Come Along to E-Waste Drop Off Events
Golden Plains Shire Council is inviting residents to safely dispose of their old or unwanted electronic items at two free E‑Waste Collection Days being held this May and June. The initiative supports responsible recycling and helps keep harmful materials out of landfill.
E‑waste includes any item with a plug, battery or power cord that is no longer working or no longer wanted. Once collected, these items are dismantled into components such as plastic, glass, metal wiring and circuit boards. These materials are then sent to specialised recyclers and manufacturers to be repurposed into new products, reducing environmental impact and supporting a circular economy.
The Drop Off Events will be held on:
• Saturday 30 May from 9am to 1pm on Russell Street, Meredith
• Saturday 6 June from 9am to 1pm at the Golden Plains Civic Centre (Bannockburn Family Services Centre car park)
Items You Can Drop Off
Residents can bring a wide range of household electronic items, including:
• Household appliances (toasters, coffee machines, slow cookers, blenders, food processors and similar items)
• TVs and telecommunication equipment (computers, laptops, tablets and accessories, hard drives, scanners, printers)
Items Not Accepted
Some items cannot be accepted at these events:
• Large or bulky items such as whitegoods (These items can instead be taken to Council’s Rokewood Transfer Station.)
• CDs and DVDs
Council encourages all residents to take part in these collection days to help reduce waste, protect the environment and support sustainable recycling practices.

BERRYBANK WIND FARM COMMUNITY GRANTS PROGRAM
Golden Plains Shire Council and Berrybank Wind Farm are once again partnering to deliver the Berrybank Wind Farm Community Grants Program in 2026. Applications for this year’s grants program will open on Friday 1 May and close at 2pm, Monday 1 June 2026. The Berrybank Wind Farm Community Grants Program provides funding opportunities to support local community and business groups for tourism, economic development and climate change projects in Golden Plains Shire. There is a grant pool of $75,000 available for this program in 2026.
Applicants are eligible to apply for grant funding in
three categories:
• Tourism
• Economic Development
• Climate Change

Community Disaster Resilience Program – upcoming Sessions
We're continuing our Community Disaster Resilience Program across the Shire. Earlier sessions in Linton and Rokewood were well attended, and residents are encouraged to join the remaining workshops.
The program helps communities build confidence and preparedness before, during and after emergencies, with practical guidance and opportunities to plan locally with support from SES and CFA.

Applicants must seek funding for amounts exceeding $2,000. Multiple year applications are permissible for annual events or programs of up to 3 years.
