Garnalex CEO, Roger Hartshorn, was presented with the award by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Derbyshire, Elizabeth Fothergill CBE, who was joined by the Chair of the Derbyshire King’s Awards for Enterprise (KAE) Panel, Marvin Cooke OBE DL. After the presentation, there was an opportunity for members of the team and invited guests to meet with the Lieutenancy party before they had a tour of Garnalex’s state-of-the-art manufacturing site. This included the energy efficient SMS HybrEx 35 press and in-house powdercoating facility. The day recognises not only what Sheerline has achieved since its launch, but the day-to-day wins that come from team work, strong communications, and production efficiencies. Roger Hartshorn said: “From initially finding out we’d won, to attending a reception at Windsor Castle and getting to know the other winners in Derbyshire and then hosting a formal presentation day – it’s been a fantastic experience. And one that I would highly recommend to other business leaders in the region.” “For us, it provides an opportunity to standout in an historically competitive

Garnalex announced earlier in the year that it had been awarded the prestigious accolade in recognition of two aspects of the Sheerline system. First, the patented corner construction method, which reduces waste and misalignment while locking in quality. The second aspect is Sheerline’s proprietary Thermlock® technology, which was developed in-house as an alternative to outdated polyamide solutions. It is unique to the Sheerline system, enabling it to offer straightforward thermal efficiency through high-performance U-values and therefore, easy Part L compliance.

The UK’s Leading Glass & Glazing Newspaper
A HAPPY AND VERY PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR TO US ALL! And so we move into a New Year and wonder what 2026 will bring? Are we on the road to recovery and will the budget produced by ‘Rachel from Accounts’ help or hinder the country as a whole? It is very tempting just to leave a blank space on this Page 3 for the individual to pen their own thoughts on the government and their activities. Is lying about black holes in the country’s finances acceptable or are we so used to politicians being economic with the truth that we just accept whatever is thrown at us? I’m guessing that, as an industry, we shall do what we always do and that is to fight on and do our best to keep our heads above water and, given half a chance, improve on our sales and our profitability. The problem, as I see it, is that we are fighting with one hand tied behind our backs! As I write this, I am awaiting all the ‘Voice of the Industry’ entries and am looking forward to seeing the various takes on what is happening in the world and, specifically, in our industry. One person’s view may vary wildly from another’s but I’m pretty certain the state of the country’s economy must concern us all. It is interesting that there are always the glass half full and glass half empty kind of people, and I guess I’m in the latter category, but I’m hopeful that we can recover although I suspect it will take a while. A piece reacting to the Budget from our friends at the FIT Show is more upbeat: “With demand for windows, doors and façades expected to rise, the sector is well positioned to benefit from the measures announced. Continued investment in technology, automation, skills and process efficiencies will be key to supporting growth, speeding up project delivery, and maintaining compliance with evolving standards. “Support for affordable housing and energyefficient improvements should help sustain a strong pipeline of work for installers, builders and specifiers alike. Measures to ease the cost of doing business also have the potential to strengthen smaller firms, helping them adopt digital tools and boost productivity across the supply chain. “For homeowners, the £5 billion energy efficiency scheme and the extension of 0% VAT on home upgrades – including high-performance windows, doors and glazing – make sustainable improvements more accessible. The introduction of free apprenticeships for under-25s is another positive step that should help address skills shortages and encourage future talent into the industry. Let’s hope that is an accurate summary of expectations for 2026…. It is certainly going to be an ‘interesting’ 2026. Is this the year that AI takes us over and is it something we can trust? I’m amazed at the number of people making
www.glassnews.co.uk | January 2026
use of the facility and was even more surprised to be talking to some of my grand-children’s friends who swear by it for completing essays, coursework and so on, but is it right to use it in this way? Just for fun I thought I’d ask AI whether it thought it was trustworthy. The answer came back: “AI cannot be fully trusted due to its potential for bias, inaccuracies, and the "black box" nature of how it makes decisions, but trust is growing as systems improve and are used with human oversight. While AI can be reliable for tasks like providing insights or handling repetitive work, it is crucial to remain cautious and ensure human oversight, especially for high-stakes decisions, say experts." I’m not sure where that leaves us. I presume that as more and more information is input from human beings the answers that the likes of CoPilot and ChatGPT produce will become more accurate. The snag with that is it relies on honest and accurate information being input as opposed to some bright spark sitting in his bedsit, adding nonsense and inaccuracies into the engines, just for a laugh! We also have the issue of cybercrime to contend with. We all know that some companies within our industry have been targeted and it has caused them immense problems, not to mention expense. As editors we are bombarded with releases regarding cybercrime and reading them is quite frightening. One release mentioned an unprotected Kafka stream associated with the travel industry and it says that over 15 million records passed through in a seven day period and, as this leak was spotted in August, it could mean around 960 million records could have leaked. This includes personal details, financial and location information, paired with future travel information, opening customers to highly targeted fraud campaigns. For example, attackers could impersonate hotel staff, threatening to cancel hotel reservations in order to coax victims into paying. And this is just one example of cybercrime – how many cybercrimes are taking place on a daily basis?

WOMEN IN INDUSTRY
The UK’s Leading Glass & Glazing Newspaper
AT WORK, REST AND PLAY THIS MONTH: Melanie Bivens, Glazpart Area Sales Manager – South of England.
This series in Glass News highlights the hopes and aspirations of women in the windows, doors, glass, roofs and hardware industry and will hopefully inspire more to make this their career.
AT PLAY... All work & no play makes Jill a dull girl. True or False? 100% true! There’s no point in working really hard without some enjoyment. If you spend a lot of time working you’ve got to do the other things in life that make you happy.
Work/life balance? I’m getting there with this one. It’s been a busy year both in work and family wise. With the big things out of the way, I’m looking forward to some good rest and relaxation after a pre-Christmas break to Lapland with the whole family. Hopefully in 2026 I can start to enjoy more of a work/life balance.
AT WORK... How did you get into the industry? Whilst on maternity leave with my daughter, I’d never used a recruitment agency before. I gave it a go and my first interview was with Glazpart. At the time, I had no idea what fenestration was, let alone trickle vents and plastic injection moulding. But after some extensive googling, I managed to get my head around it and got the job!
What was your first job after school/college? When I was at college and after I graduated, I worked in a lovely little country pub which had a bar and restaurant and held many events including music nights, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve etc. It was great times, but I worked some very long days and nights.
Brief resume of jobs up to current position? Whilst working in hospitality, I also worked full time in a contact centre for a renowned bank. I didn’t feel it was for me so I moved into care work, first with elderly and then adults with disabilities. Looking for more sociable hours I decided to move into the
4
hygiene sector and was offered a job in sales/account management and I loved it. After four years, I joined a national builders merchant doing much the same thing, until I joined Glazpart.
Are your skills transferable to any industry? Yes. This is proven for me, as I’ve done a similar job is three different industries. As long as you’re good with people and do what you say you’re going to do, then you can learn about the products. In my opinion, being honest, helpful and having a good sense of humour are key skills to success.
Career path mapped or opportunities? I’ve not had any part of my career mapped out. My original thought was to be an actress after gaining a drama school place in London. But decided not to go for a few reasons, so now I just go with the flow and take opportunities as they come. I believe in what’s meant to be, will be.
5/10 years time? I like to think I’ll still be with Glazpart and in the industry. I love working for Glazpart, they are the best company I’ve ever worked for. So, I’ve got no plans to go anywhere unless I get a massive lottery win.
Money/leisure time no object, what would you like to do for yourself & family? I would travel, just pack up and go wherever I fancied. I got married in Italy and I fell in love with it so I’d like to see more. An American road trip would be a dream as I love the USA. Also, just spending time with my family and to be able to say yes to anything they want. I’d also extend my bag and shoe collection, ha-ha.
AT REST... Away from work – what’s your focus? Outside of work, family is my focus. My daughter is three going on thirteen and she keeps us on our toes plus with 4 step kids it’s always loud and busy. Also, my family and I love watching football and being big Arsenal fans we enjoy going to the Emirates Stadium, especially as they are going so well in all competitions this season.
What activities help you switch off? As boring as it sounds, I like to go for a walk or read a book. I try to reduce time on my phone and devices in the evenings and just be with my husband and kids. I like to watch late night murder documentaries which might not help my sleep, but there’s just something about them.

“The window industry has never knocked off at 5pm,” says founder and CEO, Chris Brunsdon. “Whether our customers are out selling in the house, pricing up jobs in the evening or putting finishing touches to a presentation for a homeowner, they can now rely on our expert support team right through until midnight.” This expansion reflects the firm’s particular commitment to helping installers who are less proficient in using computers feel confident with selling digitally. Says Chris: “With more than 1200 double-glazers using the Tommy app at any one-time, there’s always a wide range of tech skills on display. Some of the best salespeople in our industry have come off the tools and would be first to
admit that computers are not their strongest suit. For these folk, in particular, knowing that you can get a helping hand when you need it really takes the stress off.” The newly extended support hours apply across all channels, including live chat for rapid, real-time guidance and email support for more detailed queries. Customers have responded enthusiastically to the improved availability with around 50 out of hours support calls fielded in the first two weeks since live. Response time has been pretty snappy too - queries have been answered in an average of just 47 seconds by Tommy’s twilight team. “It’s a big commitment to lay on a night shift,” says Chris. “But if a little bit of help at the right time can help close a deal or get an important quote out the door on time - it’s got to be worth it.” Evening support is available from Monday to Friday to all subscribers on Tommy’s Grow and Fly plans. Installers can find out more and book a free demo at www.tommytrinder.com.

TAKING RESIDENCE HIGH STREET INSTALLER BACKS THE VALUE OF Steve Collett, Sales Director at Dekko Window Systems, explains why the demand for premium flush sash windows is only going one way – up. You could be forgiven for thinking that doom and gloom is all that lies ahead for installers, especially if you were at the recent Glazing Summit, where the conversation leaned heavily towards economic pressure, tightening margins, and uncertainty in the market. But let’s take a step back. Because while it’s true that the market has become more competitive, it’s also true that the right products are still selling and selling well. At Dekko, we’re seeing that very clearly. The Residence Collection, in particular, is flying out the door and across the board installers are telling us they want to push more out. Why is this the case? Well, Residence 9 (R9) and Residence 7 (R7) let installers tap into that flush sash window demand, especially when homeowners are looking for premium, low-maintenance alternatives to timber or aluminium. Installers are under pressure to differentiate; to offer premium, high-performing products that meet homeowner expectations and the Residence Collection delivers on every front. Offering the Residence Collection also allows them to serve both traditional and modern markets. R9 is a high-end product for high-end projects, and perfect for installers working on heritage and conservation projects. It delivers that authentic, timberlook that homeowners want, thanks to features such as deep profiles, mechanical joints, and heritage detailing. And, of course, it does all this without the maintenance headaches that come with real timber. While R9 has always been a go-to product for installers, R7 has seen a notable rise in popularity, especially among those looking for a sleek, modern flush sash solution. Our ability to supply R7 fully graf welded gives it a seamless, contemporary finish that’s proving a strong alternative to aluminium. It’s no surprise that R7 is turning heads with homeowners and giving installers something new and exciting to offer. At the end of the day, homeowners want style, performance, and peace of mind while installers want products that sell, and right now that means the Residence Collection. Dekko Window Systems is one of the UK’s leading fabricators and a trusted Residence Collection partner for over a decade. Visit www.dekkowindows.com for more information.
PHYSICAL SHOWROOMS AS MARKET TIGHTENS
While many installation companies continue to prioritise digital channels, Upminster-based installer Ken Rhodes is making the case for the continued power of the high street— especially as homeowners grow more cautious in the current economic climate. The business, founded in 1985 by Scottish carpenter Ken Rhodes Snr, remains rooted in its original high street location. Now run by his son and namesake, the company has gradually evolved its product range and marketing approach to reflect shifting customer expectations. Despite the modest frontage, the firm operates with the same entrepreneurial drive that has long defined the UK’s independent window and door sector. A key part of that evolution has been the introduction of the Gerda steel and aluminium entrance door range—installed as a full
working sample in the showroom. According to Ken Rhodes, the decision was driven by growing demand for demonstrable security and premium build quality: “When Pioneer introduced the Gerda door to us, we knew it was something a bit special,” he said. “Security remains a real concern for many of our customers, so it’s reassuring to have a product that can demonstrate high levels of secure locking that the more premium householder is seeking.” The timing is significant. Ken reports that leads are currently down by around 30%, and the typical sales cycle has extended from 28 days to 35. Homeowners, he argues, are increasingly selective: “The typical customer today is less keen to take on any significant debt and is increasingly stringent
In response, the business has adopted a more proactive marketing strategy. This includes data reactivation work, such as a recent SMS trial on 500 existing customers that generated seven appointments—a modest but welcome return at a time when every lead counts. Ken adds that brand recognition remains a valuable driver, praising Pioneer’s support and the upcoming TV campaign for Gerda. He also believes the wider industry has lost some of the visibility once generated by national players: “The loss of some of the larger multinationals has probably affected the public perception of products as a whole—the millions that were once pumped into
nationwide advertising is no longer there. The onus on us being more proactive has definitely increased.” Alongside retail installations, the company continues to service local commercial work, recently completing four Gerda door installations on a new-build development that required non-standard widths. “Gerda fits that bill of being something a bit alternative, without compromising on aesthetics, nor whacking up the price,” Ken said. “It’s the perfect door brand to help us through the tougher months.”
PIONEER INVESTS IN PIONEERING SEAMLESS WELDER TO ELEVATE CILL MANUFACTURING Pioneer Trading Company has further strengthened its manufacturing capabilities with the purchase of the groundbreaking Graf SLS Single Head CNC Cill Welder from Haffner. The state-of-the-art machine is the first and only single-head CNC welder specifically designed to deliver seamless bay cills with exceptional efficiency and consistently flawless aesthetics. After researching the market, Pioneer identified the Graf SLS as a genuine step-change in cill fabrication. The machine produces a perfectly seamless weld with fully automated sprue removal, eliminating the need for any post-weld cleaning or touch-ups and significantly improving fabrication efficiency. Its single-operator design further boosts productivity, while automatic measurement and recalibration of profile tolerances ensure consistent accuracy and reduced material waste. Danny Williams, Managing Director at Pioneer Trading Company, said: “I’ve been in the industry for 36 years and during that time, manufacturing quality across most areas has improved beyond recognition, except when it comes to PVC-U cills. The same traditional methods are still being used today. The Graf SLS is an absolute game-changer. The finish quality is exceptional, it de-skills labour and the efficiency gains are outstanding. There’s nothing like it on the market.” He continued: “I was impressed by what I’d read about the machine, but it wasn’t until I visited the Haffner Village at FIT Show 2025 and saw the Graf SLS in action that I fully appreciated its capability. After just one weld cycle, I was sold and signed up there and then.”
8
in choosing quality when making a significant purchase.”
Danny was equally impressed with the service received from Haffner during the purchasing process. He said: “Bryan Dando and the Haffner team have been exceptional; the whole process from order to installation has been seamless.” Now fully installed and operational at Pioneer's Essex fabrication site, the response from customers has been overwhelmingly positive. Danny added: “The feedback has been excellent, and the quality of the cills we are now delivering are superb.” Bryan Dando, Commercial Director at Haffner, commented: “Pioneer has always been known for its commitment to quality and forward-thinking investment. Danny immediately recognised how the Graf SLS could transform cill production. The SLS delivers outstanding accuracy and efficiency and we are delighted to support Pioneer as they continue to elevate their manufacturing standards.” Pioneer’s investment in the Graf SLS CNC Cill Welder further reinforces its position as one of the industry’s most innovative and quality-driven fabricators, ensuring every component of its window and door products meets the exceptional standards customers expect.

