A Message from the Headmaster Ralph Barlow In 1850, at the same time as the School took on its current form as a boys’ boarding school, the Headmaster, Reverend Hugo Daniel Harper, had the vision to introduce hockey as a major sport. 165 years later, hockey is firmly established as one of the great strengths of Sherborne and I am delighted to support the 1st XI and Development Squad in their preseason tour to Spain. I am very grateful to Chris Roberts, Mark Thurman, Cameron Wake and Tom Mason for putting together such a packed programme of training, competition and cultural exploration. The tour will undoubtedly help to lay foundations for success in the coming season and will prove a memorable experience for all involved. I wish the boys “buena suerte” for an enjoyable tour.

A Message from the Director of Hockey Chris Roberts On behalf of Sherborne School, I write to wish all the boys a very enjoyable tour to Barcelona where the 1st XI will be competing in the GOes Cup. I hope you all have a memorable experience both on and off the field. On the final evening the touring party will travel to Sant Cugat to watch the Parade of the Three Kings, which by all accounts is a colourful and vibrant carnival and should round off proceedings with a taste of Spanish culture and flair. I’m sure the hockey will be very competitive and we must draw on our experiences whilst on tour to ensure we have an equally successful season as last year. This is an ideal opportunity for the boys in the development squad to experience Spanish hockey for the first time.
