Welcome all Truckers to the 9th annual Grand National F-100 Show! We are extremely excited about this being the third year. We have expanded the outside venue across Teaster Lane. The show has increased in size and scope with attendees and vendors growing and registrations coming in months sooner than in previous years. This is fantastic because it allows more time to plan for the show. This year we sold out all vendor spaces inside the LeConte Center by mid-February and the 75 trucks on the inside display spaces in the first week of March. This trend shows folks are planning their participation in the show much earlier than in the past. All very exciting! Last year was bittersweet for the F-100 family. The 2025 show was the best yet, but we lost many who we love and who have played major roles in creating this show for us all. I lost my mother before the show and my father just after. One of the main contributors and my mentor, Wayne Dean passed just a few weeks after attending the show, and we lost 18 year-old Sydney Strickland who was a staff member in a tragic car accident on August 30. Also, two of our young staff members lost their mother in a motorcycle accident on Saturday night right after the show at Myrtle Beach. I realize it is part of life, but that will never make it any easier. What to expect for the 2026 show? First, more trucks, many from all over the country far and wide! Fat Fender Garage has stepped up to join Dennis Carpenter Ford Reproductions as Headline Sponsors of the show. FFG and DC will be showing off new parts and builds that we all value so much. Mid-West Early Ford, Kincer Chassis, Morgan’s Auto Trim, TKM Street Rods, Obsolete & Classic Parts, Smithy’s Street Rods, Pro’s Pick, SS Chassis Worx, and Scott’s Hot Rods have all joined the Grand National Team as Associate Sponsors! Make sure you visit each one of their displays to see the latest and greatest of what they have to offer. Remember there are four parts to the show, 1,200 plus trucks on display outside and the swap meet is outside. Inside the convention center are vendors and 75 trucks on display under the lights. Don’t forget the Friday afternoon cruise through the Smokies! Enjoy your time at the show and remember to be courteous to your fellow truckers. Please pick up after yourself and only one space per registered truck.

My Ford Story I have always been around mechanically minded people from a very young age, one of them was a friend of my father’s, a very talented and clever man who fixed cars and lorries for a living, I spent a long time watching and learning from him. My Father also rented his garage out to a friend who used to buy and sell cars. I learnt my bodyworking skills from him, from bashing out panels to spraying them.

I passed my driving test at the age of 17 and from that day on, I always wanted a Ford popular/anglia. For the next few decades I was buying cars that were worse for wear, fixing them up and getting them working. And then at the young age of 50 I finally decided to buy a 1953 Ford Popular/Anglia

To this…
I started with adding new wheels and researching with more Youtube videos and that’s when I discovered Scott Hot Rod’s and Customs and Summit racing.
From here I knew this was going to be a big project and I once again started to research front clips and this is when I found the guys at Scotts Hotrods and Customs. I cut the Volare front clip and ordered a Scotts Hotrods IFS front clip. The front of the chassis was in a bad way with not much left of it so we set about cutting and welding to get the chassis back to its original form.
The truck had always leant to one side and after many days and hours investigating we discovered the Plymouth Volare front clip had been welded in out of line which had caused the lean.
After finishing my Ford Pop it was on to the next project. In October 2022 I purchased a 1956 Ford F100. After watching plenty of Youtube videos of classic trucks I set about the modifications.

My son George helped get the chassis back to its original form and he welded in the front clip and boxed the chassis in also. George also helped make the tailgate as a custom piece from scratch.
It was around this time I found that the F100 scene was much larger than I first thought and discovered The Grand National F100 Show. Needless to say I packed my bags, booked a flight and got myself to the show for the first time in 2024. This is when I met my F100 family. It was great to see how big the scene is in the US and how everyone is so passionate about what they do, the scene is tiny in the UK in comparison. After meeting everyone at the show in

2024 I gained new friends for life and more knowledge to take back to continue with my F100. Once I was back home in the UK with all my new knowledge I continued with my F100 and realized it was now a case of “DO IT NICE OR DO IT TWICE”, and that I had been fully converted to the F100 family. I have kept in contact with my good friends and F100 family in the US and returned to the Grand National F100 show in 2025 and I will be returning for the 3rd time in 2026. The show now has a firm place in my yearly calendar and I look forward to catching up with my friends stateside each year. We may be thousands of miles apart but we all share the same petrol head passion for F100’s, if only the scene was larger on our tiny UK island. I set about ordering more parts from Scott’s Hotrods and Summit’s and below are some of the modifications I have made.