ISO-CHEMIE RECEIVES MORE NEW APPOINTMENTS THE “EMPLOYER OF AT VBH THE FUTURE” SEAL ISO-Chemie GmbH has been awarded the prestigious “Employer of the Future” seal of approval by the German Innovation Institute for Sustainability and Digitalisation (diind). This recognises the company for its forward-looking approach to digitalisation, sustainability and modern corporate culture. The “Employer of the Future” seal demonstrates that ISO-Chemie is committed not only to innovative products but also to progressive and future-oriented working methods.
WHY ISO-CHEMIE PROVED CONVINCING In the assessment, ISO-Chemie impressed above all with its clear focus on sustainability and energy efficiency, which is firmly anchored at the core of its corporate philosophy. Equally decisive was its consistent digital strategy, which encompasses both the product and service areas. Mark is vastly experienced, having held senior sales and management positions at high profile fenestration companies during three decades in the window and door industry. His recent experience at both PVCu and aluminium systems houses has given Mark a fully rounded knowledge of our industry and its major players, which VBH advise will be of huge benefit to their customers. The company has also announced the internal promotion of Tamara Bridgland to the position of Customer Service Supervisor.
The promotion recognises the hard work and high levels of efficiency that Tamara has displayed daily since joining VBH in 2011. HAFFNER CELEBRATES 100 YEARS OF MACHINERY EXCELLENCE 1st January, 2026 marks the centenary of Haffner Germany, the world-leading manufacturer of PVC-U and aluminium fabrication technology. Dave Thomas, CEO and founder of Haffner Ltd, said: “Haffner machines have transformed the way windows and doors are manufactured, driving productivity, quality and efficiency for fabricators around the globe. Reaching 100 years is not only a celebration of our heritage, but a reminder of how our machinery continues to set the benchmark for the industry.” Founded in 1926 in Pforzheim, Germany, by Gotthold Haffner, the company began by producing precision woodworking hand machines. Over the decades, Haffner has evolved into one of the most influential names in the fenestration sector, known globally for its advanced CNC technology and fully automated fabrication lines. Today, the company is perhaps best known for its SBA profile machining centres. The latest iteration, the SBA-4 PVC-U Profile Machining Centre, draws on decades of automated expertise and delivers an exceptional balance of cutting and machining performance for PVC-U profiles.
Haffner’s impact on fabrication efficiency is also demonstrated by its welding technology. The SMR-4 Four Head Welder eliminates corner-weld misalignment by automatically aligning corners and transoms, removing the need for a highly skilled operator and significantly reducing costly remakes. Alongside it, the SMR-5 Five Head Welding Machine allows a single operative to weld twice as many frames compared to a standard quad welder, transforming productivity and profitability on the shop floor. Haffner’s KT Assembly Tables further enhance workflow by bringing multiple assembly processes together in a single, efficient workstation. Haffner Ltd has been part of the Haffner story for more than 35 of the 100 years, and the company has always continued the track record of excellence set by its German
counterparts. It has won two G Awards for Machinery Supplier of the Year and secured two NFA Awards for Machinery Company of the Year. Dave said: “Our multiple awards reflect our commitment to delivering machinery, technical expertise and long-term partnerships that help fabricators scale with confidence.” Dave concluded: “As we celebrate this important milestone, we’re not just reflecting on the past, we’re looking firmly ahead. Haffner’s legacy is built on precision machinery design, but its future is about enabling fabricators to compete and grow in an evolving market. Celebrating 100 years is a proud moment for us all and we’re committed to ensuring the next century has just as much impact on the industry as the last.”
PRECISION PARTNERSHIP WITH DEKKO PAYING OFF Dekko Window Systems has demonstrated its quality on a standout installation with Bournemouth-based installer Precision Home Improvements Ltd following a major project that showcased the very best of The Residence Collection’s R9 windows and doors. Featuring more than 54 beautifully crafted frames, the huge installation highlights exactly why installers across the UK are increasingly turning to Dekko as their supplier of choice. For Precision Home Improvements, this was only their second project with Dekko, but it’s one that has firmly cemented the partnership. “We’ve been working with Dekko Window Systems for just over a year now,” explained Andrew Bell, Managing Director of Precision Home Improvements. “And once again, the quality of their products and service really stood out. We’ve already placed further orders for the Residence Collection and are quoting more.”
www.glassnews.co.uk | January 2026
The property, situated within a conservation area, demanded a window and door system that delivered on heritage aesthetics without compromising modern performance. Residence 9 was the obvious choice. “This home’s original character needed to be preserved, so R9 was the perfect fit,” Andrew said. “It replicates traditional timber styling with its authentic flush finish and woodgrain detailing, yet it gives homeowners all the advantages of modern, low-maintenance performance. It complemented the property perfectly and met conservation requirements without any compromises at all.” Precision Home Improvements chose Dekko because of its reputation for delivering the Residence Collection and Dekko manufactured and supplied every one of the 54-plus R9 frames, ensuring meticulous attention to detail throughout. For installers, product quality and precision manufacturing can make or break a project, and Andrew is clear about the difference Dekko made on site.
“From a fitter’s point of view, the quality was excellent,” he said. “Every frame was precise, consistent, and superbly packaged. Everything fitted perfectly to our measurements, which always makes a huge difference. It made the whole installation straightforward.” Andrew also praised the level of support provided by the Dekko team. “Communication throughout was first class. Residence Collection Sales Manager Austin O’Carroll was brilliant from ordering right through to delivery. Dekko were reliable, responsive, and professional at every stage.” The homeowner was delighted with the finished installation. “They were impressed by how seamlessly the new Residence 9 windows matched the traditional look of the property while improving insulation and soundproofing,” added Andrew. “Dekko’s service was excellent from start to finish, and the Residence Collection speaks for itself, with Dekko’s attention to detail something that aligns perfectly with the standards we set at Precision.”
Reflecting on the success of the project, Steve Collett, Sales Director at Dekko, said: “Precision Home Improvements have done an outstanding job with this installation, which really shows what Residence 9 can achieve when fitted by a skilled team and how the system suits heritage homes. “We’re thrilled they’ve had such a strong start with Dekko, and we’re looking forward to continuing the partnership.” Dekko Window Systems is one of the UK’s leading fabricators and a trusted Residence Collection partner for over a decade. THE KING’S AWARD FOR ENTERPRISE
– INNOVATION IS PRESENTED TO GARNALEX Glass News’ Editor, Chris Champion, attended the presentation of the King’s Award for Enterprise – Innovation to Garnalex for their Sheerline aluminium window and door system, and reports on the day’s events. It was back in May that the announcement was made that Garnalex had received the King’s Award for Enterprise - Innovation 2025, and here we are in November, and the Lord Lieutenant of Derbyshire is visiting the company at their Firs Works in Nether Heage, to make the official presentation.

Only 46 businesses in the whole country were recognised for their innovation in 2025 and, with Garnalex included, it is testament to how game changing the Sheerline aluminium window and door system is. At the presentation, two specific aspects were mentioned, firstly, the patented construction method which not only reduces waste and locks in quality but also results in better looking windows with less misalignment in frames, providing improved aesthetic appeal. Secondly, Thermlock ®, Sheerline’s proven proprietary thermal technology, was highlighted. This provides greater thermal efficiency than the legacy polyamide systems, achieving Part L compliance with ease and allowing installers to fix through optimum area of profiles as it is less brittle than polyamide. The Lord Lieutenant was impressed at the 5-day lead time that Sheerline can offer and Thermlock® helps in this as it allows finished profiles to be assembled close to despatch. At the presentation CEO Roger Hartshorn paid tribute to the whole workforce who have contributed to making Garnalex the successful and innovative company it is today. In a short time, just seven years and launching at the height of Covid, Garnalex has differentiated its Sheerline products through innovation, high end engineering and using technology to the full. It has constantly added to its impressive portfolio of products providing a complete and quality system to the fenestration industry. As Roger stated, it’s a crowded space in the aluminium market but this King’s Award differentiates Sheerline from its competitors and delivering on its promises of firstclass service, short lead times and product innovation bodes well for the future of the company.

The forming of all shapes and sizes of profile, with their bending technique, is impressive and allows for full 6 metre lengths of profile to be moulded into a specific window shape. Looking at the many different projects that Bespoke have become involved in, and seeing the photographic evidence, is impressive. Although automation plays a big part in Sheerline’s manufacturing process some 168 people are employed across the two shifts operated and it is clear that the Hartshorn family, with Ben looking after the technical side, are proud of the workforce and what everyone has achieved in a relatively short time. SUPER SPACER® HELPS DELIVER COMPLEX CURVED GLAZING FOR ICONIC AUSTRALIAN WAR MEMORIAL PROJECT A stunning new architectural feature at one of Australia’s most istmportant landmarks has showcased the unique flexibility and performance of Quanex company Edgetech’s Super Spacer® technology. ‘The Oculus’ skylight at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra is a striking, nine-metre-wide glass and steel structure forming the centrepiece of the Memorial’s new entrance foyer.
engineering and international collaboration. Spanish glass bending specialist Cricursa was tasked with producing 32 intricate, double-curved insulating glass elements, some weighing up to 350 kilograms, that had to fit perfectly within a steel framework manufactured 17,000 kilometres away in Australia. For such complex, heavy, and highly curved units, maintaining the integrity of the
insulating glass edge seal was critical. The solution came in the form of Super Spacer® TriSeal™ Flex, Edgetech’s warm-edge spacer system specially engineered for demanding curved and structural glazing applications. Mike Moran, Vice President of Sales at Edgetech/Quanex, said: “The Oculus is an exceptional example of what’s possible when architectural vision meets the right technology. “Super Spacer® TriSeal™ Flex provides the flexibility and resilience needed to accommodate complex geometries while ensuring the edge seal remains airtight and durable, even under significant mechanical and climatic stress.”
Designed by Sydney-based architects Studio SC, the Oculus mirrors the form of the Memorial’s iconic copper dome, creating a powerful visual and symbolic connection between the original building and its new underground spaces.

SHEERLINE ANNOUNCES WORLD CLASS OTIF FOR 2025 The team at Sheerline are once again celebrating, but this time they haven’t won an award, they’ve maintained their impressive OTIF of 99.4% across the whole year. To demonstrate that this isn’t by accident, but the result of production efficiencies, strategic planning, and strong internal communications, the team have been sharing regular OTIF updates with customers, through adverts, in articles, and via social media.
While this has obviously been a great topic to talk about, it has more importantly provided tangible benefits for Sheerline’s customers. Aside from giving them the visibility to accurately plan their production schedules, they know exactly what they’re getting and when it will arrive, giving them the knowledge that they’ll deliver on their promises for their customers. Sheerline’s Technical Production Director, Ross Hartshorn, commented: “Over the
past 12 months we’ve not only increased our OTIF, but we’ve maintained it – even achieving an OTIF of 100% for a period. Anyone who works in manufacturing knows what an achievement this is.” “It’s the result of changes we’ve made to our machinery, our processes, and internal training to ensure our production teams are working as harmoniously as they possibly can be. It’s clear this approach is working, but we’re always looking for ways to improve,” he added.

SHEERLINE LANDS QUITE THE CATCH AS MARLIN WINDOWS BECOMES NEW FABRICATOR Marlin Windows has become one of the latest fabricators to start supplying Sheerline’s innovative range of aluminium windows, doors and roof-related products. The Keighley-based family-run company wanted to expand its product range to give customers more choice and greater flexibility. Adrian Martin, Marlin’s Managing Director, said: “Marlin chose Sheerline because of the impressive range of innovative aluminium glazing products, and with the added benefit of being easier to fabricate, this ultimately makes the Sheerline system a more costeffective solution for our customers.” This cost-efficiency is the result of Sheerline’s clever system designs. The modular components require less machining and are easier to assemble, plus the shared profiles reduce inventory and the need for stockholding. But these aren’t the only benefits that appealed to the team at Marlin Windows: “What we’re most excited about is the innovative up-to-

date products that are fully developed to easily cope with the latest thermal, ventilation, and security compliance challenges.” “Plus, the fact Sheerline actively works on continued improvements to further enhance the systems and fabricating methods, and it’s a friendly, forward-thinking company that is easily accessible at all times,” he added. The company is currently supplying the full Sheerline range including Classic, Prestige, the S1 Roof Lantern, and the latest Flat Roof System from Sheerline Bespoke. Adrian said: “We are currently developing our showroom to build an S3 structure that will be approximately 6m wide with a 4m
projection – it’ll be large and almost at the maximum size it can currently be made to!” At its base in Keighley, West Yorkshire, Marlin Windows has a modern showroom designed to provide an immersive experience so homeowners can understand what can be realistically achieved with aluminium glazing systems. The company prides itself on offering tailored support to every customer as they do not employ salespeople – all visitors are looked after by an experienced technical advisor who can fully understand the project requirements. When asked to sum up his experience of Sheerline so far, Adrian said: “Sheerline are genuinely interested in what they do, and they do it extremely well. It has been a great start and we are building on this to ultimately provide our valued customers with even more choice and also to enhance the visitor experience in our newly developed showroom.” Howard Hirst, Sheerline Area Sales Director (North), said: “It’s great news Marlin

Installers across the majority of the UK, from Cheshire to Northamptonshire and across the South of England, can now source the full suite of Residence Collection windows systems from Spectral, including Residence 9, Residence 7 and Residence2, fabricated locally with a focus on craftsmanship, lead time efficiency and personalised trade support. The range is widely approved for use on listed buildings and conservation areas and has proven especially popular in heritage rural and premium residential settings. All Residence systems offer advanced thermal efficiency, with u-values as low as 1.2W/m²K with double glazing as standard. The multi-chambered profiles are designed to meet current Document L requirements, and trickle vent options and discreet vent covers help installers comply with Part F where necessary. The systems are available in an extensive palette of up to 26 colours including heritage tones, dual colours and timbereffect finishes. A variety of jointing options are available - including mechanical joints, graf welds, Timberweld®, and traditional
mitre welds - depending on the desired aesthetic and project type. R9 remains a market leader for heritage and period properties, featuring an authentic flush sash and deep traditional detailing. Combined with the reliability and engineering excellence associated with Kömmerling, Armstrong customers have been able to differentiate themselves from lower-spec competitors and secure additional market share throughout the year.

