
Bring it at Battle of the Bands 2026!
Golden Plains Shire Council is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) for young bands across Golden Plains to compete at the 2026 Battle of the Bands competition.
Battle of the Bands is a competition featuring dynamic performances from emerging young artists aged 12 to 25 across Golden Plains Shire who represent a wide range of genres.
The event will be held on Saturday 21 March from 4 to 7pm at Turtle Bend Reserve in Teesdale.
This Battle of the Bands event is an initiative of Fuse (formerly known as the Golden Plains Shire Amplify/ FReeZACommittee). Fuse is a crew of passionate young people from across the Shire who bring bold, youth-led ideas to life. Supported by the Victorian Government’s Amplify program, Fuse gives young people aged 12 to 25 the chance to step up, get creative, and design events that are fun, inclusive and local.

Start Your Leadership Journey in the Golden Plains Youth Council!
Golden Plains Shire Council is calling on passionate young people aged 12 to 25 across the Shire to step into leadership and join the Golden Plains Youth Council (the Youth Council).
The Youth Council is the official youth advisory group to Council, providing a direct channel for young people to share their perspectives and have their voices heard. The Youth Council provides young people in the community a platform for leadership and training
to help them inform community planning and advocate on youth and community issues. It’s also an opportunity for young people to provide advice from a youth perspective on Council planning.
Expressions of Interest (EOI) to join the Youth Council are invited now and can be completed by contacting Council’s Youth Development Team at goldenplainsyouth@gplains.vic.gov.au or calling 5220 7111.

Have Your Say: Rokewood Telecommunications Facility
Council is conducting a community engagement process on the proposed lease of land on the west boundary of the Rokewood Works Depot (Kuruc-a-Ruc Road) for the purposes of establishing a mobile telecommunications facility.
The proposed lease is for Amplitel Pty Ltd, part of the Telstra Group, to secure the land for a period of 20 years and establish a mobile telecommunications facility. The facility aims to improve network coverage and enhance data speeds for mobile phone and internet technology in the local area.
Feedback on the proposed lease is invited from Monday 19 January 2026 to 5pm, Friday 6 February 2026, and can be completed online at goldenplains.vic.gov.au/consultations
