Resident painter and instructor Walt Bartman’s goal is to provide a place where those interested in drawing and painting can have the opportunity to take classes with exceptional artists/teachers, collaborate with other artists, and display and sell their work in the Yellow Barn Gallery. The Yellow Barn Studio has one of the largest painting programs in the Washington D.C. area. Yearly, over two thousand students study at the Yellow Barn Studio. The Studio offers a variety of classes in drawing, watercolor, pastel, printmaking, art history, oil and acrylic for students at all levels representing a diversity of philosophies and approaches by the Yellow Barn Studio Faculty. The Yellow Barn Gallery hosts weekly emerging individual and group art exhibits year-round. The Friends of the Yellow Barn Studio, a non-profit organization, provides an array of programs, exhibits, and national speakers for Yellow Barn members. Explore the fundamentals of chalk pastel and oil painting. Each opaque medium has its own unique and luscious characteristics. Participants will work from their own photos of any subject.