PARTNERSHIP BEYOND PRODUCTS Glass News talks to the team at leading roofline, rainwater, and cladding manufacturer Freefoam Building Products about the importance of customer service and support in helping stockists and installers grow. ‘No man is an island’, wrote English poet John Donne in 1624 – and four hundred years on, we know it’s rare that a business can operate as one either. Strong, successful growth rarely comes from working in isolation, but as many companies expand and grow, a more corporate, transactional style can often take precedence over developing supply chain relationships and partnerships. It takes more time, effort and investment to maintain a personal approach – but the rewards can be so much greater. True partnership is so much more than transactions; it’s about listening, learning, and reliability. With more transactional suppliers, once the product is delivered or collected, you’re on your own. With Freefoam, it’s just the first stage. So what makes us different?
"We have a huge range of sales and marketing collateral and point-of-sale materials."
WE DON’T DICTATE TO CUSTOMERS Our customers each have their own way of doing things, and while we offer a comprehensive package of support, this is tailored for each stockist. It’s not one-sizefits-all – stockists know their own business best! We’re happy to give them the support they need, rather than telling them how to sell. Richard Jackson, Freefoam’s UK Sales Director, explains: “We have a huge range of sales and marketing collateral and pointof-sale materials. But over the past couple of years we’ve found that flexibility works for our customer base. For instance, we have developed bespoke flyers, specific imagery and product focused videos for new websites and social media campaigns, helped out at trade days, and support the opening of new branches.” “Freefoam supported me through opening my first distribution branch with a business partner,” confirms Phil Hunter, Director, “and then my second solo venture, Hunters Building Supplies in Durham. It’s doing really well and picked up customers straight away. Freefoam is getting more customers in for us and helping the business expand.”

We’ve got support from the National Sales Manager, commercial leads, and our ASM is always at the end of the phone to help us out.” Mike England, owner of Yate Building Plastics, agrees. He’d sold Freefoam products and knew the team before setting up his own business, which has grown from strength to strength. “I knew Freefoam’s range, flexibility and willingness to help with independent suppliers, would work for us. commercial leads, and our ASM is always at the end of the phone to help us out.”
WE TREAT OUR CUSTOMERS LIKE PEOPLE, NOT ACCOUNTS In many big businesses, you might have to go through numerous layers of management to get the answers you need. Customers can be seen as account numbers rather than people. At Freefoam we prioritise personal relationships – not just with the sales team but with our Customer Service department too. “I’m on a first name basis with my customers – and not just the owners, but the guy behind the trade counter,” says Steve Shaw, Freefoam ASM for South Wales. “I know how long they’ve worked there, and the issues that matter to them.”
“I’ve met a lot of customers myself now," continues Warren. “In most cases we’ve already established a relationship because we speak on a regular basis - and most Freefoam staff have been here for years but it really helps customers to put a face to a name. It’s about being proactive; my team regularly check-in with customers to see how their last order was – or call and email in advance to see if they need any add-ons. If someone normally orders every Wednesday and it hasn’t come in, we’ll check and ask if we should hold back a minute. If they call us occasionally with an issue, our default is to always try and find a workaround if we can. Our customers know Freefoam is working for them.” To experience the difference partnering makes, call 0800 002 9903 or visit www.freefoam.com to see our full range of roofline, rainwater, and cladding products.

UNLOCKING THE SECRET TO REAL GROWTH Andrew Scott reveals a practical framework for sustainable, profitable growth in the glazing and construction sectors, showing how the right strategy turns leads into loyal customers and advocates. Have you ever wondered why some companies manage consistent, profitable growth year on year while others struggle to make headway? The answer is simpler than you might think, and you don’t need a Harvard business degree to put it into practice. Years ago, I developed a model that could predict whether a business was likely to thrive. Since then, it has guided hundreds of companies in the glazing and construction sectors to achieve steady, sustainable growth. I call it the Business Growth Model: Attract, Convert, Fulfil - or ACF for short. At its heart, business success comes down to three simple but essential components: • Attract: This is about generating a steady flow of highquality leads. Without them, there is no growth. And not all leads are equal; targeting the right ones makes all the difference. • Convert: Turning leads into profitable customers is the next step. Conversion is about finding the right fit and creating value for both your business and your clients. • Fulfil: Finally, you need to deliver on your promises. Meeting or exceeding customer expectations leads to repeat business and recommendations, which form the foundation of long-term growth. The key point is this: the stronger your brand, the more effective each of these components becomes. If your business is growing steadily, all three are working. If it is not, one or more is falling short. The ACF model shows how a business grows, but it does not replace the need for a focused marketing strategy. Too often, I see companies relying on outdated approaches that no longer cut through the noise.
“Understanding and applying the ACF model alongside the 5 A’s framework can transform the way you attract the right customers, convert them into loyal clients, and deliver experiences that turn them into advocates.”
Andrew Scott
At Purplex, we use a five-step model that has helped fabricators, installers, and suppliers achieve tangible results. We call it the Five A’s of Marketing:
like this: sales slow down, so the business responds with a marketing push. Sales pick up, marketing is sidelined and the cycle repeats.
• Audience: Understand your target customer and what matters to them. The better you know your audience, the more effective your marketing will be.
The most successful companies market consistently, not reactively. I often hear financial directors worry about “wasting money” when the order book is full. But that is precisely when marketing pays off. When demand exceeds capacity, you can focus on high-value customers and let the high-maintenance, low-margin ones go.
• Attention: Grab their attention in ways that cut through the clutter. If your product or service isn’t top-of-mind, opportunities are lost. • Authority: Show your expertise and credibility. Case studies, testimonials, awards and reviews are all ways to reinforce trust and confidence. • Action: Make it easy and compelling for people to act. Whether it is making a purchase, booking a call or registering for a service, clarity and persuasion are essential. • Advocacy: Turn customers into champions who recommend your business and come back. One final piece often holds companies back: reactive marketing, or what I call the Marketing Wave. It works
Growth is more than branding, marketing, or lead generation. It is about applying a simple, repeatable formula with discipline and insight. For over two decades, Purplex has helped glazing and construction companies achieve this kind of sustainable, profitable growth. Understanding and applying the ACF model alongside the 5 A’s framework can transform the way you attract the right customers, convert them into loyal clients, and deliver experiences that turn them into advocates. If you want to explore how these models could help your business grow, why not consider joining our series of dedicated webinars we’ll be hosting throughout 2026.

FROM FIXING TO FITTING As its name suggests, Yorkshire-based Sternfenster installer, The Window Doctor, is an expert in window repairs. But thanks to a strong supplier partnership, patching up existing fenestration products is not the only string to its bow. We report. Starting out as a window repair service almost four decades ago, Sternfenster customer, The Window Doctor, also offers installation services to clients around the country - an aspect of the business that it’s keen to expand. “We’re trying to push the installation side of the business at the moment and Sternfenster have been really helpful with that,” says The Window Doctor’s Administration Manager, Kirstie Lawrence. Founded in 1987 by Kirstie’s father, Phil Gledhill, the family business, currently based in Castleford West, Yorkshire, has worked with Sternfenster for almost a decade. In addition to its repair work, the company fits windows and doors and conservatories, as well as conservatory roof replacements. “When my dad first set up the business, there weren’t any other repair businesses around. Everybody was selling brand new windows, so we did focus on the repair side back then, but now we do a bit of both,” explains Kirstie. “As well as domestic work we do commercial fitting jobs on buildings like hospitals, army bases, schools and colleges. We pretty much cover everything,” she adds. “With our name, The Window Doctor, not everybody realises that we do installations, so we’re in the process of updating our website to make our full range of services clear. Sternfenster have been assisting us, helping us to demonstrate everything we offer with a virtual showroom to promote that side of business, which has been great.” Switching to Lincoln-based Deceuninck fabricator, Sternfenster, nine years ago, after experiencing issues with its previous supplier, The Window Doctor team have never looked back. As well as exceptional products, Sternfenster’s robust customer service offering includes the unique online customer portal, SF+, and EasyAdmin+, a cloud-based quoting and delivery processing tool. Both have been game changing for The Window Doctor, as Kirstie explains.
22
“I like the fact that you can do pretty much everything online with Sternfenster. It makes life a lot easier,” she says. “Once we’ve put the order in and sent it through, everything’s available to see on SF+. With live orders or quotes, we’ve got full visibility of their progress and when things are going to be delivered. Any questions or issues are flagged it up; it’s just brilliant. “On the unlikely occasion that a problem does arise, Sternfenster deals with it professionally, straight away. The recent updates to EasyAdmin+ have been fantastic too,” she adds. When it comes to products, Kirstie struggles to single out a favourite, such is the exceptional quality of the Sternfenster range. “All of the Sternfenster products are fantastic,” she enthuses. “I’ve used some of them throughout my own home, which I think says a lot! “Composite doors, French doors, bi-folds, flush casements; they are all high quality, high performing products that look great, manufactured to a very high standard with exceptional colour choice. They’re also easy to fit, and low maintenance, which minimises callbacks.
“Sternfenster keeps you really well informed and the lead times are very good – they’ve reduced significantly which means we don’t have to wait as long, and product delays are very rare.” With Sternfenster’s strong service offering getting results for its customers, The Window Doctor has also benefited from good account manager relations, and sound advice. “Sternfenster always try and help us to drive sales whenever they can,” says Kirstie. “They’ve even given us advice on things like cashflow, which has been really beneficial. With installations, we’d always taken a 50% deposit and then didn’t get the other half until the job was completed. Our account manager suggested taking 50% and then a further 25% prior to order, and that really improved things for us. “They’re always keen to help us, because if we’re doing well, it means that we keep giving our business to them. It’s a mutually beneficial relationship and we’re glad to be a part of it.” For more information visit www.sternfenster.com email sales@sternfenster.co.uk or call 01522 512525. FORGET 2025 AND LOOK FORWARD TO 2026?
Did 2025 prove to be what you expected? Are you on budget or have you exceeded expectations? It looks like 2026 is going to be more of the same. Inept politicians making everyone poorer and raising taxes to cover their own poor decisions. Can our businesses and, indeed, our customers survive the burden placed upon everyone? On the other hand, you may think everything is going swimmingly: and the government are making great decisions that will bode well for the future. Will you be investing in your business with both machinery, technology and staff? Have you embraced AI and has it a part to play within your business? Is it an infallible resource or something to aid you but not believe in, totally?
Ed Williams Managing Director, Stuga
Ian Short Managing Director, Morley Glass
Andy Royle Director and CoFounder, Leads 2 Trade
Claire Rotheram Founder & Director, Out-Do Marketing
2025 has reminded us that stability isn’t something you inherit — it’s something you build. After a challenging period for the wider industry, Stuga focused on restoring the disciplines that define a strong business: clarity of purpose, financial control and consistent delivery.
The relatively weak consumer confidence that has impacted the window and door industry in 2025 looks set to continue throughout 2026. So, while the market overall may remain relatively subdued, it is certainly not all doom and gloom, particularly for companies like Morley Glass who focus on providing the highest quality products.
As we look beyond the noise of 2025 and into 2026, I think the fenestration industry will continue to show the same resilience it always has. Despite political upheaval and the financial pressure placed on both businesses and homeowners, we ended 2025 with a significant rise in consumer enquiries for windows, doors, conservatories and conservatory roofs.
Looking back on 2025, it’s been a year that’s proved what many still underestimate - that growth is entirely possible even in uncertain conditions. While some sectors have struggled, our clients in the fenestration and construction industries have achieved record-breaking results with many doubling turnover compared to last year.
That defied much of the talk about a slowdown, and it’s been driven by more activity across our multiple online channels and a record number of leadgeneration campaigns.
That doesn’t happen by chance. With the right marketing, operations, and strategic clarity, businesses can outperform the economy around them. Success in 2025 wasn’t about survival, it was about smarter decisionmaking, refining processes, amplifying brand presence, and staying visible when others went quiet.
We’ve learned that trust is rebuilt not through slogans, but through everyday reliability — through doing what you say you’ll do, every time. Our progress this year has come from people pulling together, guided by clear goals and open communication. For us, 2026 isn’t about chasing headlines or shortcuts; it’s about continuing to strengthen what lasts — our people, our customers and the technology that connects them, and which has been the backbone of the UPVC industry in the UK for more than 40 years. The lesson of 2025 is that resilience and professionalism still matter. In a world of noise and uncertainty, calm, disciplined execution is what keeps businesses alive — and helps them grow.
26
This is reflected in our order volumes over the last 12 months, which have remained strong and ahead of our forecasts. I believe this is largely because there will always be a sizeable proportion of the market that is prepared to invest in quality – customers who are more concerned about getting products that most closely meet their needs, rather than being focused solely on what they can buy at the lowest cost. And these are the types of customers that Uni-Blinds® integral blind installers can serve extremely well, offering a premium product available in numerous control systems, styles and colours – factors that many homeowners see the long term value in and justify the extra investment.
For installers, that should be the real headline for 2026. The leads will be out there, but only for those in the right position to capture them. In January especially, we expect strong appetite from companies wanting to start the year with a bang, and we’re preparing to welcome new installers onto the network. Homeowners look for experience and qualification when spending on home improvements in tough times, which our installer network provides. With Leads 2 Trade celebrating its 20th year, 2026 is set to be a year of opportunity for anyone ready to scale.
As we enter 2026, I remain optimistic. Confidence is returning, innovation is accelerating, and those who invest wisely will continue to win. Growth isn’t just for the lucky few, it’s for the prepared, the proactive, and those determined to ‘OutDo’ their competition.
Lee Darcy Sales and Marketing Manager, Heritage Trade Frames 2025 has been a strong and rewarding year for Heritage Trade Frames. We entered the year with good momentum, unsure how shifting politics or wider economic pressures might affect the market, but we’ve finished in a significantly stronger position. Our customer base has grown, sales have increased and our continued focus on quality and service has helped us outperform our expectations in what has been, for many, an unpredictable climate. Looking ahead to 2026, we remain optimistic. While new taxation, regulatory changes and global instability will undoubtedly influence the landscape, we believe that preparedness and steady investment are the best antidotes to uncertainty. We’re already committed to new machinery, enhanced technology and expanding our team to support the next phase of our growth. Challenges will continue, but we’re confident in our ability to adapt, remain responsive, and provide the reliability our customers depend on. From our perspective, the year ahead presents more opportunity than risk—and we intend to make the most of it.

