2020 年に飯塚高校吹奏楽部の委嘱により、オオサカ・シオン・ウインド・オーケストラのメンバーによる金管五重奏「オオサカ・ブラスターズ （Osaka Brassters）」のために作曲した曲を、クラリネット五重奏に翻案。作曲するにあたり大阪らしい曲にしたいと考え、「浪速のモーツァ ルト」キダタロー氏の作風を参考にした。
曲は陽気で軽快なマーチで始まり、御堂筋を走る車のクラクションや地下鉄（大阪メトロ）を連想させるフレーズを挟みながら進むが、[G]の 前で molt rit.して一転、ブルージーなセクションになる。Bass Cl.の短いカデンツァの後マーチに戻り、B.Cl.の Solo から Tutti になりコーダに 入る。最後から 2 小節前のフレーズはグロウル(Growl)でやっても面白い。
2024 年 9 月「第 12 回梅田クラリネット祭」に於いて「UMD フェスティバル・アンサンブル」により、クラリネット版初演。 （金山徹）
Midosuji Rhapsody（Duration: approx. 2 min. 50 sec.）
In 2020, commissioned by the Iizuka High School Wind Ensemble, I composed a piece for the brass quintet “Osaka Brassters” performed by members of the Osaka Shion Wind Orchestra. This piece was later arranged for clarinet quintet. When composing, I aimed to create a piece that embodies the spirit of Osaka, drawing inspiration from the style of Kida Taro, known as the “Mozart of Naniwa.”
The piece begins with a cheerful and lively march, interspersed with phrases reminiscent of car horns on Midosuji Street and the Osaka Metro subway. However, before [G], it suddenly shifts to a bluesy section with a molt rit. After a short cadenza by the bass clarinet, it returns to the march, leading to a solo by the bass clarinet, then a tutti, and finally the coda. The phrase two measures before the end can also be performed with a growl for an interesting effect.
In September 2024, the clarinet version was premiered by the “UMD Festival Ensemble” at the “12th Umeda Clarinet Festival.” (Tohru Kanayama)
