Set to Make a Spectacular Comeback
As the countdown begins, the Seymour Gift is set to make its grand return for the first time in over two decades, with just under a month until the thrilling event takes place on December 14 at Kings Park. The Seymour Running Club (SRC) has been tirelessly preparing for what promises to be a remarkable day of track athletics, aiming to establish the Gift as a marquee event on the Victorian Athletic League (VAL) calendar.
The event is expected to host around 500 athletes, ranging from Under 18s to Masters runners (45+), showcasing an impressive range of talent across age groups. Athletes registered with the VAL are eligible to compete, ensuring high participation levels and a spirited competition. Blair Collins, the President of the SRC, expressed his enthusiasm about the upcoming event, stating, "We’re incredibly excited about the Gift returning and we can see it being a major boost for the town." With over 100 Foundation Members already joining the club, there is a palpable buzz as local businesses and community members rally to support the event. The major sponsor, the Seymour Club, along with several sponsors for various races and heats, reflects the commitment of the community to make this event a success. In addition to the thrilling athletic competition, the event will feature several community groups supporting various services.

The Seymour Football Netball Club will manage the bar facilities, while the Eastern Hill Cricket Club will run a BBQ and Seymour Little Athletics will oversee the canteen. For those wishing to indulge in luxury, the SRC is offering a corporate hospitality area with exquisite views of the action, complemented by an afternoon of food and beverages. To ensure the safety of all participants and attendees, an emergency management plan has been approved by the Mitchell Shire Council, reflecting the committee's dedication to a secure environment during the event. Spectators can look forward to some of the most exciting races of the day, including the DB Results Men’s Gift and the Microenterprise Launchpad Women’s Gift. Additionally, Australian Trenching & Excavations sponsors what is anticipated to be the richest Masters race in the world at this event, offering a $3,500 prize pool for the 300m race. Established in 2024, the Seymour Running Club will bring the Victorian Athletic League to Kings Park, for the first Seymour Gift in more than 20 years.
