INTRODUCTION

• Gordon’s School is the National Memorial to British war hero, philanthropist and martyr, Major-General Charles George Gordon (1833-1885), and was founded in 1885 when it began existence as ‘Gordon Boys’ Home’ for necessitous boys.

• Within our Elite Performance Netball Programme (EPP) we provide selected netball players (aged 16-18) with the opportunity to pursue their chosen academic pathway alongside their netball ambitions.

PASSIONATE ABOUT SPORT, SERIOUS ABOUT EDUCATION

Gordon’s Scholars are expected to act as ambassadors for the programme, demonstrating commitment, character, and professionalism both on and off the pitch. Selection is earned through effort, behaviour, and contribution across school life. Sport is not a moment, but a sustained commitment throughout Sixth Form, reflecting both individual growth and the strength of the programme.

SENIOR NETBALL PROGRAMME

• Gordon’s Netball programme provides you the opportunity to become the best netballer you can be, offering both high-level competition and a supportive environment that develops you as a whole person alongside your academic studies and wider sporting development.

PRE-SEASON

• Netball training and Athletic Development sessions in August

• Gordon’s U18 Pre-Season Invitational Tournament

IN-SEASON TRAINING

• One Netball Technical Training session each week (Monday evenings).

• Two Athletic Development sessions a week:

- One with the Elite Performance Programme netball squad

- One during a free period alongside athletes from other sports.

• One weekly skills or unit-work session (during a free period).

• Video analysis sessions on an ad-hoc basis.

COMPETITIVE

FIXTURES

• Two squads make up the Elite Performance Netball Programme, with each squad competing in its own national competition:

- Sisters n Sport Cup

- Sisters n Sport Shield

• Squads for the following national competitions are selected from EPP:

- England Netball National Schools Competition

- Independent Schools’ League

- Independent Schools’ Cup

• Whilst the EPP runs across all three terms, Gordon’s also fields four additional senior squads during the Spring term. These teams compete in weekly fixtures against independent schools, ensuring players receive appropriate match play, court time, and continued development opportunities.

PHYSIOTHERAPY

• Full time physio on site to diagnose, treat and rehabilitate athletes.

VIDEO ANALYSIS

• All matches are recorded and footage is uploaded to VEO.

• Weekly analysis sessions led by coaching staff and players.

IDPS

• Termly 1:1 completion of Individual Development Plan (IDP) with a specialist netball coach, including technical, tactical, physical, and psychological targets to support each player’s progression throughout the

PROFESSIONAL CLUBS

• Gordon’s School is proud to be in partnership with London Pulse as the home venue for the Pulse Power NPL Academy. Through this partnership, Gordon’s students benefit from a range of elite development opportunities, including:

- Masterclasses delivered by Netball Super League players

- Friendly fixtures against Pulse and Power NPL academy squads

- Access to NSL match tickets

The Head of Netball also supports and facilitates links with London Pulse and wider representative netball opportunities.

We are equally proud to have students representing a range of franchise academies and actively encourage every athlete to pursue the pathway and opportunities best suited to their individual development and ambitions.

JAYDA PECHOVÁ

When Jayda joined Gordon’s for Sixth Form, she was playing for London Pulse U19’s. During her time at Gordon’s, Jayda was selected for England and captained the U19 side at the European Championships. She also made her NSL debut and was selected for the England Future Roses Programme, proving that outstanding achievements can be balanced alongside A-level studies with dedication and hard work. As a Gordonian, we are proud to continue to watch Jayda thrive in the Netball Superleague with her current club Nottingham Forest Netball, whilst gaining her degree from the University of Bath.

KEY STAFF

NICOLE HUMPHRYS HEAD OF NETBALL

Premier League netball playercoach Nicole Humphrys heads up all 26 netball teams at Gordon’s School. During her playing career, Miss Humphrys represented Severn Stars, Surrey Storm, and Team Bath in the NSL, and in her younger years, represented England at U19 and U21 level.

Miss Humphrys studied Sport Science at The University of Bath where she made her Superleague debut at WD alongside Gordonian, Eboni Usoro-Brown at GD. Miss Humphrys is also a UKCC Level 3 qualified netball coach, working as a technical specialist within London Pulse Power, as well as serving as Deputy Director of Sport and a qualified PE teacher at Gordon’s School.

AMY FRIPP SENIOR NETBALL COACH

Amy Fripp studied Sports Science at St Mary’s University and has an MSc in Physiotherapy from Kings College London University. Alongside working in the NHS, Miss Fripp plays regional league netball; having represented Surrey Storm U21 as captain previously. Miss Fripp has coached at Gordon’s for the last four years and, during this time, has been influential in the 1st team’s success, helping the school make history at national finals.

SHARON MOHER SENIOR NETBALL COACH

Sharon Moher is a UKCC Level 2 qualified netball coach, who has worked at Gordon’s for 5 years. In this time, Mrs Moher has developed the most successful lower school netball squad to date, achieving Gold at the World School Games at U13 level and finishing 3rd in the country in the SnS National Cup at U15 level. Alongside coaching, Mrs Moher is also a B award umpire and assessor.

JORDAN ROSE HEAD OF ATHLETIC DEVELOPMENT

Mr Rose is an accredited strength and conditioning coach with the UKSCA who holds a BSc in Applied Sport Science from Solent University, and is currently completing an MRes in Sport, Health, and Applied Science at St Mary’s Twickenham. Before joining Gordon’s, Mr Rose spent seven years working in professional sports academies with athletes from U9 to U21 age levels, at clubs like Ealing Trailfinders RFC, London Irish RFC, Arsenal Women FC and Watford FC. Mr Rose has a desire to develop aspiring athletes, and his CV incudes athletes that have made full senior debuts and even senior international appearances. Mr Rose has joined Gordon’s to provide the scholars with the physical ability to exceed the demands of their game, and give them the physical tools to compete at the highest level.

ROHAN MOON ATHLETIC DEVELOPMENT COACH

Mr Moon studied Sports Science at the University of Lincoln and holds an MSc in Strength and Conditioning from Loughborough University. Since graduating in 2023, he has worked as a Strength and Conditioning Coach in the private school sector and academy sport environments, most notably with Harlequins Rugby and Middlesex Cricket, supporting high-performance athletes across a range of sports. At Gordon’s, Mr Moon’s role is to provide elite-level support to the Rugby ACE squad and Sports Scholars, helping them to maximise their physical performance and development.

MAC DANIEL PHYSIOTHERAPIST

Miss Daniel is a Chartered Physiotherapist, with a particular interest in MSK physiotherapy and sports rehabilitation. During her studies at the University of Birmingham, she provided physiotherapy support for their First XV Mens’ Rugby Team, and after graduating joined the medical team at Millfield School where she notably worked with their high-performance athletes across a variety of sports. Additionally, she has RFU’s PHICIS Level 2 qualification to provide immediate and emergency care, a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sports Massage, and attended multiple sports taping courses.