Chris Mansfield UK & Ireland Chair, QUALICOAT
Andy Meakin Sales & Marketing Manager, Kenrick
Matt Thomas Managing Director, Haffner
Chris Reeks Managing Director, Fentrade Ltd
Suzanne Nicholl Head of Sales and Marketing, ODL Europe
Nickie West Event Director, FIT Show
As we move into 2026, QUALICOAT UK & Ireland is experiencing a clear upward trajectory in membership and market influence. There has been a steady increase in license applications for powder coat applicators, powder manufacturers and pretreatment system suppliers joining our ranks. Over thirty major powder coat applicators across the UK and Ireland are now licensed and regularly audited against the QUALICOAT Specification which encompasses BS EN 12206.
2025 marked a strong year for Kenrick as we continued to build on the momentum created by several product launches, including our rapidly adopted AK Touch Secure™ smart lock and the new AK Safe Secure Smart Lock Box. Both additions strengthen our growing smart-security portfolio and highlight our commitment to bringing advanced, practical technology into the mainstream hardware market. These launches reflect our determination to offer solutions that deliver real value for fabricators, installers, homeowners and developers.
2025 was a strong year for Haffner, marked by continued growth in machinery sales and a successful FIT Show. The Haffner Machinery Village attracted outstanding engagement across all three machinery zones, generating multiple orders and high-quality enquiries directly from the event.
2025 was a year marked by political upheaval, economic uncertainty and increasing regulatory pressure across the sector. Yet despite that backdrop, Fentrade experienced one of its most strategically important years. Our acquisition by Aluminium Vision provided continuity, investment and fresh capacity, enabling us to maintain strong service levels and support sustained sales growth.
2025 has been a strong and progressive year for ODL Europe, driven by major investments that strengthen the quality, consistency and flexibility of our GRP composite door offer.
2025 has proven the fenestration industry’s resilience amid ongoing economic and political uncertainty. While businesses faced challenges, many have embraced innovation and adaptability to navigate the year successfully.
So why are more coaters joining? There are three main reasons. First, market demand, architects, facade contractors and systems manufacturers increasingly specify the QUALICOAT Specification because it offers recognised assurance of durability, quality and performance for architectural powder-coated aluminium. Second, competitive differentiation, coaters joining QUALICOAT can make use of the QUALICOAT approved quality label, helping them win more premium contracts. Third, process and specification support, QUALICOAT doesn’t just licence, it supports members with training, technical updates and inspection regimes which help coaters raise their internal quality systems and demonstrate compliance.
Looking ahead to 2026, we remain realistic. Market conditions are likely to stay challenging, shaped by wider economic pressures and cost sensitivity. However, Kenrick’s advantage lies in nearly 250 years of resilience, reliability and innovation. That heritage gives our customers confidence that we will continue to adapt and invest, even in tougher trading environments. With further window and door hardware developments due to launch, we enter 2026 with a strong and relevant pipeline. Our focus remains on meaningful innovation and supporting our customers so they can thrive, whatever the new year brings.
www.glassnews.co.uk | January 2026
Our commitment to pushing fabrication forward continues, and 2025 saw the launch of the SL8-FF-TR 8 Head CNC Welding Machine — the only machine in the world capable of seamlessly welding all four corners of a PVC-U frame, plus two timber-effect transoms, in a single automated cycle with no manual cleaning or retouching. It is already reshaping production efficiency and finish quality. Looking to 2026, we remain strongly optimistic. With a healthy pipeline of confirmed orders and growing demand for product differentiation, our Graf seamless welding machines remains a major advantage for fabricators. 2026 also marks 100 years since Haffner was founded — a century of machining excellence that we’re proud to celebrate. While economic pressures persist, fabricators who invest in automation and efficiency will be best placed to thrive.
We have continued to broaden our product portfolio, giving customers access to a wider range of high-quality aluminium solutions. In a market where reliability is increasingly valued, we remain focused on being a stable and dependable trade supply partner. For 2026, the continued drive for better energy performance presents challenges but also opportunity for fabricators who prioritise quality and technical expertise. As part of our growth strategy, relocation options and further expansion plans are being explored to scale in line with customer demand and further strengthen our market position. While taxation, cost pressures and global instability will continue to test the industry, Fentrade enters 2026 with momentum, resilience and a long-term strategy built for sustainable growth.
The opening of our new in-house paint facility has given us full control over finish quality and colour accuracy, allowing us to respond quickly to the rising demand for bespoke and premium colour options while maintaining the highest standards across every door we produce. At the same time, we have doubled the footprint of our in-house door prep facility, increasing capacity and enhancing precision with new CNC technology to support customers with a market-leading preppeddoor service. As we enter 2026, we recognise the economic pressures affecting the wider market. However, ODL Europe has a long history of investing ahead of demand and that strategy continues. With new GRP door developments planned and further enhancements underway, our focus remains on delivering dependable quality, strong partnerships and longterm value helping our customers stay competitive, whatever challenges the new year brings.
Hot on the heels of a hugely successful FIT Show, our focus is now firmly on preparing for FIT Show 2027 (NEC Birmingham from 18–20 May). This will be our most ambitious edition yet with the momentum from the successful 2025 show, which drew over 10,000 industry professionals, setting a strong foundation for 2027. We aim to extend our reach into new sectors and technologies, creating an even more inclusive platform for the entire fenestration ecosystem. Investment in people, partnerships, and smart technology, including AI, will help shape the future. But the power of face-toface remains unrivalled, making FIT Show 2027 a must-attend event for innovation, growth and collaboration in the sector it’s where We FIT Together. I’m excited to see our exhibitor brands coming to life throughout the year ahead and thank the entire industry for their continued support!

Howard Trotter Business Manager, Shelforce
Chris Alderson President Extruded Solutions, Quanex
Kris Bennell President, Steel Window Association
Laura Mercer MD, Associated Steel Window Services
Emplas concluded 2025 on a high, scooping Fabricator of the Year at the G-Awards for the third time in a decade, as well as BIG Business of the Year at the Northamptonshire Business Excellence Awards.
As a business, 2025 has been a year of hard work. Our move into a new, larger factory was a significant milestone and, now we’re fully settled, it’s allowed us to lift our heads and look forward with real confidence. The timing couldn’t be better, as 2026 marks our 25th anniversary, a major moment for TWR Group and one we intend to build on.
As we head into 2026, as an industry can we finally match the pace of the regulatory landscape? Gateway 2 remains absolutely vital, yet the slow and inconsistent approval process continues to hold projects back.
Approaching 2025, Quanex anticipated a challenging year shaped by global events and political decisions. This foresight allowed us to focus on what we could directly influence - keeping our promises to customers! Maintaining a high OnTime-In-Full delivery rate and an unwavering commitment to quality remained at the heart of our approach.
2025 has been a challenging year for the industry, feeling at times like a slow-moving rollercoaster. The industry has experienced bursts of activity in early spring and late summer/autumn, and slow and delayed periods in between. The domestic market has remained relatively steady with predictable peaks and troughs, while the commercial sector has slowed compared to previous years.
For ASWS and the wider industry, the buzzwords of 2025 have been indecision, delay, and budgeting. The construction sector has faced a turbulent year, shaped by a tough investor climate, legislative changes, and wider market uncertainty. Despite this, we’ve seen strong project enquiries and buoyant tenders – making 2025 our busiest year since the mid-2010s. The scale and complexity of projects we’re consulting on from stages 1 to 4 signal a promising bounce back in 2026.
Tougher trading conditions than anticipated saw inflation, interest rates, tax hikes and project backlogs all taking their toll on the industry last year, but we took a proactive approach by innovating and investing to drive growth. We’ve continued to improve our operations, increasing efficiencies and lowering our carbon footprint. This included ramping up our solar power capacity, expanding our manufacturing facilities and developing our own customer business management platform, EVA CRM. We also successfully launched our consumer platform, Snug, and grew the Commercial Window Group installer network, which has delivered millions of pounds of new business for its members. As 2026 begins, this groundwork means our customers are well-placed to take advantage of the opportunities that come their way, not if but when the market picks up in the coming months.

Across the industry, the most striking shift has been the resurgence of uPVC. After years of aluminium dominating the conversation, demand for uPVC has overtaken it in recent months, driven by a buoyant new-build market and homeowners prioritising energy efficiency and value. As a dual uPVC and aluminium fabricator, we’re fortunate to be able to balance both sides and in a year where uncertainty remains, politically, economically and globally, that agility matters. My hope for 2026 is a more even market and a return to stability for aluminium, giving installers and fabricators the consistency they deserve.
For Shelforce, that means we already have significant fire door programmes waiting for the green light in early 2026. The upside is that our recent machinery investment puts us in an ideal position to respond the moment approvals land, giving our customers the capacity and confidence they need. With Awaab’s Law now fully in force for social housing landlords, the pressure to address hazards quickly, whether damp, mould or fire safety, is greater than ever. And rightly so. These regulations aren’t abstract; they protect families who’ve waited long enough for safer, healthier homes. Our focus for 2026 is simple: support customers with compliant, fully traceable products, maintain the highest manufacturing standards, and continue investing in people and technology. In challenging times, doing the right thing matters more than ever.
Despite ongoing headwinds, Quanex through its European brands Edgetech, Liniar, and Schlegel - has outperformed the market. Strategic investments in operational efficiencies, sales execution, and new manufacturing capabilities have helped soften the impact of challenging conditions. We’ve maintained a strong commitment to the UK market - accelerating investment in R&D, product management, and NPD across all brands. 2026 will see an ambitious launch schedule as we aim for a new product every month! We’ve also begun using AI operationally, to make sense of large datasets. While AI isn’t infallible, with human oversight it’s helping us think faster and work smarter, an increasingly powerful aid for the future.
One positive sign is the scale of projects currently in discussion and tendering, with clients making extensive preparations for future work. This indicates strong potential for 2026. Significant replacement and refurbishment projects are being tendered, consulted on, and secured by members across the UK. Although the fenestration industry is still adapting to new legislation introduced this year, these developments show the market remains active and optimistic. Budget permitting, the SWA is confident that 2025 will finish strongly and that 2026 could be a record year for the sector. The groundwork being laid now points to a busy and opportunity-rich future for our industry.
This year has brought a renewed focus on design accuracy before stage 4 tenders, with consultations and surveys ensuring projects are properly scoped for success. Retrofit and refurbishment demand has been a standout trend, reflecting a positive shift in industry priorities. While there’s still much to learn, we’re seeing genuine passion from architects, cost consultants, and site teams to deliver sustainable solutions. The mood is optimistic: 2026 looks set to break the holding pattern and usher in a busy, opportunityrich year. Goodbye to a simmering 2025 – hello to an exciting 2026!

Chris Cooke, Commercial Director, Sheerline Bespoke
Difficult market conditions necessitate change and to deliver it Polyframe invested heavily in 2025. We reduced our cost base by consolidating manufacturing into one site following the installation of a new state of the art welding line. We expanded our commercial team and worked closer than ever with our key customers and suppliers tackling opportunities together as partners.
2025 has been a fantastic first seven months for Sheerline Bespoke. Since our official FIT Show launch, the momentum has surpassed expectations not just in the number of customers coming on board, but in the quality of conversations we’re having. It’s clear the market was ready for a simpler, more design-led way to access high-end aluminium roofing products, and our installation-ready kits have hit that sweet spot.
Growth has come through different routes to market and the supply of thousands of frames to large commercial projects complementing our existing trade business. In more recent days we have begun an exciting period of new product launches in response to changing customer demands and market innovation. We will soon also launch system and process improvements so it’s easier for our customers to trade with us allowing them more time to focus on growing their business. We are looking forward to 2026 – I don’t expect it to be any easier, but the steps we have taken and those that our team are working on, will give us the best chance to thrive.
Looking ahead, I expect 2026 to bring more of the same challenges, political uncertainty, rising costs and ongoing pressure on the supply chain. But despite that backdrop, I’m optimistic as demand for premium aluminium roofing solutions continues to strengthen. The standout for 2026 will undoubtedly be Sheerline’s S3 Architectural Roof System entering full market availability. Its coordinated aesthetics and step-change in thermal performance will genuinely move the category forward. With the S3 landing and more innovations in development, we’re heading into 2026 with confidence that aluminium is set to continue driving industry trends.

Luke Osborne UK Sustainability Lead, Senior Architectural Systems’ nergy-efficiency and sustainability have long been a major focus for the aluminium fenestration industry but increasingly, architects and contractors are increasingly demanding a higher standard of product information and technical transparency from manufacturers. We were quick to respond to this need by launching our new product-specific Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for our SF52 aluminium curtain wall system. In a first for our sector, this EPD includes non-linear scaling but importantly omits insulated glass units as these are typically not supplied by system houses and so can significantly skew the data. With a new set of EPDs ready to launch in the New Year, we are committed to bucking the trend and continuing to provide clear and independently verified environmental data on our products. With the continual growth in commercial projects funded through green finance, it is vitally important that environmental data is both accurate and transparent. Supporting our customers with the latest advice, technical guidance and product training will continue to be a priority for us in 2026.

