Take Some Time for Reflection
Attraction creates whole new worlds of wonder
The emergence of the immersive experience in Las Vegas is ubiquitous. You can lose yourself in any number of ways around the valley, grabbing plenty of intriguing photos for friends and family back home in the process. But there’s one where you may forget to even use your phone, as the experience is truly transcendent: Infinity Museum
This game-changing attraction at Boulevard Mall features seven distinct rooms, each replicating a specific experience in ways mere words can’t describe. Artists from around the world collaborated to produce whole new environments that blur the line between fantasy and reality. (And c’mon: With the state of the world right now, who doesn’t want to escape, even it’s just for a little while?)
The first thing you’ll do here is slip on the required booties to preserve each environment. After all, reflective surfaces are a huge part of Infinity Museum. Then you’re on your way to an adventure that can last either 30 minutes or hours, depending on what you get out of each room.
Take our advice: When you think you’ve seen everything you need to see in each room, wait just a bit longer. We almost guarantee
you’ll notice something you didn’t before. That’s the magic of Infinity Museum: It gives back what you put into it.
Highlights include:
Sphere Symphony. This is exactly what it sounds like, a room full of orbs that seem to extend in every direction, both suspended and loose on the floor (giant balloons that change colors and beckon you to grab and bounce them).
The Wormhole. It takes 20 minutes to watch this show, but oh, how much you take in! This is a journey through the universe’s past, present and future.
A Mirror Maze. Yes, no doubt you’ve already gone through one of these elsewhere, but nothing will prepare you for this one, a geometric puzzle that requires the use of pool noodles to make sure your nose doesn’t receive any unnecessary bumping. By the end of this labyrinth, you feel a true sense of accomplishment (not to mention mental stimulation that a cup of coffee will never be equal to). –Ken Miller

It’s inevitable that on any vacation at least one meal will be a pizza pick from all involved. May we suggest one place to hit up if you’ve got that pie craving? Richie Palmer’s Mulberry Street Pizzeria of Beverly Hills. You want a real East Coast pizza with simple yet incredibly delicious ingredients and an experience that’ll be a highlight of your Vegas vacation—this is the spot.
“We’re real New Yorkers coming in and bringing our pizza,” said Darren Tripicchio, general manager. “… Our focus on that balance with the sauce, the cheese, the dough—really old-school New York pizza, that oldschool New York Bronx pizza, that’s what it’s based on. (It’s) a very thin crust and crispy. And it’s all about the balance and the ratio between the dough, the sauce and the cheese. It’s an art. The balance of the three is what makes a pizza excellent.”
Tripicchio’s family has been pumping out pies all over Southern California for more than three decades, bringing their authentic flavors—many of the recipes come from his grandmother’s kitchen— with the sauce, the ziti and the salad dressings.
The cheese and pepperoni pies will more than satisfy, but we also
suggest trying Mulberry’s specialty pies, which have been so popular that they’ve become part of the permanent menu. The bulgogi pizza is a Korean barbecue-style pizza with bulgogi beef in a made-in-house marinade, onions, scallions and homemade spicy mayo, while the carne asada pizza includes carne asada steak, pico de gallo, cilantro, salsa verde sauce and a made-in-house cilantro aioli drizzle.

Some Things Never Go Out of Style
Steakhouse combines old school and modern sensibilities
If there’s one thing Vegas does right (there are many, actually), it’s the steakhouse. Nearly every resort has a high-end steakhouse, and at Westgate Las Vegas, you’ll find Edge Steakhouse. With this combination of old school and modern sensibilities, you’ll find excellent incarnations of classic dishes that you know and love, plus newer twists that add even more to the experience.
Start with a drink, like the Vegas Dream, a delicious sip with vodka, passion fruit, prosecco and a huckleberry reduction in a pomegranate sugar-rimmed martini glass. It’s sweet and flavorful, and worth sipping to the last drop. If you get it at the bar while waiting for your table, the kind staff will carry it to your table.
Caesar salad is a classic, and the wedge is accompanied by Nueske’s bacon, blue cheese and ranch dressing. The baby beet salad lightly dresses the vegetable in Meyer lemon vinaigrette, and artfully arranges mascarpone, pistachios, citrus and beet coral.
Edge Steakhouse features plenty of main dishes other than steaks, like roasted Mary’s organic chicken, which is citrus-brined and served with a brown butter sage jus, and ora
king salmon with a saffron potato risotto.
For your steak, try the 10-ounce filet mignon with roasted garlic, and 20-ounce cuts like the bonein ribeye or dry-aged N.Y. strip, a 10-ounce wagyu strip, among others, prepared Rossini-style with foie gras and madeira wine sauce; au poivre; and blue cheese-crusted. Accompaniments include bone marrow, king crab Oscar, butterpoached lobster tail and more.
You can’t forget the sides—some favorites are the decadent mac and cheese, with black truffle and white cheddar; and potato gratin, a deeply cheesy dish that begs to be the center of attention. The roasted Brussels sprouts are quite delicious, with the balsamic reduction adding a little tang, and apple mostarda, sweetness.
For dessert, Tahaitian vanilla crème brulée is a pretty, tasty picture, and the milk chocolate sphere is sure to wow. Your server pours warm caramel sauce over the top of the smooth globe, and it slowly opens, revealing a warm s’mores brownie, vanilla Chantilly, pecan praline and salted caramel ice cream. –Nina King

