Welcome Peasant!
This is Spamalot! It’s Camelot, but with a lot more Spam?? No one really knows. Maybe you’ve wandered into our little Camelot because you’re a fan of Monty Python and the Holy Grail, in which case I hope we don’t disappoint! Maybe you’re a fan of the legend of King Arthur, in which case we will disappoint! Or maybe you’re here because you are a teenager, know a teenager, or hope to one day grow up to be a teenager, in which case I’m very glad you’re here!
In a musical comedy loosely based on a cult film which is loosely based on a legend which is loosely based on history, it can be hard to find depth of meaning. However, when I read Spamalot, I immediately drew parallels to the young men of Gonzaga and the plight of the modern teenager. Too deep for Monty Python? Maybe. It could be the influence of my daily 12-hour immersion with said young men… However, Spamalot is ultimately the story of a ragtag group of boys attempting to be the strong and courageous knights society expects them to be; even though they are often scared, lonely, uncertain and using bravery to mask their true selves. These knights are encouraged to “Find Your Grail” and through that journey (helped, of course, by some intelligent women along the way!) discover that their true grail is their most authentic self.
I’ve been blessed to have a cast of 57 actors in this show – the largest in my time at Gonzaga so far (including 22 new to GDA)! They have done an incredible job of bringing these iconic characters to life and adding their own personality and creativity to each role. I have also been blown away by our stage crew as they built towers and very large…oh I won’t give it away! It has been a group effort to direct, clothe, and choreograph this giant company, and I’m grateful to my team: Andrew Curtin, Meghan Goldsmith, Kimberly Notarianni, Sean MacCarthy-Grant, and Mia Gullo, without whom none of this would have happened!
Most importantly, I’m grateful to you! Thank you for supporting the arts and all it does for these students. Theatre is a source of joy, community, and connection amidst an often isolating and troubling time in our world. I hope this evening helps you look on the bright side of life!