Political instability, rising taxes, and tightening household budgets will continue to put pressure on both installation businesses and the customers they serve. But in fenestration, resilience has always been part of our DNA, and the companies that thrive will be those that adapt early and invest wisely.
2025 has been a strong year for us, and better than many expected. The market has been challenging at times, but we’ve grown because our purpose is simple: we exist to help our customers make more money by delivering the right glass first time, so they can get on with the other parts of their business. That clarity has guided everything we do.
2025 certainly wasn’t plain sailing. The double whammy of NI and Minimum Wage increases hit businesses hard and consumer uncertainty led to a challenging market. That said, we did exceed (albeit modest) expectations in 2025 and grew sales, thanks to hard graft from our team and innovative product launches, including our range of Engineered Door Components.
For us, that means doubling down on safe, efficient working at height. Since Grenfell, compliance has only moved in one direction, with CDM and Work at Height Regulations enforced more tightly than ever. Fines are now unlimited, and cases of £30,000-plus for unsafe window fitting are becoming far more common. Against that backdrop, technologies like Stronghold®, now spanning 5m and supporting three engineers, are no longer a ‘nice to have’ they’re a commercial necessity. They help installers complete work safely, in days not weeks, while increasing margins and opening the door to more complex, higher-value projects. But tools alone won’t define 2026; a commitment to professionalism and safer, smarter working will. My wish for the industry? That we continue raising standards, and prove that even in tough times, innovation still wins.
We’ve picked up new work this year because people know exactly what they get from Topline - a quality product, a team that takes pride in doing things properly, and a service built around keeping their projects moving. In a year where time and margin were under pressure, that reliability really mattered. Looking ahead to 2026, I’m optimistic. The politics will be noisy, but the industry feels stable and there’s opportunity for businesses that stay consistent and keep standards high. We’ll continue investing in machinery, technology and our people. AI helps, but it’s our team’s attitude and day-to-day pride that really drives our success.
If 2025 has taught us anything, it’s that even when the horizon is looking bleak, having the confidence to push forward, continue to invest and develop new products pays off, so that is what we’ll continue to do in 2026. Introducing new technology will improve efficiency in the factory and in the office. A new Forel automated IGU line, that has the capability to make thin triple IGUs, is being installed in February and we’re investing in AI, new system integrations and automations to improve customer experience. And there’s a series of product launches planned to keep helping the trade differentiate themselves. We’re a strong industry, and with the Government choosing not to back us, we’ll just have to back ourselves.

Scott Dodgson Commercial Director, PROSPECTManager & WindowBASE Many industries have switched on to the power of data, transforming their sales and marketing. But, with a few exceptions, windows and doors have been slow to catch on. Sticky inflation and low growth have been squeezing disposable income, and it’s knocked the stuffing out of the mass market. With too much capacity chasing lower demand, competition has intensified. There’ve been big casualties. Many smaller firms have also gone. With more ways to buy today, marketing is harder. So, data-driven marketing has come into its own. Direct marketing always made sense. But identifying potential customers and getting to speak to them - ahead of competitors makes perfect sense. It’s the smart way to grow in good markets and bad. AI, the new-kid-on-theblock, is always in the headlines. But, engines of innovation are only as good as the fuel that powers them: DATA. Owen Coop CEO Carl F Groupco
Mark Dicconson Managing Director, John Fredericks
2025 was another strong year for Carl F Groupco. We continued to reinforce our position as a leading independent hardware supply partner and further expanded our product portfolio to ensure fabricators stay ahead of the curve. This included strategic growth in the smart home space with innovative solutions such as AK Touch Secure™, Tedee and Maco Sensors, giving customers compelling new ways to add value.
Despite a tough trading climate, 2025 delivered a solid performance for John Fredericks. While I typically target 10% year-on-year growth, the market simply didn’t allow for that level of ambition. I’m incredibly proud of achieving 7% growth in a depressed and highly competitive environment it underlines the strength, resilience and focus within our business.
As economic pressures look set to continue throughout 2026 and the market remains contracted and highly competitive, having a partner with proven stability and reliability becomes even more important. We have a long history of supporting fabricators with technical expertise, proactive service and dependable hardware supply across a wide portfolio of leading brands. We have successfully navigated many economic cycles by continually investing and evolving. With further new products launching shortly, we remain focused on helping customers unlock opportunities, whether that’s improving efficiency, enhancing security, or meeting compliance demands. Our commitment is to keep our customers competitive and make 2026 a year of forward progress.
Looking ahead, I remain firmly committed to our three-year growth strategy. That means concentrating on the areas we can influence - innovation, product competitiveness, and absolute customer service excellence - rather than giving too much attention to political noise. Cash management will be critical for fabricators and installers. Ensuring that material and administrative increases are passed on responsibly will be essential to safeguarding profitability. Our continuous investment programme remains unchanged. We will keep enhancing our machinery, IT, and infrastructure to ensure customers and colleagues benefit from the best technology available. AI has a role to play, but never at the expense of genuine relationships. Authentic, personal interaction is at the heart of our business and always will be.
Kurt Greatrex Managing Director, Dekko Window Systems As my first year as MD, 2025 has certainly delivered its fair share of challenges. The first half of the year was exceptionally busy, which brings a nice set of problems, while the second half brought a new set of challenges with the market dropping. Looking ahead, I’m cautiously optimistic. Higher-end products tend to remain resilient in tougher conditions, and we expect that trend to continue into 2026. We’re also investing significantly in our manufacturing capability, with another seamless welder arriving in January. This will boost capacity on our fully seamless offering and provides added security alongside our existing fivehead machine. It’s a clear sign of the confidence and support Inwido continues to show in the business. With Fast Frame recently joining the Inwido Group as a bolt on to Dekko, there’s further opportunity ahead, particularly in bringing aluminium into their commercial offering, manufactured at Dekko. Uncertainty remains, but 2026 also brings real potential. Our focus is simple: keep investing, keep improving, and keep delivering for our customers.
Neil Evans Managing Director, VEKA plc
Aidan Harte CEO, Freefoam Building Products Ltd
Realism and recalibration in fenestration will define 2026. I don’t expect a single policy announcement, interest rate shift or housing intervention to transform the sector overnight. Instead, progress will come from businesses acting steadily and deliberately focusing on productivity, sustainability and giving homeowners confidence to invest.
We remain guardedly optimistic for the UK economy, with the IMF predicting it will be the second fastest-growing G7 economy in 2026.
Low growth will remain the norm, making efficiency, mix and margin key performance levers. Those who deploy capital carefully and modernise existing operations will be better placed than those chasing volume. Regulation will continue to tighten, but in an uneven way that adds burden faster than it does clarity. VEKA will support ambitious energy-efficiency standards, while arguing for proportionate, evidencebased implementation. Sustainability will increasingly separate leadership from marketing noise. Higher recycled content and circular operations will be essential for long-term credibility. Automation will shift to a necessity, even if investment must be phased and pragmatic. And as homeowners focus on monthly affordability rather than lump-sum spending, finance and transparency will be central to converting demand.
In the home improvements market, we found demand for roofline and cladding increased in 2025, particularly for coloured/ foiled products; we expect this to continue. Housebuilders and homeowners are looking for high-quality, long-lasting products that add value. Our high-end Fortex® Naturale cladding range, for example, has generated much interest. We’ve supported our customers’ growth – and will continue to do so with new launches, sales support, new marketing materials, and professional videos promoting stockists. Meanwhile, our investment in sustainability has provided opportunities for distributors and installers, as the supply chain looks for products backed by specific, transparent reporting. After achieving an EcoVadis Silver medal for the 3rd year (in the top 6% of companies assessed), we set out a fiveyear sustainability plan with targets at freefoam.com/ professional/sustainabilityarchive. Innovation, capital investment, customer relationships and sustainability are the keys to unlocking growth in 2026.

2025 was a solid year, not only did we exceed our targets, but we also added three innovative products to our range with the Bi-Fold Vent, the Modular Vent and the MSBP (Multi-System Bridge Packer). All designed to make work easier for fabricators and installers.
While 2025 has undeniably been a challenging year for the construction sector, it has largely unfolded as expected. Market uncertainty, high borrowing costs and the well-documented delays created by Gateway 2 of the Building Safety Act have all contributed to a slower pace of project starts. Against this backdrop, the industry continues to show resilience, with many stakeholders focusing on renovation and adaptive reuse as more predictable routes to delivery.
With the recent Budget offering mixed fortunes, we are cautiously optimistic that the economic outlook will improve for the aluminium supply chain.
Looking back, 2025 brought more challenges than we expected. Intense pricing pressure in the first half, combined with government-driven cost increases—particularly the rise in National Insurance - meant we had to make carefully managed price adjustments. At the same time, delays in the planning system continued to hold back new-build activity, adding further pressure across the supply chain.
Our success over the last 40 years is due to our consistent investment and growth strategies that have made Glazpart more robust and resilient. Staying ahead of the game, preparing for upcoming legislation and policy changes is vitally important. For example in 2022, the interim changes in Building Regulations (Approved Document F - means of ventilation) resulted in the launch of the award winning Link Vent 4000 which proved a valuable addition for many fabricators and installers. Though it is a tough trading environment, business agility is key for survival. Generally the signs and economic experts indicate a slow and gradual improvement next year. We remain optimistic for 2026, with several new developments and partnerships which will be announced in the new year.
We have seen strong engagement with refurbishment schemes throughout 2025, with Schüco systems playing a role in several highprofile projects. This shift is something we expect to continue into 2026 as clients look to maximise the value of existing assets while reducing embodied carbon. Sustainability remains a defining theme. Our Low Carbon and Ultra Low Carbon aluminium profiles have been widely adopted, reflecting the sector’s determination to cut carbon emissions through material selection as well as design. Looking ahead, 2026 will bring further regulatory, economic and geopolitical challenges -but also significant opportunities for those ready to innovate, invest and adapt.
www.glassnews.co.uk | January 2026
CAB celebrated a year of strong progress and membership growth in 2025, and as 2026 begins, we’re doubling down on our role as champions of aluminium’s use within the UK construction sector. Prioritising sustainability and technical leadership, we aim to build on the success of initiatives such as our Closed Loop Recycling Scheme and U-value Charter, for the benefit of the aluminium community. As participation across our committees, working groups and networking opportunities increases, a renewed appetite for collaboration is clear, as the industry adapts to new competency expectations and regulatory requirements. With the Building Safety Act at the forefront of our minds, CAB is keen to make demonstrating competence simpler, faster and more credible. As part of this we will continue to work closely with the Joint Competency Initiative (JCI) and government to have manufacturer and installer training formally recognised as Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
Despite these headwinds, we’ve remained resilient and disciplined. Performance has been robust, and we’re on track to meet our fullyear targets - something that reflects the commitment of our teams in a difficult operating environment. The Autumn Budget has introduced yet more cost pressures, including higher National Living Wage rates and new obligations around employing and training younger workers. Meaningful tax relief is still urgently needed to help businesses and customers manage sustained inflationary pressures. In recent years we’ve invested heavily in strengthening our operation, modernising our manufacturing facilities and refining our structure for longterm efficiency. This puts us in a strong position for 2026, where our focus will shift toward expanding our skilled workforce. It won’t be an easy year, but we’re prepared.
Sarah Hitchings Sales and Marketing Director, The Residence Collection
Gregory Kelly Managing Director, Entrance Composite Door Solutions
Looking back on 2025, it’s been a year of contrasts. While the market has been fairly challenging, the second half of the year was much stronger than we anticipated and we’ve outperformed 2024, which is something we’re extremely pleased with. We’re also pleased to have enjoyed a very successful FIT Show and launch of our new Residence Entrance Door.
The composite door sector heads into 2026 in good shape – but only for manufacturers who refuse to join the race to the bottom. Yes, there’s tax pressure and housing market uncertainty, but homeowners are still spending on quality doors that deliver real energy savings.
The peaks and troughs did make forecasting and management more difficult at times, but overall we’ve seen growth in both turnover and volume. Margins have been harder to maintain in light of rising labour and direct costs, so we’ve focused heavily on improving efficiencies, including a recent overhaul of our transport offering. As we look ahead to 2026, I expect conditions to remain challenging for the industry, but we are forecasting growth for The Residence Collection. We’ve already signed off significant capital investment for the year ahead, and technology will play an increasingly important role, from our AI-powered website live chat to plans for incorporating automation into a new online ordering platform.
Here’s the thing: with the Future Homes Standard tightening its grip, Part L and Part Q compliance isn’t a selling point anymore – it’s the minimum requirement. The manufacturers who’ve been treating these standards as baseline for years will pull ahead of those still shouting about them in marketing materials. Our approach for 2026? Steady, quality-focused growth. We’re expanding our range, yes, but not at the expense of the manufacturing standards our installer network has come to rely on. When times are uncertain, the businesses that come out stronger are those backing their partners with solid products, proper support and absolute consistency. That’s not marketing speak – it’s our blueprint for 2026 and beyond. Because we know installer confidence comes from what we deliver, not what we promise.

There will be less disposable income, so we have to fight harder for what is available. On the flip side, with less incentive for people to save or leave money sitting in low-return accounts, we may see funds released that were previously locked away.
This year has presented significant challenges for the fenestration industry. Prolonged decision making, persistent inflation and government mandated increases in National Insurance contributions and the National Living Wage have suppressed demand and reduced already tight margins. Many businesses have found themselves absorbing rising costs while trying to maintain service levels in a market that remains cautious.
I will put 2025 down to experience. It’s been one of the most unpredictable years I have experienced in my 40-year career; predictions in this climate are foolhardy. However, one thing is certain: no government – regardless of party – can help everyone at once and expecting them to do so is unrealistic. We simply have to wait our turn. That’s why I believe 2026 has a good chance of improving on last year. Why? Because we have a political administration that is now finding its feet, we’re yet to see the outcome of significant planning reforms and, overall, I have a positive disposition.
In this climate, ensuring a streamlined and efficient customer journey is absolutely key. Honesty and integrity matter more than ever. The companies that follow up, stay engaged and take a genuinely solutionsbased approach will be the ones that come out on top. There’s no real need to rely on discounting; instead, focus on selling the value of what’s being offered, including sustainability credentials. At Caribbean Blinds we’ll be continuing our own investment in technology, including price estimators, automation of admin tasks and the use of AI to make it easier for consumers to research and understand our products. Wherever possible, tech should boost efficiency without taking away the personalised touch that builds trust and long-term loyalty.

