James Grimard Candidate for Division 1 James is a Mt Mellum resident who wants to see a fair go for hinterland communities. “Throughout the past 18 months, I’ve had the opportunity to meet many residents and businesses who have shared with me their concerns regarding local issues,” James said. “It is becoming extremely apparent that the local community is very disturbed by the lack of employment opportunities that our region provides. “In addition, locals are united in their concerns facing the local farming industry. Our local farmers have been without government support for too long, and it’s time to change that.” A born-and-bred Sunshine Coaster, James has a passion for public service and holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce from Bond University. “Prior to running for local government, I worked as a consultant in the Brisbane CBD specialising in HR services within the life sciences field. Prior to that I worked extensively in business-tobusiness sales.” If elected, James is dedicated to being as accessible as possible, and has committed to hold open constituent office hours for those who need to discuss issues. “I will also make it my duty to amplify both the strengths and needs of our region to state and federal governments,” James said. “Regionally, I am devoted to becoming a powerful voice for local farmers, family businesses and regional industry.

“Being largely involved with the Maple Street (Maleny) Co-operative, I am very focused on uniting the Sunshine Coast community through providing support to local organisations and businesses.” James has no political allegiances. “I’m running as an independent candidate so that our farmers, family businesses and local industry can prosper once again. “Locals need industrial development if we’re to improve our standard of living and not just continue down struggle street. It’s an issue that can improve every local person’s life and I’m the only candidate who is 110 per cent determined to get it done. “I’m also running to ensure that the Sunshine Coast local government remains fair and honest. “Politicians need to acknowledge the fact that they represent, and in turn work for, the local residents of the Sunshine Coast region.
