Active Golden Plains Sport & Rec Fest Golden Plains Shire Council is thrilled to host the free Active Golden Plains Sport & Rec Fest (the Rec Fest) in February and March at Bannockburn and Smythesdale!
An initiative of Active Golden Plains, the Rec Fest aims to generate awareness of activities available in Golden Plains and empower residents to explore a variety of physical and recreational activities offered by local clubs, groups and providers.
Teesdale Pedestrian Refuge - Improved Safety on Bannockburn-Shelford Road Council has developed a pedestrian safety improvement project for the BannockburnShelford Road in Teesdale. Improving pedestrian safety is a priority project in the Teesdale Community Plan, and the primary goal of the project is to improve pedestrian safety while accessing the businesses in the township. The Bannockburn-Shelford Road is an arterial road under Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) management, and Council has worked with DTP to identify the most effective solution for this location. DTP advised a pedestrian refuge was the most appropriate improvement for this location.
Council is seeking community feedback to finalise the plan which is available at goldenplains.vic.gov.au/ consultations. Feedback can be provided by emailing communityengagement@gplains.vic.gov.au and closes at 5pm on Friday 6 February 2026. Council will also be holding an information session at the Teesdale Public Hall on Wednesday 28 January 2026 at 6pm. Community members are encouraged to come along and try out a range of activities, from football, golf, bowls, and tennis, to dance, gyms, fishing groups, BMX and basketball. There’s plenty for everyone to try! The Rec Fest will be held across two different locations: • Saturday 21 February 2026 from 10am to 1pm at the Woady Yaloak Recreation Reserve, Smythesdale. • Saturday 14 March 2026 from 10am to 1pm at the Recreation Precinct Soccer Pavilion, Bannockburn.
