Women’s Health Mobile Clinic to Visit SHIRE Women and teenagers across Golden Plains Shire will have easier access to free and confidential health services when the Women’s Health Mobile Clinic visits the region from 7 to 29 September 2026.
Calling Fright Night OPEN MIC PERFORMERS Golden Plains Shire Council is inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) from talented young performers to take part in the Fright Night Open Mic on Saturday 31 October 2026. Delivered by the FUSE Amplify Committee, the event provides a safe, inclusive and supportive platform for young people aged 12 to 25 to gain performance experience, build confidence and connect with their community. Emerging musicians, singers and performers are encouraged to apply for the opportunity to perform, with two successful applicants to be selected by the FUSE Amplify Committee to receive exclusive mentoring and rehearsal support in the lead up to the event.
The selected performers will work alongside professional entertainers Andy Pobjoy and Shandelle Cooke from Piano Bar, gaining valuable industry insights, guidance and hands-on experience to help prepare for their live performance. Fright Night Open Mic highlights Council's commitment to supporting young people by creating opportunities to develop skills, express creativity and participate in community life. Delivered by BreastScreen Victoria, the clinic offers free 45-minute appointments with qualified health professionals, providing advice, support and information on a range of health concerns, preventative care and screening options in a private and supportive environment. EDIBLE GARDENS Series RETURNS HELP INFORM UPDATED MOBILE TRADERS POLICY Council is inviting community members, businesses and mobile traders to provide feedback as part of a review of its Mobile Traders Policy, which is being updated for the first time since its adoption in 2021. The Draft Mobile Traders Policy aims to ensure mobile trading on Council-owned and managed land is regulated in a fair, safe and consistent manner, while balancing the interests of mobile traders, established businesses and the wider community. The review provides an opportunity to ensure the policy remains aligned with current community expectations, industry practices and regulatory requirements. Community feedback will play an important role in shaping
the final policy and helping Council develop an approach that supports local economic activity while maintaining equitable access to public spaces. The policy applies to mobile traders operating on Council-owned or managed land and outlines the requirements for obtaining and maintaining a permit to trade within the Shire. The review reflects Council's commitment to ensuring its policies remain relevant, effective and responsive to the needs of the community. Golden Plains Shire Council’s popular Edible Gardens Program is returning in 2026 with a new Popup Series, featuring six interactive gardening masterclasses across the Shire from September to November. Led by horticulturist Craig Castree and permaculture expert Tim Glenton, the workshops will provide practical tips on sustainable gardening, backyard food production and self-sufficiency. Topics include fruit tree pruning and grafting, smart watering and irrigation, and regenerative gardening. The series offers residents an opportunity to learn new skills, connect with other gardeners and make the most of their outdoor spaces while growing fresh food at home.
