Help Guide the Future of Inverleigh Sporting Complex
Golden Plains Shire Council is encouraging residents of Inverleigh and surrounding communities to have their say on the future of the Inverleigh Sporting Complex located at the Inverleigh Recreation Reserve (the Reserve).
Council is developing an Inverleigh Sporting Complex Master Plan which will help improve and develop the Reserve to meet evolving needs of users and the growing community in Inverleigh and surrounding towns.
The Master Plan will establish a shared vision for the Sporting Complex, driven by the input of key
stakeholders and the broader community. It will provide a clear roadmap for future development, guide decision making and resource allocation for the community, user groups and Council.
Feedback on the development of the Master Plan is invited until 5pm, Wednesday 29 April 2026, and can be completed online at goldenplains.vic.gov.au/consultations
Following the consultation period, Council will begin the development of the draft Master Plan and will keep the community involved in this process with further community consultation scheduled for later in 2026.
Have Your Say: Traditional Owner Naming for Council Managed Reserve in Batesford
Golden Plains Shire Council is seeking community feedback on a proposed Wadawurrung Traditional Owner name for an unnamed reserve in Batesford.
Council has worked with the Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation (WTOAC) to identify a suitable name for the reserve informally known as the Moorabool River Reserve. The proposed name is Perridak Ngubiyt (Peh-ree-duck Nooh bit) which means freshwater home of the platypus in Wadawurrung language.
This naming proposal has been initiated based on priority actions identified in a number of Council’s strategic documents including the Council Plan 20252029, Reflect - Reconciliation Action Plan, Environment Strategy 2019-2027, Community Vision 2040 and in response to community feedback as part of the Moorabool River Reserve Master Plan.

Call out for Tourism Advisory Committee Members
Council is inviting Expressions of Interest from community members and local industry voices to put their hand up to join one of our new Tourism Advisory Committees.
Residents with a strong connection to their local community are encouraged to apply. The committees will bring together community members and local industry representatives to act as a knowledgeable sounding board, offering grounded and practical advice to guide Council’s tourism planning.

Inverleigh Tree Succession Plan
Stage 2 Update
Council will begin Stage 2 works on the Inverleigh Tree Succession Plan at the end of April 2026.
Stage 2 includes the removal of 24 ageing Cypress trees and 31 stumps, with works expected to finish by end of May 2026, weather permitting. Traffic delays may occur and will be managed on site. Free mulch will be available for community collection at the western approach to Inverleigh (camping area) during works.
