Come along to the Active Golden Plains Sport & Rec Fest
Golden Plains Shire Council is thrilled to host the free Active Golden Plains Sport & Rec Fest (the Rec Fest) in February and March at Bannockburn and Smythesdale!
An initiative of Active Golden Plains, the Rec Fest aims to generate awareness of activities available in Golden Plains and empower residents to explore a variety of physical and recreational activities offered by local clubs, groups and providers.
Community members are encouraged to come along and try out a range of activities – from football, golf,
bowls, and tennis, to dance, gyms, fishing groups, BMX and basketball.
The Rec Fest will be held across two different locations:
• Saturday 21 February 2026 from 10am to 1pm at the Woady Yaloak Recreation Reserve, Smythesdale
• Saturday 14 March 2026 from 10am to 1pm at the Recreation Precinct Soccer Pavilion, Bannockburn

Municipal Emergency Management Planning Committee
The Golden Plains Shire Municipal Emergency Management Planning Committee (MEMPC) is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from community members to join the Committee in a voluntary capacity.
The MEMPC is a multi-agency Committee responsible for developing and maintaining a plan that addresses emergencies within the municipal footprint.
The Golden Plains Shire MEMPC is made up of representatives from the CFA, Ambulance Victoria,
Victoria Police, FRV, ERV, VIC SES, VCC-EM, Red Cross, St John Ambulance, and Golden Plains Shire Council.
Locals who are passionate about their community and want to be involved in the development and implementation of strategies to ensure community safety during emergency events are encouraged to apply.
EOIs are invited until Tuesday 3 March 2026 and can be completed at goldenplains.vic.gov.au/consultations
Apply to Exhibit at Golden Spaces!
Expressions of Interest (EOI) are still open for the 2026 Golden Spaces Winter Exhibition.
Golden Spaces is a free, community-based program offering group art exhibitions across three locations: The Bannockburn Cultural Centre, The Well at Smythesdale and the Golden Plains Civic Centre.
EOIs are invited until 5pm, Friday 27 February 2026 and can be completed at goldenplains.vic.gov.au/golden-spaces The 2026 Winter Exhibition will be launched in June 2026 at the Bannockburn Cultural Centre.
