Since its move from the historic Markets Field location, Limerick has been proud to host modern greyhound racing in a venue with roots that run deep in Irish heritage and community spirit.
A Venue Steeped in History
This site has witnessed some of Ireland’s most memorable moments. It is part of the grounds where Pope John Paul II celebrated the final open-air Mass of his 1979 visit, an occasion attended by hundreds of thousands of people.
It also welcomed U.S. President John F. Kennedy on his 1963 visit to Ireland, with crowds lining the streets to greet him.