Resort’s massive pool complex offers plenty of recreational

Summer is almost officially here, but the weather is already so amazing, odds are you’ve already packed that bathing suit as part of your Vegas ensemble. And if you are planning on living it up poolside, might we suggest a reservation at Resorts World Las Vegas? Because they have a pool complex that will absolutely blow you away in its scope and amenities.
The 5.5-acre complex, featuring seven distinct pools, recently underwent a multimillion-dollar transformation that elevates what was already a memorable experience.
First and foremost among the must-visit spots is the 1,800-squarefoot Athena Infinity Pool , featuring views of the Las Vegas Strip you simply have to experience to appreciate. Downtown lounge adds new seasonal cocktails to menu
Who’s that girl!? It’s the iconic Vegas Vickie herself, presiding over one of downtown’s best mixology spots. Vegas Vickie’s cocktail lounge is home to the 20-foot-tall neon sign that used to greet folks on the Fremont Street Experience decades ago. When Circa Resort & Casino owner Derek Stevens acquired the sign in 2016, he refreshed Vegas Vickie and gave her a permanent home at his new resort. Now she serves as a beacon (and great background for that only-in-Vegas pic!) to welcome guests to a lounge that has cocktails with character just like her.
Vegas Vickie’s has some of the tastiest and truly creative cocktails in the city, and they’ve just released a new seasonal menu, so let’s not waste any time getting into it!
The new signature sips all have playful names with techniques and flavor pairings that come from the culinary realm. Want something a little sweet with an opulent purple color? Try the Your Room or Mine? Elijah Craig bourbon serves as the base and a special syrup made of ube, herbal tea and soursop (a type of Asian pear) lend a kind of pastry-type flavor to the cocktail. It’s finished off with lemon and egg whites. “That syrup we make is like the ‘special sauce’ for the cocktail, lending a floral and fruity flavoring,” said lead bartender Tim Weigel.
Looking to cool down from the heat?
Order up the Just One More Night. “You come and have one of these and you’ll be instantly hydrated,” Weigel says. The mix of Dos Hombres mezcal, Casamigos blanco tequila, Chareau (aloe liqueur), St-Germain, cucumber, shiso (Japanese herb) and lime results in a refreshing, vegetal and herbal flavor experience.
If you want fun and flavorful—and eye catching—try the Tomorrow’s Prob -
lem. With Remy 1738 cognac, pineapple and Licor 43, the cocktail is topped with a Grand Marnier foam. “We put the Grand Marnier and lime juice in a nitrogen whipper, and it fluffs it up, kinda like a nitro cold brew,” Weigel said. Then, for that fun (and little crunch) it’s sprinkled with sprinkles!

Try the Grandissimo Espresso Martini with Don Julio 1942 tequila infused with Madagascar vanilla bean, saffron, Mr Black cold brew liqueur, espresso and gold leaf. Another pick from the elevated category is The Vic’s Smoked Old-Fashioned, which gets its twist from a special Circa signature spice blend added to the Russell’s Reserve 10 Year bourbon, capped off with orange oil, demerara and hickory smoke. The menu also offers four spirit-free
libations, wines and champagne in addition to some unique craft beers, including the Vegas Vickie Neon Blonde and La Chouffe Golden Ale.

The culinary world feeds this manager’s soul
If you ask Jeff Kops, executive general manager for BOA Steakhouse at The Venetian Resort, what he loves about the restaurant industry, it’d be a simple answer: Everything. It would have to be for a man who has spent more than three decades running restaurants from Miami, Boston and New York to Dallas, Los Angeles and now Las Vegas.
“I’ve always loved food and watched cooking shows before there was a food network,” Kops says. “I honestly believe
had paths gone differently I would’ve wound up as a chef or back of house. I just found out that I loved it. I love the hospitality of it, the connections you make with people, the leadership, the teaching, all the things that go along with being a manager, a leader.”
As the manager of BOA—a role he took on a month ago when he moved to Vegas for the position (he helped break ground with the restaurant last year)—Kops’ favorite part of the job is “the leadership/

Diablo’s Cantina delivers Mexican goodness—and plenty of it

In the mood for Mexican food?
I sure am, and I know where to go. Let’s hit up Diablo’s Cantina at Luxor and try as much as we can!
We’ll start with a drink—you know how much I love mezcal, so I’m gonna go for the pineapple mezcal-rita, with El Silencio, agave, chipotle syrup and lime and pineapple juices. I know I’ll need another bev in about five minutes, so I’ll put in my order now for the mezcal Old-Fashioned, a twist on the classic, with muddled orange and cherry, Angostura bitters and simple syrup. What about you? I see several of your favorites—the paloma, with El Jimador silver tequila, grapefruit and lime juices; sangria, made with red wine, orange liqueur, cinnamon, brandy, lemon-lime soda and fruit; and the Mexican cucumber, a combination of gin, cucumber and fresh lime. The sangria, then? OK!

