accounts, it’s about heart posture and kingdom perspective.
Three Shifts for a Renewed Financial Mind
1. Ownership – “It’s not mine, it’s His.” Psalm 24:1 reminds us that the earth and everything in it belongs to the Lord That means your paycheck, your car, your clothes, and your savings all belong to Him Every spending decision is a spiritual decision Stop asking, “What do I want to do with my money?” and start asking, “Lord, what do You want me to do with Yours?”
2. Stewardship – “I will be faithful.” God calls us to manage what we have well First Corinthians 4:2 says, “It is required that managers be found faithful ” Before we ask God for more, we must show Him we can handle what we already have The parable of the talents reminds us that increase comes through faithfulness Mismanagement guarantees lack, but stewardship attracts more
3. Lordship – “Jesus is in charge.” Matthew 6:24 says we cannot serve both God and money You can have both, but only one can sit on the throne When Christ is Lord over your finances, peace replaces pressure and purpose replaces greed What sits on the throne of your heart will always show up in the balance of your account

SCRIPTURE FOCUS
Romans 12:2 (CSB) — “Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.”
Opening Thought
Money is a mirror. It reflects not only what we value but who we trust. In this study, Pastor Jason challenges us to shift our thinking about money from cultural patterns to Kingdom principles. The goal is not to feel guilty about what we have or do not have, but to invite God into how we think, plan, and live financially.
Study Objective
1. Ownership – “It’s all His.”
Key Verse: Psalm 24:1 (CSB) — “The earth and everything in it, the world and its inhabitants, belong to the Lord.”
Study Insight: When we realize that everything we have belongs to God, it changes how we handle it. Every purchase, investment, and act of generosity becomes spiritual. Ownership reminds us that we are not the source; God is.
Reflection Questions:
1.What area of your finances do you struggle to surrender to God?
2.How might your decisions change if you truly believed your money belonged to Him?
3.When was the last time you prayed over your spending or saving habits?
Life Application: Before making any financial move this week, pause and pray, “Lord, what do You want me to do with what belongs to You?”

Study Objective
2. Stewardship – “I will be faithful.”
Key Verse: 1 Corinthians 4:2 (CSB) — “In this regard, it is required that managers be found faithful.”
Study Insight: Stewardship is about management, not ownership. God measures our faithfulness, not our fortune. The parable of the talents (Matthew 25) reminds us that increase follows integrity. Mismanagement closes the door to blessing, but faithfulness opens it.
Reflection Questions:
1.How have you seen faithfulness bring increase in your life?
2.In what ways can you better manage what God has already given you?
3.How does your current budget reflect your values and faith priorities?
Life Application: Review your spending for the past 30 days. Highlight where your money went toward needs, wants, and Kingdom purpose. Pray over what needs to shift.
3. Lordship – “Jesus is in charge.”
Key Verse: Matthew 6:24 (CSB) — “No one can serve two masters, since either he will hate one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”
Study Insight: Money is a wonderful servant but a terrible master. When Jesus is Lord, money becomes a tool for ministry rather than a source of stress. The question is not whether you have money, but whether money has you.
Reflection Questions:
1.How can you tell when money is beginning to master you?
2.What financial decisions are you currently making without seeking God’s guidance?
3.How would your peace level change if you trusted God to lead every financial step?

Lord, renew my mind when it comes to money. Teach me to see all I have as Yours, to manage it with faithfulness, and to submit it under Your Lordship. Let my finances reflect Your character, my stewardship reveal my faith, and my giving demonstrate my gratitude. Transform my mind so that my money becomes a ministry. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Key Takeaway
Ownership says, “It’s all His.”Stewardship says, “I will be faithful.”Lordship says, “Jesus is in charge.”
