JOE & MANDI MARTIN

Joe and Amanda Martin have captivated automotive enthusiasts nationwide as the dynamic duo behind Martin Bros Customs and the hit reality TV series “Iron Resurrection.” Their journey from modest beginnings to becoming celebrated figures in vehicle restoration is a testament to their dedication, skill, and entrepreneurial spirit.

Joe Martin: A Passion for Restoration

Joe Martin’s affinity for mechanics and design emerged early in his life. Growing up in Texas, he immersed himself in the world of automotive restoration, honing his skills in transforming dilapidated vehicles into masterpieces. His big break came in 2004 when he won Discovery Channel’s “Biker Build-Off,” showcasing his exceptional talent in motorcycle customization. This victory laid the foundation for his future endeavors, leading to the establishment of Martin Bros Customs, where he continues to breathe new life into classic cars and motorcycles.

Amanda Martin: From Finance to Fabrication

Amanda Martin, born Amanda Jill Keathley on December 11, 1973, in Red Oak, Texas, initially carved out a successful career in the banking sector. She held significant positions at institutions like Wells Fargo and later at Pioneer Bank, where she ascended to Vice President of Deposit Operations. Despite her achievements in finance,

Amanda felt drawn to a more handson, creative pursuit. This led her to join forces with her husband, Joe, bringing her business acumen to Martin Bros Customs and transitioning into the world of automotive restoration.

”Iron Resurrection”: A Platform for Passion

In 2016, Joe and Amanda’s expertise and charisma caught the attention of television producers, leading to the debut of “Iron Resurrection” on the Discovery Channel. The show follows the Martins and their team as they scout for abandoned vehicles, restoring them to their former glory with a blend of creativity and technical prowess. Amanda plays a pivotal role, managing operations, coordinating projects, and engaging with clients, all while navigating the challenges inherent in high-stakes restorations.

Balancing Business and Personal Life

The partnership between Joe and Amanda extends beyond the workshop; their personal and professional lives are deeply intertwined. Their collaborative efforts have not only propelled Martin Bros Customs to new heights but have also strengthened their bond as a couple. Despite the demands of running a business and filming a television series, they prioritize their relationship and family life, often sharing glimpses of their journey with fans and followers.

Challenges and Community Engagement

In 2020, Amanda took a step back from “Iron Resurrection” to focus on personal well-being and family, highlighting the importance of balance amid a hectic schedule. Beyond their professional endeavors, the Martins are known for their philanthropic efforts, participating in charity events and supporting various causes, including animal rescue initiatives. Their commitment to giving back underscores their appreciation for the community that has supported their journey.

Legacy and Influence

Joe and Amanda Martin’s story is one of passion, resilience, and transformation. Through “Iron Resurrection” and their work at Martin Bros Customs, they have inspired countless individuals to pursue their dreams, demonstrating that with dedication and hard work, it’s possible to turn a passion into a thriving enterprise. Their legacy continues to influence the automotive restoration industry, blending traditional craftsmanship with innovative design to revive the beauty of classic vehicles.

As they continue their journey, Joe and Amanda remain dedicated to their craft, their community, and each other, embodying the spirit of collaboration and creativity that defines the world of custom automotive restoration.

Cruise the Cove

Cruise into Cades Cove in your vintage ride and feel the pulse of a bygone era along the loop road. This sprawling valley, cradled by the Great Smoky Mountains, isn’t just a haven for nature lovers—it’s a scenic runway for classic automobiles. Imagine your car gliding past white-tailed deer grazing in the early light, with the occasional glimpse of a black bear or coyote adding a wild twist to your journey.

This valley has a storied past too. For centuries, Cherokee Indians roamed these lands, and while archaeologists haven’t uncovered large settlements yet, the echoes of their legacy remain. Today, Cades Cove boasts the most diverse collection of historic structures in the national park—a real treat for vintage car enthusiasts who appreciate history as much as a scenic drive.

As you cruise the loop road, you’ll pass by three quaint churches, a working grist mill, rustic barns, and charming log houses—each building a testament to a vibrant past. Grab the self-guided tour booklet at the entrance to learn the tales behind these landmarks, and don’t forget to stop for those picture-perfect moments that blend classic style with timeless scenery.

An 11-mile, one-way loop road circles the cove, offering motorists the opportunity to sightsee at a leisurely pace. Allow at least two to four hours to tour Cades Cove, longer if you walk some of the area’s trails. Traffic is heavy during the tourist season in summer and fall and on weekends year-round. While driving the loop road, please be courteous to other visitors and use pullouts when stopping to enjoy the scenery or view wildlife. An inexpensive self-guiding tour booklet available at the entrance to the road provides a map and information about the cove.
