Lamentations 3:22-26: “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord.” On August 1, 2009, A pastor from our church preached from these Scriptures. I know only because I outlined the Scripture, wrote His name down, and dated it in my Bible. Now, 11 years later, I may not remember exactly what our pastor preached, but I know He preached from the Word of God. It was the message that I am sure our pastor had prayed over and the Holy Spirit had divinely inspired him to preach that day. Next to verse 26, I had written in my Bible the words “depend on Him.”

Depend on whom, you might ask? Who or what do you depend on in your life? Who or what has never let you down? I am afraid that I have probably let a lot of people down in my lifetime. I am so thankful that the Lord forgives me when I fail, and I pray that others do also. Sometimes the hardest words to say are, “I am sorry.” I feel when they are said from the heart that there is room for great forgiveness, love, and healing. There is no better time than now to find that healing in your heart. Jesus is as close as a prayer, and He wants you to find your hope in Him.

Let me encourage you to re-read those Scriptures as I did today and find your renewed hope in the mercies of the Lord.