The recent budget did not provide the necessary economic stimulus and has further constrained consumer spending by freezing tax thresholds. Homeowners and developers are taking a more measured approach, delaying projects or scaling back scope, which places additional pressures across the supply chain. To address the cost of living crisis and other ongoing challenges, fostering greater prosperity and opportunity is essential, not just for the construction sector but the wider economy. Restoring confidence to spend and invest will be critical for improving revenue and margins in 2026. Businesses that can demonstrate clear value, long term reliability and strong customer support will be best placed to navigate the year ahead.
As for our business, well, this will be my ninth year leading the Group and, in that time, we have invested every year in plant, people, and processes, and 2026 will be no different. AI has been part of our business for some years and has enabled us to move at pace. This approach, coupled with a reduced carbon footprint and shortened supply chain sourced from UK companies, means we’re starting the year stronger than ever.
David Thornton Chairman, The Window Company (Contracts) Ltd
Tracey Jackson Business Development Manager, Howells Patent Glazing
In the social housing sector where we primarily operate, we had our best trading year ever in 24/25 and, with the G25 Award for Customer Care now sitting proudly in our trophy cabinet, 25/26 is on course to be even better still.
The Autumn Budget 2025 was warily anticipated, with many across the industry braced for significant upheaval. In the end, however, it proved to be far less disruptive than expected. While it certainly prompted discussion and caused some early ripples, the overall impact has been more measured, offering a level of stability that many thought might be lost.
With long term contracts in place with several leading social housing providers, we are in a much more comfortable position than most installers working in retail, where I think ongoing uncertainty in the economy, and the recent tax rises will continue to dent consumer confidence next year. In terms of our market, we’re finally starting to see PVC-U flush sashes making inroads into social housing refurbishment as they become more affordable - which represents a new opportunity for fabricators, but we’re yet to see any discernible take up of aluminium products, even though it’s increasingly being talked about in terms of sustainability. For us, 2026 will continue to be about holding firm on our margins, supporting our suppliers with prompt payment and maintaining stability by working hard to implement our own payment terms.
One of the most noticeable shifts in the workplace, especially over the past 12 months, is the use of artificial intelligence. AI is increasingly becoming a practical tool, and I believe it has a rightful place when used with intention and clear direction. It is particularly useful for breaking down bulky information into more manageable pieces and helping streamline everyday tasks, enabling teams to work more efficiently. In 2026 we will be finding ways to utilise AI to enhance rather than replace human performance in the workplace – through automation and communication, creative and skills support; ensuring technology strengthens rather than overshadows the value people bring.
Sean Mackey and Adam Jones Directors, Jade We work closely across all the systems houses – both aluminium and uPVC – working on projects from complete production line refits and the simplest of re-tweaks. As the impact of this autumn’s budget sets in, the nervousness in making large capital investments will dig in. We are already working with fabricators to implement small, inexpensive tweaks crucial for them to keep pace with demand with minimal disruption to cash flow. Our motive is always to fix the problem in a way that enhances the manufacturing process without unnecessary expense. But we urge fabricators of all sizes not to neglect fundamental maintenance protocols in a bid the save short term cash flow. If you are having issues, call us. Often the issue can be fixed simply and efficiently. Ignoring it could end up costing you significantly more!

Are we being AIshamed into adopting this incredible technology without even understanding how it can benefit us? The truth of the matter is we have been integrating various versions of AI over the last couple of decades – it just didn’t have a fancy name back then.
My question for 2026 is this – what is the point of the government setting net zero targets if companies can continue to claim fraudulently that their products comply without proper scrutiny? It makes a mockery of the thousands that genuine, up front and honest companies spend ensuring their product meet these targets.
Regular readers of this fine publication and my Cold Calling column will probably guess the tone of comment I would like to make about 2026 following Rachel Thieve’s latest assault on the British wallet.
On paper, the construction industry as a whole should be booming, with its knock on effect impacting fenestration with a steady supply of new products going into this much lauded 1.5 million house building programme.
I’m a naturally positive person – but in short, we’re f***ed! And I fear that 2027 is going to be even worse than 2026 in terms of the tax burden stripping us all of any final vestige of motivation as this government continues to dismantle everything great about this great nation chunk by chunk!
Yet what do we see? Crickets.
My concern is for window companies being sold whiz bang AI gizmos by people with absolutely no understanding of the deep down workings of the fenestration industry. On paper (the old fashioned kind which requires a pen) it all sounds great. In practice, it is just a shiny veneer that is in misstep with your business. The approach should be fenestration first, AI second – which will give users a much more seamless and transparent transition into harnessing this technology to their advantage. If you find yourself using AI without even realising it, then you can consider it an absolute success.
So 2026 is going to see no let up in me banging the drum about the fictional use of U-value claims for doors that are simply not up to the job. I’ve yet to come across a single person who disagrees with me – and yet we are no further forward now than we were 12 months ago. Consumer trends are shifting upwards in terms of quality. Strapped homeowners are buying less, but buying good. They deserve to receive what they pay for – not a hollow fake. It needs calling out once and for all!
The great thing about positivity is that it widens your viewpoint and allows you to see opportunities that those more pessimistically minded cannot see. So I have decided to put the blinkers on and do no more than I have to do to survive, and be as completely tax efficient as possible. The less I can possibly give this government the better!
With a massive drive towards net zero and a laser focus on sustainability, homeowners the length and breadth of the UK should be ripping out their existing windows and doors and replacing them with the latest more energy efficient models. So why does the marketplace seem to be shrinking quicker than bubble wrap under a hairdryer? It’s perfectly clear to everyone that this government hasn’t got a clue about running a business – luckily there are many brilliant people in this industry who do. While it’s tempting to hunker down and ignore the worst of what’s going on, I’d like to see a groundswell in the movers and shakers of this industry rising up and rising above the crisis deepening foundations so that, once this incumbent government has imploded, we are ready to ride the crest of the wave. Talk strong. Talk positive. Talk with authority.

Mike Parczuk CEO, Sternfenster 2025 was a challenging year for many, but for us it was also one of real progress. Despite economic uncertainty and the continued pressure placed on both businesses and homeowners, we remained resilient by focusing on what we could control: investing in our people, improving our processes, and accelerating our digital transformation. Achieving Platinum Investors in People status was a milestone that reflected the culture we’ve built and the commitment of our teams. Looking to 2026, I’m optimistic, albeit realistically. The political landscape may not make life easier, but the companies that thrive will be those that innovate, adapt, and build efficiency into every corner of their operation. That’s why our digital strategy will continue to shape everything we do. Tools like EasyAdmin+ and AskKev are helping installers quote faster, sell smarter and run leaner, and we’ll keep investing in machinery and technology to strengthen reliability across our manufacturing. My hope for 2026 is simple: that our industry backs itself. With the right partners, tools and mindset, there’s still huge opportunity ahead.
Elton Boocock Managing Director, Business Pilot When I look back at 2025, what stands out most is the level of uncertainty installers have had to navigate. Homeowners have been cautious, budgets have been stretched, and winning work has required more persistence and professionalism than ever. Yet I’ve also seen a huge amount of resilience across the industry. Many businesses have used this period to sharpen their operations, strengthen their customer journey, and invest in the systems that will carry them forward. For me, that’s the real message going into 2026. We can’t control politics, the economy, or how quickly confidence returns, but we can control how efficiently we operate. The companies that respond quickly, communicate clearly, and create a seamless customer experience will be the ones best positioned to succeed, whatever the year brings. My hope for 2026 is simple: that businesses continue to use technology not as a silver bullet, but as a foundation. Strong processes create strong performance, and those who build that strength now will be the first to accelerate when the market turns.

AI has dominated many conversations, not just as a time-saving tool, but as something that’s genuinely reshaping how we all work. It’s exciting and it’s forcing us to think differently. There’s still uncertainty, but demand hasn’t vanished - it’s just become smarter. Customers are asking better questions, doing their homework, and really thinking things through, which is pushing everyone to level up. The good news? There will always be opportunities for those willing to innovate and invest in their brand. Agile businesses who understand their market and put energy into the right areas don’t just weather the storm, they keep moving forward. Looking ahead, we’re hopeful. More businesses are thinking strategically long-term rather than reacting to tough times and the appetite for proper, joined-up marketing is growing. If 2025 has shown anything, it’s that investing in marketing, brand and communication is not a “nice to have.” It’s essential.

Richard Hammond Sales Director, Universal Trade Frames 2025 was a great year for us despite challenging market conditions, and as we enter our 30th year of trading, many of these challenges remain. But the business is there for those who can offer the right products to the right people. With the economic outlook likely to squeeze margins further, customer support will be vital, and installers will need a supply partner that’s willing to go the extra mile. We’ll continue to focus on providing premium, quality windows and doors, with the service to match. This includes a simple, reliable and efficient single-source model, underpinned by our industry-leading ‘If It’s Faulty, It’s Free’ guarantee. Customer-led innovation remains central to what we do, and we’re excited about the opportunities our new Residence Open-In Door with Smart Security will bring for our trade partners as the smart revolution gathers pace.

Mark Atkinson Sales Director, Hurst This time last year, businesses were navigating higher taxation, rising operational costs and reduced confidence across the construction and manufacturing sectors. As 2026 begins, many of those pressures remain, creating a familiar sense of uncertainty for the industry. Despite this, 2025 has shown that demand has not disappeared, it has simply become more selective. Customers are placing greater emphasis on product performance, compliance and long-term value, and manufacturers that continue to invest and innovate are the ones best positioned to move forward with confidence. At Hurst, we’ve continued to grow through 2025 in a saturated market by maintaining a clear focus on accredited performance, product development and customer support. The introduction of our PAS24accredited Securicore™ innovation, alongside seven new panel designs, reflects a wider shift towards higherperforming PVC door solutions that challenge outdated perceptions of the sector. With more door products available than ever before, differentiation, technical credibility and service will continue to define success in 2026.
Emma Mitchell Director, Euroglaze
Jay Patel Director, Everglade Windows
Chris Burrows Commercial Director, Vista Panels
Despite the challenging economic climate, Euroglaze has continued to evolve this year, and we can look ahead to 2026 with a good degree of confidence.
2025 has tested the whole fenestration sector, yet it has also shown how resilient and resourceful our industry can be. While the year has not unfolded exactly as anyone hoped, it has highlighted that progress still happens when you stay close to your customers, understand what they are facing and work harder to help them uncover opportunities others miss. That approach is the foundation of how we operate, and it remains our focus for 2026.
2025 has been a year that tested every part of the supply chain, yet it has also shown me what we can achieve when the pressure is on.
We have remained strong and resilient while many around us of have faltered and that’s largely because we have doubled down on our core strengths. We’re a One Stop Shop fabricator offering what is arguably the widest range of Rehau and Liniar products of any UK trade fabricator, and this year we’ve invested in new machinery and added even more products including the Liniar Alumina bifold, so our customers really don’t need to go anywhere else. And with a highly advanced lean manufacturing operation and scalable capacity, we’ve shown that we can guarantee quality, choice, fast lead times and competitive prices without putting the stability of our operation at risk. Fabricators that don’t have that scalable capacity may struggle next year as margins continue to be tight, but Euroglaze will be looking to build on the momentum from 2025 and expand our range and our customer base still further.
I’m realistic about the wider political and economic backdrop, yet I’m genuinely optimistic about the year ahead. Not because conditions are rapidly improving, but because I continue to see customers succeed when they have the right tools, the right insight and the right support. From high-performance products to our quarterly TECHtalk webinars, our Trade Customer Conference and ongoing product development, we focus on giving installers practical advantages they can turn into real opportunities. My expectation for 2026 is steady upward movement built on action. If we stay proactive and keep helping customers find the gaps in a tighter market, there is every reason to approach the year with confidence.
In a market that has lacked momentum, we’ve continued to move forward by focusing on what we do best. Our PVCu panel doors and XtremeDoor composite range have helped us secure new opportunities, strengthen relationships and take share in both new build and social housing at a time when demand has been flat at best. Trade has been the toughest area, with many installers experiencing double-digit declines, and it has been difficult to see long-standing family businesses struggle. Even so, there have been real highlights. New business wins have been steady, customer retention has remained exceptional, and our NPD projects for 2026 are progressing at pace. Internally, the work the team has done to recruit, stabilise and improve operations means we finish the year in a stronger position than we started. Growth will need to be earned in 2026, but with continued investment in people, service, new systems and product development, I’m confident about what Vista can deliver.

VOICE OF THE INDUSTRY
The UK’s Leading Glass & Glazing Newspaper
Greg Johnson CEO, Warwick North West
Bradley Gaunt Managing Director, Made For Trade
Sam Nuckey Managing Director, Window Ware
This has been one of the toughest years I’ve experienced in business. Rising national insurance, increased wages, and general cost pressures have squeezed margins. The frustrating part is that raising prices in line with these costs feels impossible when you’re competing in an industry that often races to the bottom.
2025 unfolded much as we anticipated: a challenging year shaped by the economic fallout of the autumn budget. Despite the headwinds, we continued to innovate, launching four major products: the Korniche Lantern, our new budget-friendly Flat Glass system, the Korniche Flat Lite™, a prefabricated SIPs upstand and our new heritage Glass Partition system. These have been real successes, albeit delivered later than we’d intended. Broadlythough, we remained on budget throughout the year.
As we look ahead, it’s hard to see 2026 being shaped by any meaningful government policy that will create fresh opportunity for our sector. More austerity is needed to manage the ‘UK books’ which means lower disposable income for all and tighter decision making for businesses, public sector and households.
That said, there are positives. Despite the challenges, we’re still performing at levels that would have seemed remarkable pre-COVID. The government’s commitment to building more homes gives me genuine optimism; more houses mean more demand for windows and doors, which benefits everyone in our sector. I truly hope they can deliver on it. I’m particularly encouraged by the £725 million pledged for apprenticeships at the recent budget, funding 50,000 new training places. At Warwick, we’ve seen firsthand how apprenticeships tackle the skills shortage, and they’ve brought great young talent into our ranks. If the government follows through on housing and skills development, 2026 could surprise us all. We’re certainly investing with that hope in mind.
The wider political and economic landscape has been, frankly, atrocious. Short-sighted policies like the national insurance and minimum wage increases were positioned as a way to stimulate spending, yet ultimately they raised business costs, contributed to inflation and undermined the UK’s competitiveness. Looking ahead, 2026 will see significant investment from us, with several exciting projects in the pipeline. AI already plays a daily role within the business, and its integration will only deepen. Our primary concern is consumer confidence, but our ambition remains clear: to continue strengthening our products, services, and the Korniche brand throughout 2026.
www.glassnews.co.uk | January 2026
The UK can’t keep robbing from its future by overspending today, that’s just simple maths. At the same time, continuing to burden companies with extra costs and legislation won’t deliver the growth we desperately need. So as an industry, 2026 must be about generating our own opportunities. New and re-engineered products, stronger design-led choices, and real differentiation will be essential in helping windows and doors stand out in the crowd against other high-ticket purchases. AI will certainly play a bigger role in the sales process, improving visualisation and speeding up end-user decisions, but it won’t replace the value of a personal, personable experience. Ultimately, people still buy from people, and that remains our greatest strength.
Martin Hitchin CEO, REHAU UK The Budget’s emphasis on housebuilding and regeneration will provide opportunities for installers and fabricators into 2026, but homeowners are also being more cautious with their money, with every purchase scrutinised. Whether it’s more opportunities in commercial construction or jostling for business in the residential market, positioning is critical. Though competing on price is important, fabricators and installers must avoid a ‘raceto-the-bottom’ mentality. Homeowners and developers still value quality. The old saying ‘buy cheap, buy twice’ rings true here – trust matters, and price alone can’t undo reputational damage from installing lower-quality systems. Instead, fenestration professionals should demonstrate the advantages of premium uPVC frames throughout their lifetime, emphasising their durability, thermal performance and low maintenance requirements. Underpinning all this is the need to be as visible as possible to potential customers. Marketing should not be overlooked, and it certainly isn’t optional – it’s a year-round investment to help fenestration professionals stand out in a highly competitive market. Communicate value, demonstrate a commitment to excellence, and work to enhance and protect your reputation.
Mike Bygrave Director, Roseview Windows 2025 has been a tough year for our industry. Insolvencies are up and installers—on the front line generating the sales that support us all—have faced a consistently difficult market. I think most of us saw it coming. At Roseview we planned for a slowdown by sharpening our focus on sales, customer support and operations. That preparation paid off; we’ve had a strong year and, with our support, so have many of our customers. The outlook for 2026 feels similar, with little sign that external conditions are changing. So there’s no room for complacency. But with prudent planning and a customer-first approach, 2026 can be another successful year. The work is out there. What would help everyone though is a calmer backdrop. After years of toxic, highly-charged news cycles and social media, it’s no surprise that consumer confidence is fragile. In an environment where global events are having a greater effect on our industry than any Budget or regulatory change, a steadier, less divisive backdrop would benefit us all.
Arun Photay Managing Director, Glass Express Midlands For us, 2025 was a year of purposeful growth. We saw strong demand across both residential and commercial sectors and delivered a 15% year-on-year increase in sales – driven by major new contracts, expanded delivery capacity and continued investment in our Oldbury site. Entering 2026, the momentum within social housing in particular is clear, and our high-volume IGU production and upgraded nationwide delivery schedule put us in a strong position to support that growth. But growth must be responsible. This year we continued our sustainability journey with targeted upgrades across the business, including our new arrisser, which uses almost 75% less energy while improving edge quality and consistency. Alongside LED lighting, electric company vehicles and our glass-cullet recycling commitment, we’re reducing our carbon footprint while improving product performance. Despite economic uncertainty, my outlook for 2026 is optimistic. Demand for higher-spec glazing is rising, and customers want suppliers who can offer reliability, technical expertise and sustainability in equal measure. That’s exactly what we’ll continue to deliver.

