BEERWAH State School
Principal Scott Bowden and staff are excited to welcome students back for Term 3, with another busy and engaging term of learning, creativity and growth ahead.
The school’s philosophy is centred on supporting every student to be their very best and equipping them to lead a life of choice, rather than chance.
Two key priorities underpin the school’s approach: delivering an engaging English curriculum aligned with Australian Curriculum achievement standards through expert teaching practices and whole-school frameworks; and continually reviewing and refining processes that support the social and emotional wellbeing of students and staff
Across all areas of the Australian Curriculum, students are encouraged to
learn through interesting and innovative approaches, with technology incorporated to help
develop capable digital citizens equipped with skills for their future. There is plenty happening across the school this term, including the District Track and Field Athletics Carnival and Raw Art workshops, which will contribute to the school’s Arts Week Showcase later in the term. Students will have the opportunity to display their creative works and celebrate their artistic achievements.
Prep students recently marked the important milestone of 100 Days of School, enjoying counting challenges, party games and a day of fun. The school has also celebrated NAIDOC Week through a collaborative art project recognising the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

SC author to give away books to local children
KANGAMOO and the Not New Crew are bringing hundreds of free books to childcare centres, kindergartens, primary schools and children’s support services across Noosa, Gympie and the Sunshine Coast.
Former international television executive Dan Munday has swapped reality TV for rhyming mysteries and is giving away 100 complete sixbook Frankenrhyme Series Book Sets to celebrate Children’s Book Week across his local region.
Kangamoo’s Big Book Drop invites parents, grandparents, carers and educators to nominate a registered childcare centre, kindergarten, primary school or eligible children’s or family support service to receive a set.
Each Frankenrhyme Series Book Set includes Kangamoo, Uniprawn,
Fladingo, Crabbit, Raterpillar and Pigasus.
The 100 people whose nominations are selected will also receive a copy of The AlphaPet Book to gift to a special child in their life, bringing the total giveaway to 700 books.
Full of rhymes, puns and fun, the mystery stories follow inventive best friends Frank and Stein and the mixed-up mates they build from broken toys and bring to life with a little bit of magic.
Among the crew are Kangamoo, part kangaroo and part cow; Crabbit, part crab and part rabbit; and fan favourite Fladingo, part flamingo and part dingo.
When trouble arrives in the seaside town of Yanoosa, the mixed-up crew become unlikely superheroes, helping Frank and Stein solve mysteries, support their community and show young readers
how much fun can come from reusing, reimagining and repurposing.
At the heart of the series is a simple sustainability message: reuse what you can, repurpose what you have and reimagine what old things could become. Through playful stories and activities, children are encouraged to see value and possibility in things that might otherwise be thrown away.
Each set also includes Teaching Notes and activity sheets designed to help educators explore the stories, wordplay and sustainability themes.
Dan created the campaign to put locally made stories directly into the hands of local children and educators.
“Children’s Book Week celebrates stories and the amazing places children’s imaginations can take them,” he said.
