This world is full of issues that we need prayer (Matthew 21:12-13). Sometimes we will have to do to ask this question of: racial injustice, a virus pandemic, unemployment, poverty, religious conflicts, etc. What would happen if we all took those four words seriously and put them into action? I believe we would see a world of difference. It also will help us if we knew what Jesus did. The most important thing that He did was spend time in the presence of God. There are four things that Jesus did that will help us answer this question for our own lives.
• Be Still and Know that I am God (Psalm 46:10).
Jesus often withdrew to lonely places to be with the Father (Luke 5:16). He got still before the Father and entered into a personal time of devotion to the Lord. He got away from the hustle and bustle of His busy life. For me, it means going outside early in the morning or late at night. I will often sit there with just the sounds of the birds singing in the morning or the crickets chirping at night. We need to sit in silence and listen, but sometimes we need to pour our hearts out to God.
• Pray to God.
Matthew 14:23 states, “After He had sent the crowds away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray; and when it was evening, He was there alone.” Not only did Jesus get still before the Lord, but He prayed. It is through prayer that we ask the Lord, “What would Jesus do?” 12 // August 2020

We will find our answers in the secret place. It’s the things that we can’t find that will often be revealed (Jeremiah 33:3). These things are revealed in His presence, but first, we have to slow down and be still.
