New owners create a community hub in Mooloolah’s town centre ASH and Danielle Young are putting community at the heart of their growing business portfolio after becoming the new owners of Jones Street Kitchen and the Mooloolah Newsagent. Already well known through their successful real estate business in the centre of town, the couple saw an opportunity to expand into hospitality and retail while

creating a destination that encourages locals to shop, dine and connect without leaving Mooloolah. Danielle said the decision came after watching the steady stream of customers visiting the neighbouring businesses. “I used to sit in my office and see how many people came into the café and newsagent, so when Caity
and Adam wanted to sell, I jumped at the opportunity,” she said. Their vision is to create a genuine one-stop shop by supporting local producers and suppliers while strengthening the town’s economy. “We want people to stay in town, support local businesses and create a circular economy and
community,” Danielle said. The couple has retained the café’s familiar team, with Annie continuing to serve customers behind the counter and vegan chef Steele creating a popular menu, including a range of plant-based dishes. They have also welcomed the former Valley Slice Pizza team, with pizzas now available, while the licensed
venue serves beer, wine and spirits. Trading hours have been extended to cater for afternoon and after-school customers, with dinner now available three nights a week. The family-run enterprise now encompasses three businesses in the town centre. Away from work, Ash
and Danielle are long-term foster carers dedicated to supporting the community. Their good fortune has also extended to the newsagency, which recently sold a Division Two lottery ticket worth $15,000 only days after taking over the business.