Now, we definitely agree on the nachos for an app, right? It’s got everything I love—fresh tortilla chips, pico de gallo, cheese sauce, crema fresca and pickled jalapeños.
Shall we get the aguachile shrimp ceviche, with citrus-cured shrimp, mandarin orange, pickled onions, cucumber, red peppers and cilantro, as well? Wait, there’s queso fundido, too. Better add that. We are on vacation.
I guess it will be a little harder to choose entrées, but let’s give it a go. Diablo’s has excellent salads like the Vixen with salad greens, roasted corn, beans, pickled onions, pico de gallo and citrus-chipotle vinaigrette; I’ve had that before, it’s really good. But today, I am getting veggie enchiladas for sure. There are three other types—shrimp, chicken tinga and beef barbacoa, if that’s your choice. We get rice and beans, too, don’t forget. There are a bunch of types of tacos, too, like carnitas, el pastor, filet alambre, Baja fish and even rajas and mushrooms. If you’re in the mood for burritos, the shredded beef version is packed with slow-roasted brisket.
Oooh, here comes my Old-Fashioned. Want that paloma now?
If you want a bigger main, check out the steak tampiquena with achiote-marinated grilled steak. That comes over green chilaquiles and is topped with blistered chilis. The glazed salmon comes with a chipotle BBQ glaze and Mexican slaw. You choose. I want the street corn as a side, for sure, and fried plantains. Do you want to try the Diablo’s fries, too? I’m sure we can get a to-go box if we ask. Do you have a refrigerator in your room? If you don’t, we’ll just have to eat it all now.
Speaking of eating it all, let’s share dessert. Mexican flan, buñuelos and churros. Hmmm, I think we should get all three. I can’t make up my mind. The flan comes with vanilla custard, the buñuelos with vanilla ice cream and the churros with chocolate sauce.

For Mat Franco, the magic never stops on the Las Vegas Strip

As a kid growing up in Rhode Island, Mat Franco had a picture of Las Vegas on his wall. He told his parents he wasn’t interested in Disney World—he wanted Vegas, please and thank you—and somehow, they listened. He was 12 years old when he first came out here, having saved up money from local magic shows to attend a Jeff McBride Master Class alongside nine other professional magicians. He saw Lance Burton. He saw Siegfried & Roy.
With that kind of single-minded pursuit, it was inevitable that Franco would land his own stage here. There was that pivotal America’s Got Talent win in 2014, and now he’s celebrating a decade-long residency, with his 3,000th show on June 7. That part, he says, he didn’t dare dream.
“It’s not even a pinch-me moment,” Franco tells Las
Vegas Magazine. “It’s a pinchme lifetime.”
His rise is fast by any measure, but the groundwork was laid when he first saw Jeff McBride on TV in 1995, doing something that lit his imagination.
“I was struck by how unique it was compared to all the other magic I had seen,” Franco says. “It was really dynamic, also really skill-based.”
McBride’s influence was specific—not just the artistry, but the possibility of a different kind of magic, one more interested in the performer behind them. Lance Burton was the other north star.
Franco remembers watching Burton’s NBC specials and seeing, for the first time, a magician carry the full weight of an entire hourlong show.
Those early influences have a throughline to what Franco does now, which is harder to categorize but easier to feel. I’ve seen the show several times, and the moment that stays with me isn’t any particular trick. It’s at the end, when the entire room realizes it has been quietly woven together all evening, that everyone in those seats was part of the show. It’s less like watching a
magic performance and more like hanging out in Franco’s living room among friends.
That warmth—genuine, unrehearsed—is what has kept his show a Strip favorite after more than 3,000 performances. The audience, Franco explains, unknowingly guides the outcome every single night, which means there’s no such thing as phoning it in. Every show has a moment he’s never seen before. Every night, the room goes somewhere new.
“I really try to be present in the moment, as opposed to trying to re-create something on a nightly basis,” he says.
As for burnout, there’s no such thing when you’re doing something novel every night.
“It always feels like a trick question,” he says, “because I simply never get burned out.”
Lucky for Vegas audiences, he just signed a five-year extension that keeps him at his host property well into the next decade. Franco—now the father of a 1-year-old and a 3-year-old—still talks about Las Vegas the way a kid with a poster on his bedroom wall would:
“I love it more every day,” he says.