In December 2018, what seemed like a lingering stomach virus led to a devastating discovery—a large tumor on his brainstem and cancer along his spine after a brief eye change prompted further testing.

The Story Behind “Wyatt 7:17” After his lengthy battle with brain cancer, the Lord Jesus called Wyatt home to heaven at 7:17 p.m. We found comfort in the precise time because of the significance of the numbers. The number “7” is the most used number in the Bible. It typically points to the completion of a full cycle. God called Wyatt home in the 7th hour of the evening because his work was complete, and it was time for him to rest. The number “17” is less used in the Bible, but it has been suggested that it represents “victory.” The number “17” may also be seen as the combination of “10” and “7” — two numbers that both suggest completion and fullness. God called Wyatt home at 7:17. His mission was complete, and it was time for him to begin a new life with Jesus. Wyatt is now enjoying his Sabbath rest. Though it might seem like cancer won the victory over Wyatt, it is actually the other way around. Wyatt is now at rest and victorious in a place where cancer can no longer touch him.

He will always be in our hearts and minds! We all lost a kind, spiritual, talented and humble friend last year. I lost my mentor. Not only the best friend and advisor for old trucks but in life as well. Wayne Dean past just two weeks after he attended the show last year. He really is the sole individual who recommended me to the powers that be to create the Grand National F-100 Show in 2016. Wayne was also one of the few who helped create the F-100 Super Nationals as well. I first heard of Wayne Dean in a Truck’n magazine back in 1978. His red ‘56 small window with a 429 Cobra engine and Mopar front suspension was a featured article. The write up stated Wayne Dean from Cheraw, SC. Never heard of it. Looking at a map, (paper folded up, back in the day), and discovered his shop was just 45 minutes down the road. I was at his shop that following Saturday, I was 18. Wayne gave me the best advice and even sold me a couple of trucks. He was the best classic automobile artist, both with body and paint but quite the engineer too! I will always remember Wayne saying pull up a bucket and have a seat. That is when it was time to visit a spell. I will always miss the visits we had over the years. A truly great man and friend. Wayne has his “Forever” VIP pass for the show. Wayne left behind a fantastic family who miss him greatly.

A Beautiful Soul Gone Forever We lost Sydney in a tragic automobile accident this past fall. Sydney Strickland was a beautiful, kind sweet soul who we had the great pleasure of having on our Grand National team. She rst started out as a babysitter for my grandkids while their mother and father worked the show. Later as they got older, she helped with ticket sales and was a delight to have on the team. Sydney was 18 when she was killed. She was a Beauty Queen, a volunteer for Hospice, a cousin, a daughter and great friend to many. We will miss Sydney at the show and throughout life. Thank you sweet girl. May you rest in peace!

Grand National F-100 Show Team Member Spotlight
M
eet Vedah Rose Dial, granddaughter of Joe and Cindy Carpenter and daughter of Champ and Meagan Dial. Vedah is fourteen years old and attends Marlboro Academy along with her two
younger brothers, Jude and Able. Vedah is on the cheerleading team, is a champion competition dancer and pageant winner.
Most recently she became Miss Moore County, and in 2024, Teen Miss Lumbee. Vedah enjoys the opportunities of serving her community through these venues. She is a champion for those suffering from diabetes in aid to her brother, Abel. Her passion is dance where she and her brother Jude both excel! Vedah and Jude participate in major national events around the country. Vedah has been attending the Grand National shows her entire life. At age seven, she became the first and only Little Miss F-100 at our first show in the LeConte Center. All can meet Vedah at the front counter registering trucks and selling wrist bands.