Mr. Andrew Curtin ‘01, HoF ‘15 (Assistant Director) is very proud of all the students for their hard work on this show, and grateful to the production staff for their tireless efforts. Above all, a thousand thanks to his wonderful wife Anna and spectacular son Brennan for their love, support, and patience with the demands of high school theater.
Mrs. Meghan Goldsmith, HoF ‘18 (Producer) is delighted to be back in the fray for this latest quest on Eye Street. Having survived many productions of old, she is happy to report hta she is “not dead yet” and she truly cannot imagine having a better time making this gift of theater anywhere else. A massive thank you to Kate, Andrew Nathan, Sean, Mia and Kimberly fr their unwaivering dedication and for being the best knights a producer could ask for. To the students in the cast, crew, band and house crew (all 1,000 of you): your tireless efforts in bringing this ridiculous world to life spark geniune joy (and only a minimal amount of peril). To the seniors: whether this was your first quest or your eighth, you have left an indelible mark on the history of Gonzaga’s theater - we are so lucky to have spent this time together. Last but certainly not least, love and thanks to Paul, Sarah and Allan for their friendship and guidance; to her amazing husband Dan for ensuring she eats actual food instead of junk, and to her three wonderful kiddos - Matt, Katie & Emmy - for being her absolute favorite reasons to return to the castle at the end of the day. Oh, and also for the stuffed animals. Enjoy the show!
Mr. Sean MacCarthy-Grant (Music Director) (he/they) is a pianist, percussionist, educator, and composer from Seattle, Washington. He has been heard nationally and internationally in ensembles such as the Maryland Symphony Orchestra and the Smithsonian Masterworks Jazz Orchestra, alongside greats such as Louis Hayes, Midori Goto, Camille Thurman, Nic Roleau, and Cyrus Chestnut. His compositions have been premiered by ensembles such as the American Modern Ensemble and by members of the US Army Band, and he is currently a first year teacher at Wise High School in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Sean carries a mission of lifelong learning and the constant development of one’s voice towards a powerful musical identity.
Ms. Kate Griffith (Director) has loved looking on the bright side of life with this incredibly talented group of actors and stage crew! She is so proud of what they have accomplished and will miss them terribly when it’s over. She is grateful to have such a supportive and professional team without whom none of this would be possible: Andrew, Meghan, Kimberly, Sean and Mia! Her recent directing credits include: The Outsiders, Mary Poppins, and The Curious Incident…. She has a Masters in Theatre Education and has been directing, producing, and teaching drama for 15 years. She also teaches Geometry and Algebra 2 at Gonzaga, moderates Gonzaga’s Improv Club “No Boys Allowed,” and tap dances (but not as well as Jafar-I!).
Madonnina Gullo (Choreographer) is a Western New York raised performer/ choreographer and a graduate of The Catholic University of America in Washington DC where she earned a Bachelors of Music in Musical Theatre. She most recently was a Choreography Fellow under Chloe O. Davis for the world premiere of Little Miss Perfect at Olney Theatre Center. She has also assisted choreographer Nikki Mirza on projects
at Shakespeare Theatre Company Academy and Catholic University. She has taken on projects as choreographer for Olney Theatre Center’s Musical Theatre Intensive and Stuart Hobson Middle School with the goal of creating intricate and technique based musical theatre choreography to challenge young artists. She has loved working with the cast, crew and artistic team of Spamalot!
Mr. Nathan Nichipor (Technical Director) is so proud of all the hard work this cast, crew, and production team put into this fun-filled production of Spamalot! Nathan is a Helen Hayes winning performer and has been working professionally, both on and offstage with multiple Regional and community theatres in a variety of positions and also works as a Teaching Artist and Music Director at Imagination Stage. Nathan graduated from Catholic University with a Bachelor of Music in Musical Theatre, while also exploring technical theatre and design and various forms of directing. Regional Acting Credits: Petite Rouge ( Imagination Stage - Helen Hayes for Best Ensemble); Footloose, Nunsense A-Men (Next Stop Theatre); Memphis (Little Theatre of Alexandria). Other Regional Credits: So Late into the Night (Music Director, Rorschach Theatre); Hunchback of Notre Dame (Co-Choreographer, City of Fairfax Theatre Company); American Idiot (Keys 2, OnCue Theatre); AstroBoy (Master Electrician, Flying V Theatre); Ride the Cyclone (Master Electrician, Next Stop Theatre); Monstress (Master Electrician, Flying V Theatre). Other Credits: Ride the Cyclone (Lighting Designer, Centerstage CUA); Bright Star (Lighting Designer, Levine Music Theatre). Mrs. Kimberly Notarianni (Costumer) is thrilled to be celebrating her 10th season as fearless Costumer to the noble knights, questionable peasants, killer rabbits, and assorted coconut-clappers of the GDA. She has spent the last decade proving that a well-placed sequin can, in fact, solve almost anything. This season, as we journey to the delightfully absurd world of Spamalot, Mrs. Noti has fully embraced the medieval madness: equal parts glittering divas, gallant knights, dubious Frenchmen, and peasants who could all use a good wash. Sparkles? Of course. Chainmail? Naturally. Questionable historical accuracy? Absolutely. Mom to Spencer (’17) and Maddie Rose (SR ’19), she has officially logged more hours on campus than either child. Her one unbreakable commandment remains: “Thou Shalt Not Eat in Costume.”(Punishment may involve laundering.) However, she does maintain a highly classified “emergency candy reserve” in the costume cage-purely for morale purposes. Donations to the royal treasury are always welcome. She promises parents that by the end of a GDA career, every performer will know how to properly hang up a pair of trousers (a skill rarer than the Holy Grail itself). After each performance, she may be heard proclaiming, with great authority, “GO HOME!”-a directive issued with love… and exhaustion. A special fanfare of trumpets (and perhaps a shrubbery) to Dr. Noti for his steadfast patience with late nights, hot glue mishaps, rogue feathers, wandering rhinestones, and a soundtrack currently heavy on show tunes and medieval revelry.