VOICE OF THE INDUSTRY
Amelia Gaughan Head of Marketing, Affordable Windows Group This year we’ve seen PVC sales nudge ahead of aluminium which is a clear sign of shifting consumer habits and the growing appetite for heritage inspired aesthetics – something the industry could certainly capitalise on. At Affordable Windows Group, investment has always been part of our DNA. Regardless of the wider economic picture, we’re committed to strengthening our infrastructure. In 2026, this means investing further in technology and systems that make our customers’ lives easier. The budget didn’t deliver the boost to business growth many of us hoped for, but we’ve been manufacturing for over 30 years and have weathered stormier waters than this. The post-Covid comedown is real and market conditions remain unpredictable. What matters is preparation and we’re confident we’ve positioned ourselves for another strong year of trading. It’s easy to focus on the challenges but there are still plenty of opportunities ahead. Digital advancements across the board mean the industry is evolving, consumer tastes are shifting and those ready to adapt will continue to thrive. For us, 2026 isn’t something to fear – it’s something to attack with confidence.

Richard Sellman Managing Director, BFRC
Darren Woodcock General Manager, Deceuninck
Roger Hartshorn CEO, Sheerline
2025 has yet again been a turbulent year for the industry, not least because of a tightening economy, ever increasing labour costs, coupled with lower consumer spending, but also the continued impact of tightening legislation and in the fallout from the Grenfell Inquiry. These changes, although difficult to navigate for some, only serve to improve what we do and how we do things going forwards. Our industry’s continued ability to adapt and focus on efficiency, innovation and sustainability are what set us apart from any other.
After a sluggish autumn, hampered by pre-budget nerves, we’re optimistic that both the housing and housebuilding markets will gain momentum in the months ahead.
2025 – like every year – has had its ups and downs. Will the trend of consolidation continue into 2026? I feel sure there will be changes within some of the bigger companies associated with our industry into the new year, but whether this will continue at the same pace is yet to be seen.
As we look towards 2026, there’s no question that environmental focus will remain on carbon reduction in everything we do, and that of course will further impact on our industry as we move forward. As part of this, at BFRC, we’re undertaking onsite testing to evaluate the thermal performance of individual IGUs up to Whole Facades, by measuring on site, gas concentration levels, emissivity values and dew point, which as well as providing property owners with an understanding of their buildings performance, can support IGU manufacturers in understanding how their products perform in the field.
While November’s budget introduced tax and regulatory changes that could slow activity, we’re encouraged by the continuing downward trend in interest rates, which should help make mortgages more accessible. With tighter building regulations – including the Future Homes Standard – and increasing sustainability demands coming to the fore, we believe 2026 will highlight the importance of working with reliable partners who can help customers navigate compliance, stay competitive, and deliver products that meet both current and future energy requirements. In the commercial sector, our recent Deceuninck roundtable reinforced that price and lead times remain critical. Fabricators and installers who can balance compliance, cost, delivery and sustainability will be best placed to secure new opportunities. That’s why sourcing costeffective, eco-friendly and futureproof products through a trusted supply chain will be essential as we head into 2026.
At Sheerline we’re poised for the Future Homes Standard to be announced, but there’s still no word on when this will be. From our perspective, whilst we’re interested to know how the standard will change, what will arguably be more interesting is how the new standard will be policed, otherwise is it simply an update for the sake of it? We’re feeling positive about both our current and future position. We’ve stayed true to our original ethos of putting our customers first, delivering a first-class service coupled with a world-class OTIF, innovating across the board, and importantly, we continue to do what we say we’re going to do.
Sarah Dufton Associate Director, Koobr & Balls2 Marketing I’m leaving 2025 with total clarity that the glazing industry’s problem isn’t capability – it’s fatigue. Things felt stale not because people stopped caring, but because years of price pressures, political chaos and supply chain headaches have drained the spark from even the most committed businesses. That’s exactly why 2026 has to be different. This can’t be another year of waiting for confidence to return on its own. It has to be the year of doing – of acting with intent, rebuilding momentum and reminding ourselves what matters. Windows and doors transform how people live in their homes, but somewhere along the way, we diluted that belief in a race to the bottom. Marketing has shifted at a rate I’ve never experienced, and it’s pushed Koobr to stay true to its core values – being agile, intentional and focused on the things that make a real commercial difference. I think that’s the mindset the industry needs just as much: backing ourselves, acting with purpose and believing in the story we’re selling. My takeaway? Bring back the passion, the pride, and the pace, and we will truly turn the tide.
Asa McGillian Managing Director, SILKA For me, 2025 has made one thing crystal clear – the people and businesses in this industry that refuse to stand still are the ones succeeding. Installers who lead with real innovation, not commodity, are securing better margins and stronger customer commitment. We’re seeing the best results come from our most premium solutions: slimline SILKA aluminium with integral blinds that cut out snagging, and the continually evolving Kärben hybrid entrance door range with its Thermafill® engineered core, smart access, LED approach lighting and bonded ceramic finishes that sit miles apart from the mainstream. The appetite for better products has been a real driving force this year. In 2026, homeowners will expect connected security, smarter functionality and materials that hold their performance for the long term. They’re done with short-term fixes, and we cannot build a stronger sector by competing on price when the real opportunity sits in products that take homes to a higher standard altogether. Yes, politics and cost pressures will continue, but I’m backing innovation every time. Better engineering beats cheaper products – and that’s where the industry’s future lies.

Darren Bates Vice President of International Sales, Quanex Hardware Solutions 2025 has been a year of significant development for ERA, following our acquisition by Quanex and against the backdrop of an evolving market. Despite this period of change, our commitment to strengthening our support for customers across the UK remains at the centre. We’re continuing to make strides in our key focus areas, such as enhancing technical expertise to lay the foundations for the year ahead. In 2025, we welcomed new talent into the organisation, including a new Sales and Customer Service Director and celebrated the career development of many within our existing team, so we’re set to continue into 2026 stronger. Looking forward, we are excited about the opportunities 2026 will bring as we further expand our product portfolio and strengthen our collaboration within the wider Quanex group. As part of the Hardware Solutions division, ERA, alongside Zoo, Giesse and Reguitti, unites globally recognised brands to deliver enhanced value for our customers, unlock new possibilities for the future and reinforce the importance of strong partnerships with our trade customers.
Gorim Jones Director, Windowmaker Software
Iain McInnes Managing Director, We Build Brands
When budgets are being squeezed through higher taxes and by consumers reluctant to spend, the efficiency of businesses caught in the middle becomes increasingly important. Eliminating duplicated effort, improving data visibility, and streamlining operations can have a significant economic impact, helping businesses to protect margins.
We were lucky enough to work with some of the industry’s biggest and most influential brands again through 2025, so it was another busy year as they all remained proactive, investing in all aspects of their respective businesses. We also mirrored this positive approach by investing in We Build Brands in new software solutions and expanding the team to four full-timers.
With over 40 years of experience in the window and door industry, Windowmaker delivers software designed to respond quickly to changing requirements. In an unpredictable market, adaptability is not just advantageous; it underpins long-term resilience. We also understand that to deliver precisely what our customers need requires strong partnerships and direct links with other providers. We provide seamless integration with non-industry software companies such as Microsoft Dynamics, Zoho, HubSpot, and Salesforce, and offer solutions for all materials including PVCu, aluminium, steel and timber to deliver a highly effective and single cloud solution. As we move into 2026, Windowmaker remains committed to supporting customers with tailored, robust and integrated software solutions that enable scalable, efficient and profitable growth regardless of frame material.
www.glassnews.co.uk | January 2026
We Build Brands supports companies in all the fundamentals of marketing, including the positioning of their brand in the marketplace through a wide range of physical and online tactics. But we also go above and beyond with strategic support that helps customers navigate complex markets like those witnessed over the last couple of years. This can only be achieved with marketing expertise and industry knowledge, which our team has in abundance. We understand the principles of growth and what is required of the marketing function to help different companies achieve their targets. It’s this tailored approach that has helped our customers grow through 2025 and why we fully anticipate continued success this year.
Robert Thiroff Managing Director, profine UK / Kömmerling Politicians are certainly doing their best to make it more difficult for businesses to thrive, so we spent 2025 partnering with customers and working even harder to help them counter these challenging market conditions. This took the form of prioritising diversification and sustainability. Kömmerling invested where it matters in 2025 and plan more of the same in 2026. We have been investing in more revenue streams on behalf of customers, so on top of continuously improving our existing PVC-U, aluminium and hybrid window and door profiles, we also added a wider range of Building Products to our portfolio. Consumers will continue to place more emphasis on energy efficiency and sustainability in 2026, especially in light of everfluctuating fuel bills. Our customers are already prepared for this demand thanks to our exemplary closed-loop recycling scheme which saves energy, reduces CO2 emissions, and cuts waste, as well as the high standards of energy efficiency we employ across our vast window and door range. We are committed to continuing to support customers with the products they need today and tomorrow.
Mark Hickox Sales Director, Thermoseal Group
Russell Yates Managing Director, AluK
2025 was another year of strong progress for Thermoseal Group. Winning Component Supplier of the Year for the second time running was a proud moment for the whole team and a reflection of the investments we’ve made in technical capabilities and in-house manufacturing.
The window and door market is certainly not for the fainthearted, and 2026 looks like it could be just as challenging as 2025. We are still likely to face a lack of consumer confidence and subdued demand in the retail market and legislative tangles and delays could continue to stifle progress in the commercial sector.
Those investments now allow us to manufacture over three-quarters of our portfolio internally, giving customers greater stability, quality and responsiveness – exactly what the market needs in uncertain economic conditions. Looking ahead to 2026, we’re entering a major new phase. The completion of our Amber One hot melt facility will treble our manufacturing capacity, and export growth will be a key focus too. With our warm edge solutions gaining traction in the USA and our parent company Fenzi opening doors into Europe, we’re positioned to expand further into global markets. My outlook for 2026 is confident: the pressures are real, but so is the opportunity. With continued innovation and increased capacity, we’re ready to support customers wherever the year takes us.
But there is still plenty of room for optimism, if like AluK, you’ve got the right product offering and the resources to be able to withstand the tough market conditions. AluK’s portfolio has been completely reshaped over the last couple of years so that we now have the products right across our range that fabricators need to win strong margin business. That’s everything from our Heritage door and suited window system to our brand new IconiK bifold and the newly crowned G-25 Product of the Year - our S67 inline slider. We’ll be launching even more new products in 2026 and of course backing up that innovation with an outstanding package of customer service.

