WORDS FROM GUY... Hello Friends, It’s hard to believe it is already the last week of October. Before we know it, we will be packing our bags for the 2022 Bloomington Gold Show. But before you do, be sure to check your GPS because in case you haven’t heard, we are headed back to Bloomington to celebrate our 50th Event! The enthusiasm and excitement we are receiving from the town of Bloomington-Normal as well as Bloomington Gold attendees has been overwhelmingly positive. We are very excited about bringing Bloomington Gold not only back to Illinois but back to the town where it all started! While many of you have asked us to go back to the original site of the show as well, we are pretty certain that the LOWES that now occupies the grounds would really not be thrilled to have a Corvette Show overtake their store and parking lots. However, we will be at Illinois State University, primarily in Redbird Arena, Horton Field House, the Bone Student Center and all the grounds in between. Moving an event to a new location is always a lot of work, almost like starting from scratch. Meaning Bloomington Gold staff has a lot of work ahead of them. But with the hard working dedicated staff we have on board, I am pretty sure this is going to be by far the best Bloomington Gold Show in the past 50 years! So read on to learn a what we know so far bout 2022 and then stay tuned in the coming months to learn about future developments as we head Back to Bloomington! Happy Trails, Guy Larsen President
HAPPY RETIREMENT WISHES TO LONG TIME STAFF MEMBER Cathy Winters, VP of Operations for Bloomington Gold retired from Bloomington Gold this summer. Cathy had worked for Bloomington Gold for over 10 years and most recently oversaw operation for Bloomington Gold. Probably her most important behind the scenes work was the overall show operation schedule including scheduling of the staff for every aspect of the events, as well as working with the vendors; both of which she did a great job at. We will miss her energy, enthusiasm, and most of all, her dedication to helping make each show better every year. We hope you can join Bloomington Gold staff in wishing her nothing but the best in her retirement. Cathy - we hope you enjoy the extra time with your family and grandchildren!

The Best of the Best. By now, you have read that the theme of the 2022 Gold Collection is The Best of the Best. But what exactly does it mean? Simple: All of the components that will make up the 2022 Gold Collection will be from one of the former Gold or Special Collections that Bloomington Gold has had over the years. Notice the word component and not car. If you recall, the years of the Great Hall recognized not only cars but also significant people and events that helped shaped the Corvette Hobby to what it is today. While we would love to recognize all the cars, people and events that have been in one of our past collections, The Bone Student Center is only so big. This means that Bill Locke, Guy Larsen and the rest of the Gold Collection selection committee have some very intense work ahead of them to choose, locate and bring their choices from the past back to Bloomington to once again display in this year’s Collection: The Best of the Best.

Bloomington Gold is recognized world wide for its prestigious judging process of Corvettes and the authentication a Bloomington Gold Certification brings to a Corvette. Each year, owners bring their Corvettes to be judged for Certification. The reason for doing so are many, but each has one final goal: to have their car be awarded either GOLD CERTIFIED®, SURVIVOR® or the much coveted BENCHMARK® award. There are three levels of Certification for Corvettes and now Camaros and Rest Mods! Click on the license plate below for more info on each.
A GOLD CERTIFIED® car appears as it would just after completion of “typical factory production.” It means that a Corvette has been preserved or restored within 95% of the way it appeared when it left the factory – no better, no worse, no different.
BENCHMARK® - the ultimate standard for unrestored vehicles. In 1991, Bloomington Gold introduced the ultimate and most difficult judging category The BENCHMARK® Award. To achieve BENCHMARK® status, an unrestored Corvette must attain GOLD CERTIFIED® and excel in all four categories of SURVIVOR®.
The SURVIVOR® Award is designed to recognize those Corvettes that are “worn in, but not worn out.” A SURVIVOR® Corvette is significantly unrestored, unrepaired, or unmodified and meets certain requirements.
Resto Mod recognizes the seamless integration of today’s possibilities into yesterday’s performers by applying today’s capabilities and styling enhancements that result in improved styling, handling, performance, and comfort to modern standards while retaining a classic original design.
Camaros will be judged using the same guidelines that are used for Corvettes: A GOLD CERTIFIED® car appears as it would just after completion of “typical factory production.”

Horton Field House This building will host a majority of the vendors for 2022 and is located directly across from Redbird Arena, the location of Certification in 2022. Horton Field House is protected from the elements and secure at night.

Swap Meet Lot The traditional swap meet will return in numbers in 2022! Spaces are on asphalt and are offered in 18’ wide and 18’ deep increments. Some spots have shade from trees. Tent rental is also available. This lot is just East of Redbird Arena and South of Horton Field House.

Patio This area is good for rigs & larger displays that request or require to be outside. The patio is located on the North side of the East parking lot as well as in between Redbird and Horton Field House. There are also a few 10x10 spots on grass available.