Lily Acuna (Knights Who Say Ni) is a junior at Stone Ridge. She enjoys participating in girl scouts and in cross country. Volunteer work is a huge passion of hers. This is her second show at Gonzaga and she has had a blast being in it and making friends!
Thandiwe Allsopp (Mayor) is excited to participate in her third Gonzaga performance! Previously, she performed in 12 Angry Jurors, Hello Dolly!, and Mamma Mia.
David Angus (Sir Bedevere; Bass Section Leader) is performing in his first show with the GDA. A melomaniac and fashion designer, he thanks everyone who encouraged him to the GDA. He’s just happy to be here, and even happier he didn’t have to build the giant wooden rabbit.
Gavin Bennett (Chamber Guard 2) is a senior in his first year in the GDA. He is very excited to participate in his first musical. In his free time he enjoys photography and playing football. Next year he plans on extending his academic and athletic career at Hampton University. He also hopes you enjoy the show!
Cali Borja (English Guard 2; Alto Section Leader) is so excited to be in her first show at Gonzaga! She has acted in many shows at DCI, including High School Musical Junior, Mamma Mia, Alice by Heart, and many more. She has had so much fun working with a new cast, in her role as a guard and helping as the alto section leader. She hopes you enjoy the show!!
Sam Boyce (Minstrel) is thrilled to join this amazing production. Previous roles include Pharaoh in Joseph, Fagin in Oliver!, and Mercutio in Romeo & Juliet. Offstage, he loves good books, volunteering with Scouts and church, and being not yet dead. Thanks to his family and friends.
JJ Brady (Chamber Guard 1) is a senior performing in his first-ever show. He figured he’d better join the GDA before graduation, or they’d make him guard a real castle. He excels at standing still and looking vaguely important. He thanks his parents for finally letting him out of the basement.
This is Caroline Buckley’s (Laker Girl) last and best GDA show. She would like to thank the directors, and especially Mrs. Goldsmith, and the cast and crew for making this show extra special. An extra special thanks to her parents and @MaggieCampione and #LucyNoyes for always being great. Enjoy the show!
Gloria Burkhardt (Patsy) is a senior at Visi and Spamalot is her fifth and final show with the GDA. She wants to thanks the cast and crew for all their hard work making this show as amazing as it is! She is so glad that she had a chance to be part of the GDA and will always remember the family she made here!
Maggie Campione (The Lady of the Lake) is a senior at Visitation and she can’t believe this is her last ever GDA bio! Like always, she wants to thank her friends, family, and Caroline Buckley, and she hopes her legacy at GDA lives on through Megatable and Valentines Day. AJ Capati (Head Minstrel; Tenor Section Leader) is making his stage debut in Spamalot this year. After years of sticking to other activities he decided it was finally time to try something new and see what theater was all about. Thanks for coming & thanks mom!!
Jack Carle (Minstrel) is thrilled to be in his second show with the GDA. He has performed in 12 Angry Jurors, and many middle school plays as well. In his free time he likes to play football and baseball. He hopes that everyone enjoys the show!
Michael Carmody (Sound Assistant) is excited to be in his first show with the GDA. He loves to eat fried chicken sandwiches (occasionally) in his free time. He hopes everybody has a good laugh and enjoys the show!
Gianna Colosi (Laker Girl) is a junior at Visitation and is so excited to be in her first GDA production! She thanks her friends and family for always being there for her and the cast for being so welcoming and enjoyable! She hopes everyone enjoys the show!
Christian Cuenco (Dead Body/French/Finnish/Other) is absurdly excited to appear in Spamelot as the internationally acclaimed Finnish Man #2 (yes, the second one). Previous GDA credit includes Hello, Dolly! in the ensemble. He thanks his parents, family, and friends for their support.
David G. Curry III (Props Master), a trained actor, born and raised in P.G County Maryland. The second son of three boys, David has always had a love for acting. Acting experiences: VEEP, “An Inspector Calls”(Shakespeare Theater, DC), Eggland’s Best Commercial, and countless other projects, including VO.
Austin Darke (Finnish Man 1) is a freshman who began singing, dancing, and acting at age four. He’s signed in his church’s Hands Praise ministry, appeared in The Jungle Book and Newsies, and most recently in OBT’s The Nutcracker for 6th year. He is excited for his debut with the GDA.
Archibald De Gregorio (Trombone) has been playing the trombone for seven years. He is the first chair trombonist in the MBHS Symphonic Band and Marching Band. This is his first time participating in a musical theater production.
Drew Dunlap (Not Dead Fred; Prince Herbert) is so hyped to be in his fifth GDA production. He would like to thank his friends, family, cast, crew and directors for their support during this process. He hopes that everyone enjoys this amazing show!
This is Nora Durcan’s (French Knight) second show at Gonzaga (8th show ever) but her last, as she’s a senior. She loves to bake (follow @nora.bakes.cakes on insta) and after graduation she plans to go to college and get 500 connections on LinkedIn. Shoutout to Lily’s parents for driving her home from practice so much!

Tselot Efrem (Historian) is elated to be in her second show at GDA! Some of her previous shows include Mamma Mia!, Hello Dolly!, & Hamlet. She loves baking, writing, & hanging out with friends. She’d like to thank her family and friends for their support!

Esme Fisher (Knights Who Say Ni) is very excited to be in Spamalot! In her free time she loves to play the flute and violin. She was in the ensemble for Hello, Dolly! last spring and had a wonderful time. Esmé would like to thank the audience for coming to see this production and sincerely hopes that they will enjoy it to the fullest.

Sam Gmyr (Co-House Manager) is excited to help in his fourth show. He enjoys Varsity Rowing and participating in Campus Ministry events. He also enjoys biking.
Hazel Gonzales (English Guard 1; Laker Girl; Soprano Section Leader) is excited to be in her second show (and sadly the last) with the GDA. Previous shows include Hello Dolly! with GDA and The Wiz and The Lion King with her school’s theater. Hazel is so grateful for all the friendships and relationships she was able to find through the GDA. She loves to go shopping, spend time with friends, and go to concerts. PJ Hall (Run Crew; Props Master) has spent the production helping with props and perfecting the art of “not writing a bio.” A vital member of the run crew, he is often seen moving furniture or avoiding anyone with a pen. He hopes you enjoy the show, mostly so people will stop asking him for 50 words about his life.
Izzy Hampton (Laker Girl; Dance Captain) is super duper excited for her final show with her fantastical older brother before he graduates! She thinks he’s the coolest guy ever and she’s gonna be lost without him. She’s ready to pick up the torch from where he leaves it, so enjoy the show! Judah Hampton (Black Knight; Knights Ensemble) is excited to perform one last time with the GDA before he graduates! He’s going to miss his little sister sooo much and he’s going to be so lost without her. He hopes you enjoy the show! (Written by his amazingly cool little sister, Izzy)
Hadley Harmer (Laker Girl) is excited for her first GDA production! Previously, she performed with Bishop O’Connell High School and NOVAPA Teen Conservatory. Favorite roles include Collister (Ghostlight) and Susan (The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe). She thanks her family and the GDA cast and crew for their support.
Katie Hearne (Laker Girl) is a sophomore at Georgetown Visitation and is excited to perform in her first GDA show! Outside Gonzaga, she has done many community theater productions, her favorites being Matilda, Frozen, and The Sound of Music. She hopes you enjoy the show!
Anna Kalitka (Frenchie Knight) is so excited to be in her first musical at Gonzaga. She has done many other shows before at other schools like Mamma Mia and Beauty and the Beast. She loves Monty Python and is so thankful she has the opportunity to be in this show. She especially thanks her parents and all the people that helped run this hilarious show!!!
Dylan Kennedy (Co-House Manager) is working his 6th show as a part of the House Crew, 2nd as manager. Outside of the play, Dylan is a captain of the crew team, along with a leader of the Sports Broadcasting Club. Thanks to everyone for being here!
James Kilavos (Run Crew) is a freshman here at Gonzaga. He is part of the fencing team, speech and debate club, robotics club, and Eagles for a Cure club. He has done stage crew at his old school, and he really loves being at Gonzaga.
Kevin Knowles (Knights Ensemble) is very happy to be on stage, performing with many new friends in this wonderful production. Spending time playing guitar and skateboarding, the GDA has been a fruitful addition to his life. Thanks to everyone for being here to support all of us.

This is Xander Meese’s (Dennis Galahad’s Mother) first time acting for the GDA. Props to Judah and Layla for getting him into theatre. Thank you to Mom, Dan, Maryn, Adler, Asia, Aunt Laryssa, June, Grandma and Grandpa Meese, Layla, Tilly, and the Hamptons for always being there for him!

He plays Rugby, waterpolo, and is on the swim team. He is grateful for everyone who has come to see him perform.
Bea Misch (Voice of God; Sister Maynard) is a sophomore at Georgetown Visitation and is excited to be a part of this magnificent production of Spamalot with the GDA. She has loved participating in theatre since sixth grade but most recently she’s performed in Hello, Dolly!, The Outsiders, and 12 Angry Jurors at Gonzaga. Bea enjoys skiing, baking, spending time with her friends, and occasionally playing the Almighty. She would like to thank her wonderful carpool drivers, her Visi sisters, Rico’s chicken, her favorite shlapping fish, her gorgeous best friend, and all those she meant to thank that are not included above. Jafar-I Moore (Assistant Choreographer & Tapper) is excited to participate in his second show with the GDA. His first time as assistant choreographer has been a very educational experience. He has enjoyed sharing, teaching and indulging in his love of tap dance with his peers.

Samantha Oti (Bass) is a senior at Stone Ridge. After collecting various shows under her belt, she’s now returning for a bittersweet second season to help close out her 6th-12th grade theatre career. “Thank you, and enjoy the show!”

The Rabbit (Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog) is thrilled to make its GDA debut. A method puppet of the highest caliber, it has spent weeks in a dark box sharpening its felt teeth. It thanks the audience for looking so delicious and warns that while it may look “cuddly,” it has a remarkably high body count for something made of polyester.

Molly Ryan (Head Knight of Ni) is a senior at Georgetown Visitation and is excited to be making her debut acting appearance in Spamalot! Besides acting, she loves reading, playing piano, and playing tennis. She plans to attend the University of Alabama in the fall.
Clare Schwalb (Laker Girl) loves to perform for GDA, her first show being Hello, Dolly! She has been in other productions at Visi, like Mamma Mia and Descendants, along with being a member of their dance team. She’s so excited to continue with GDA!

Fitz Tobias (Sir Lancelot) is in his sixth and final show at Gonzaga before attending Tulane University next fall. He would like to thank his friends and family for all of their support.
Johan Torres (Prince Herbert’s Father; Knights Ensemble) is a senior at Gonzaga College High School. He is excited to be doing his last show at Gonzaga and hopes that everyone enjoys the show! He thanks his family, friends, and directors for their endless support throughout his theater journey.

Milton Yates (King Arthur) is excited to perform in his 8th and final show here at Gonzaga! The four years he has spent growing in his craft have done wonders for his future. He plans on taking his passion for acting into college.