David Cahill Managing Director, Flat Glass Solutions
Justin Harris Managing Director, Winkhaus
Ian Griffiths Managing Director, Shepley Windows
Chris Kemp Sales Director, Inagas Ltd.
Jonny Green, Principal Product Manager, Framexpress
Large-scale capital expenditure is a long game, and thankfully less swayed by the reactionary mood around budget announcements. That doesn’t mean we’ll rest on our laurels – quite the opposite. With new glass-processing technologies emerging, particularly from China, now is the time to explore opportunities to automate factories, boost efficiency and achieve the consistent quality that lets you sleep at night.
Market conditions throughout 2025 remained challenging across residential and commercial construction, with rising operational costs, regulatory delays and funding constraints continuing to suppress activity. Despite this, progress was made through sustained investment in innovation, strong industry engagement and national recognition, demonstrating the value of maintaining focus during difficult trading conditions.
If 2025 taught the industry a single lesson, it’s that price matters far less than a fabricator’s ability to deliver – on time and without excuses. Installers have had enough of suppliers who talk a good game, but create chaos on site. Where every hour of labour exposed weak links, the fabricators who kept projects moving were the only ones installers trusted, and that pressure is even sharper as we enter 2026.
If you had asked most people this time last year what 2025 would look like, confidence wouldn’t have been high. With rising costs and a flat market, any growth felt significant. Against that backdrop, we’re pleased to say we’ve exceeded our own expectations.
After 25 years working with machinery suppliers in China and Europe, I know we’re only scratching the surface of what’s possible in the UK. China especially has risen in professionalism, impressing us so much that we opened an office there to access techologies not yet available here.
Looking ahead to 2026, expectations remain cautious but increasingly optimistic. Early signs of renewed activity are emerging across residential and commercial pipelines, including high-rise aluminium projects where hybrid Tilt and Turn solutions are gaining traction. Product development remains central, with the forthcoming Crafted Synergy entrance door range and Polaris Smart Turner designed to meet evolving performance, security and cyber requirements.
The uncomfortable reality is that a single missed delivery or manufacturing error now costs an installer more than any price increase ever will. Absolute dependability has become the divider between businesses that grow, and businesses that scramble. That’s why Shepley puts so much energy into tightening delivery performance, strengthening processes and backing practical training. These aren’t “nice to haves” – they’re the basics of doing the job properly.
In 2025 we saw rising pressures being placed on manufacturers to assess gas filling processes in order to ensure they are meeting the required gas concentration standards. As a result, we saw significant growth in the sales of Sparklike gas measuring equipment across the market, whether it be to measure in house production or out in the field. I spend lots of my time out meeting manufacturers on a daily basis and the need to not only be compliant, but prove that compliance on a daily basis is becoming more apparent.
Significant investment in fire testing and digital capability has further strengthened compliance and customer support. As 2026 approaches, the priority is clear: sustainable, compliant growth built on evidence, preparation and close market partnership.
I think we will see the market become even more selective this year. Installers will choose partners who reduce friction, communicate clearly and remove uncertainty from their day. Those who can’t offer that level of discipline will fall behind, fast.
My global factory visits show how large-scale methodologies can translate into major UK competitive advantage. This year, I want the glazing industry to invite me in and share their production-line challenges. With world-class machinery and UK-based engineering, we can save thousands in IGU and glass processing. So, as they say in my native Oz, ‘boil the billy up’ – every good conversation starts with tea.
38
Across Europe and to the USA, our export sales slowed in 2025, which we feel will continue into 2026, especially as the introduction of Trump’s tariffs will make export into the US even more difficult. We hope that as the spotlight continues to shine on gas concentration here in the UK, this will impact positively on gas filling and measuring equipment.
Growth has not come easily, but it has been real. Aluminium has been a major driver, with our Ali by Framexpress range reaching over £1 million in sales in its first full year. That tells us installers are still willing to invest when the product is right and the service stacks up. uPVC and composite doors have remained strong across all areas, and the new build market has been more resilient than many of us expected. Trade has been tougher, particularly in a market where people are understandably reluctant to change suppliers. For us, the difference has been focusing on the fundamentals – delivering On Time and In Full and providing higher spec as standard products. Looking ahead to 2026, it will not be an easier market. But with continued investment in machinery, technology and people, we still expect to grow by doing the basics well, consistently.

Many of its team members are themselves tenants of social housing, giving the organisation a unique empathy for the end user. “We put ourselves in the tenant’s position,” says Howard. “If you make a fire door, you know people must be safe behind it. If you make a front door, it should be easy to operate for everyone, regardless of age or ability.”
its standard specification for composite doors. “For us, it is about integrity and doing the right thing,” Howard continues. “If there is a product that performs better, lasts longer, and makes life easier for our tenants, why wouldn’t we use it?”
LOW FORCE, HIGH IMPACT The AV4’s defining advantage is its exceptionally low operating force. Unlike many multipoint locking systems that can require considerable effort to engage or release, the AV4’s design allows users to open doors smoothly and easily. This seemingly small feature has a big impact across Birmingham’s diverse housing stock. “Many of our tenants are older people or have disabilities,” Howard explains. “If you have arthritis or limited strength, turning a key or even pushing down a stiff handle can be difficult. The AV4 lets you open the door with a much smaller amount of force, and that makes an enormous difference to daily life.” This user-friendly performance reflects Shelforce’s broader mission of innovation through diversity, not just among people but in the products they choose. Every element of a door is assessed for how it performs across the full demographic, ensuring accessibility and independence for all residents.
BUILT TO LAST, DESIGNED TO REDUCE CALLBACKS
That philosophy underpins Shelforce’s decision to make the Winkhaus autoLock AV4
Ease of operation is only one part of the equation. The AV4’s robust engineering also delivers significant lifecycle advantages for housing providers. With doors facing heavy daily use from mobility scooters, prams, and environmental exposure, reliability is crucial.
“If there is a product that performs better, lasts longer, and makes life easier for our tenants, why wouldn’t we use it?”
“Doors take a lot of abuse,” says Howard. “You have got warm, humid interiors, cold exteriors, and constant changes in temperature. The AV4 is more forgiving, it tolerates movement, knocks, and installation variances much better than most. That means fewer problems down the line.”
HIGH PERFORMANCE AS STANDARD

that is a saving straight away. The cheapest product is not the cheapest if you have to keep maintaining it.”
“It is about lifecycle value,” Howard explains. “If you do not have to go back to fix or adjust,

improving its housing stock and aims to ensure that every decision, represents a wise investment in quality, safety, and longevity. For Howard, that starts with specifying the best available products, not simply the lowestcost options. “We are not in a race to the bottom,” he says. “Our goal is to fit it and forget it. A door that works first time and keeps working for years builds trust, and that is vital in social housing today.”
A DOOR THAT REFLECTS SHELFORCE’S VALUES From its roots supporting visually impaired workers in the 19th century to its recent King’s Award for Enterprise, Shelforce has always balanced social purpose with commercial excellence. Its adoption of the autoLock AV4 is another step in that tradition, choosing innovation that improves lives, cuts costs, and upholds the ethical standards that define the organisation. “It is simple,” concludes Howard. “If you do the right thing, for the tenant, for the installer, for the council, the results speak for themselves.”

DHF URGES CAUTION: POWERED GARAGE DOORS ARE NOT AN ‘OFF THE SHELF’ PRODUCT
KENRICK LAUNCHES AK SECURECORE™ HIGH-SECURITY CYLINDER Longstanding hardware supplier Kenrick has announced the launch of its new AK SecureCore™ 3 Star highsecurity cylinder, developed to deliver exceptional protection against today’s most sophisticated break-in methods. With more than two centuries of hardware innovation behind it, Kenrick continues to build on its reputation for reliable, UK-designed products that meet the evolving security needs of fabricators and installers across the industry. AK SecureCore™ has achieved the Sold Secure Diamond Standard 2024, the most demanding cylinder certification available and carries the Kitemark 3 Star rating. It has been designed to resist every major form of attack, including picking, bumping, drilling, snapping, gluing and freezing. Featuring 11 pins and more than 800,000 key combinations alongside patented ALPS anti-manipulation technology, it offers a level of resilience far beyond that of conventional cylinders. Its reinforced anti-snap design and excessdischarge vents further enhance its defence against destructive or substance-based attacks, ensuring dependable performance in the most challenging conditions. Andy Meakin, Sales and Marketing Manager at Kenrick, said: “AK SecureCore™ represents a significant step in our commitment to delivering reliable, high-performance security hardware solutions. The response from early users has been extremely positive and we believe AK SecureCore™ will quickly establish itself as a go-to cylinder for fabricators, installers and locksmiths who value security, ease of installation and long-term reliability.”
Homeowners who choose AK SecureCore™ can also activate the £5,000 security guarantee by registering their lock, demonstrating the confidence the company places in its testing processes and product durability. AK SecureCore™ has undergone rigorous assessment both in specialist laboratories and through hands-on locksmith evaluation to ensure it performs consistently across all scenarios. Importantly, AK SecureCore™ integrates seamlessly with Kenrick’s AK Touch Secure™ smart door lock, allowing homeowners to combine advanced mechanical strength with the latest connected technology. Andy commented: The AK Touch Secure™, which has achieved Secured by Design accreditation and IASME IoT Cyber Assurance Level Two, can be fitted to any door handle equipped with a Kenrick 3 Star cylinder, making AK SecureCore™ the ideal pairing for installers wanting to offer both physical and digital security in a single package.”
The Door & Hardware Federation (DHF) is urging homeowners and installers to recognise that powered domestic garage doors should never be treated as simple ‘off the shelf ’ products. Rather, they require careful assessment, correct documentation and appropriate safety measures tailored to each installation. DHF’s Senior Training & Compliance Officer, Steve Hill, has raised concerns that too many powered garage doors are being sold and installed without the detailed discussions needed to ensure they are legally compliant and safe for longterm use. “Many companies present powered garage doors as an ‘off the shelf ’ product,”
he says. “The customer chooses a colour, the installer measures the opening and the door is fitted. But this approach overlooks the essential steps needed to ensure that the door is both safe and compliant. A more detailed conversation is required between the customer and their chosen supplier.” As a minimum, manufacturers must meet all legal requirements before placing a powered garage door on the market. This includes compliance with the Construction Products Regulations 2013 (CPR) using the relevant standard EN 13241:2003+A2:2016. “To comply, manufacturers must test their doors with an approved testing body, demonstrate
He added: “Kenrick has always stood for quality, dependability and practical hardware innovation and AK SecureCore™ builds on that foundation and gives our customers a cylinder they can trust. Whether used as a standalone high-security solution or as part of a fully connected smart locking system, it has been developed to deliver outstanding protection and complete peace of mind.”
performance against all essential requirements, and provide a Declaration of Performance,” continues Steve. “A CE or UKCA conformity label must also be applied. In addition, they must meet the legal minimum safety standard under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 and support this with a Declaration of Conformity.” Only once these steps are taken can a powered garage door be legally sold. However, legal compliance alone does not guarantee that the door is suitable or safe for the customer’s home environment. “To ensure a garage door is safe for the location in which it is installed, far more information is needed,” he says. “How the client wants to operate the door, whether the door opens onto a public highway, and what extra safety features may be required all need to be considered from the outset.” DHF continues to encourage manufacturers, installers and homeowners to follow best practice and ensure all powered garage doors are supplied and installed with safety upfront-and-centre.

INSTALLER SUPPORT
The UK’s Leading Glass & Glazing Newspaper
40 YEARS OF SUPPORTING INSTALLERS THROUGH CHANGING EXPECTATIONS In 2026, VEKA marks 40 years of manufacturing PVCu window and door systems in the UK. Over four decades, the market has evolved significantly, and so too have homeowner expectations. Recent research shows satisfaction with existing windows and doors has fallen from 23% to 11%*, highlighting growing concerns around weather resistance, thermal performance, condensation, noise and long-term maintenance. For installers, these findings reflect challenges already familiar on site. Homeowners are no longer focused solely on replacement; they are increasingly looking for solutions that address comfort, performance and reliability over time. As a result, the way installers present systems, specifications and supporting information has become more important than ever.
MOVING THE CONVERSATION BEYOND PRICE Quoting remains a critical moment in the customer journey. Installers report that homeowners are increasingly receptive to discussions around performance and suitability, particularly when supported by clear, factual information. Referencing certified test data can help demonstrate how systems are assessed for weather resistance, security and thermal performance. For example, lower U-values indicate improved thermal efficiency when compared with higher-value alternatives. A system such as VEKA’s OMNIA, tested to achieve a U-value of 0.75 W/m²K, provides a practical illustration of how specification choices can influence overall performance when compared with average market values. An award-winning** system like VEKA’s OMNIA allows installers to explain
"As VEKA marks its 40th anniversary in the UK, the focus remains the same: supporting installers with reliable systems and practical tools that reflect real on-site needs. In a market shaped by changing homeowner expectations, longterm partnerships and clear communication continue to matter." 44
performance characteristics transparently, helping homeowners understand differences between products without relying on headline claims.
SUPPORTING INSTALLERS BEYOND INSTALLATION Follow-up communication also plays an increasingly important role. Visual tools such as renders, short explainer videos and technical data sheets can help homeowners visualise the finished result and reinforce discussions around performance, care and longevity. As VEKA has developed its installer support offering over the years, tools such as VEKA Edge have been designed to support this stage of the process, providing installers with access to homeowner-friendly content, care guidance and marketing materials that can be shared before and after installation.
BUILT ON STANDARDS, BACKED BY PARTNERSHIP For many homeowners, reassurance comes from recognised standards and consistent installation practices. Installers working with VEKA systems can reference independently tested performance, relevant certifications and structured care guidance as part of their conversations. This approach reflects VEKA’s long-standing focus on partnership. Over 40 years, feedback from fabricators and installers has shaped system design, ancillary simplification and the development of support programmes such as the VEKA Installer Programme and Independent Network. VEKA installers have access to readyto-use documents, technical sheets, and homeowner-friendly guides to include in quotes designed to help installers win job.
LOOKING AHEAD As VEKA marks its 40th anniversary in the UK, the focus remains the same: supporting installers with reliable systems and practical tools that reflect real on-site needs. In a market shaped by changing homeowner expectations, long-term partnerships and clear communication continue to matter. AWARDS FDM BY UAP LTD NAMED TRAINING COMPANY OF THE YEAR FOR SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR Fire Door Maintenance (FDM) by UAP Ltd has once again been named Training Company of the Year at the 2025 National Fenestration Awards, recognising its continued leadership in raising competence and accountability across the fire door industry. This consecutive win marks another milestone for FDM, which has redefined fire door training since launching in 2024 as the UK’s first hands-on, practical training centre dedicated solely to fire door education. Over the past 18 months, more than 1,200 professionals - from architects and installers to Responsible Persons and landlords - have completed FDM’s GQA-accredited courses. Each programme combines practical experience with rigorous assessment to embed life-saving competence at every stage of the fire door lifecycle. In 2025, FDM also hosted a national industry roundtable on fire door competence, joined by leading figures including Dame Judith Hackitt, whose endorsement recognised FDM as “an exemplar of good practice” in the built environment. Insights from this event directly informed FDM’s report, Raising Standards in the Fire Door Industry, shaping its roadmap for continued impact across the sector. Looking ahead, FDM is expanding its national footprint. In partnership with the Fire Protection Association (FPA), it will open a second state-of-the-art training centre in Oxford in January 2026, further strengthening the availability of specialist fire safety education across the UK. Nicola John, Managing Director at FDM by UAP Ltd, said: “To be named Training Company of the Year for the second year running is an incredible honour, and a reflection of how far the industry has come in recognising the value of competence and practical training. Our mission has always been to drive change through education, and we’re proud to be leading that shift. But this is only the beginning. We’re committed to building a safer, more competent future, one fire door, one learner, and one project at a time.”

The G25 win follows FDM’s consecutive Training Company of the Year title at the 2025 National Fenestration Awards and a London Construction Awards win earlier this year. Together, these three awards reflect recognition from across the built environment - glazing, fenestration and construction - and underline the difference FDM is making industry-wide. Launched in 2024 as the UK’s first hands-on training academy dedicated solely to fire doors, FDM has trained more than 1,200 professionals in 18 months and holds GQA accreditation and CITB approval. FDM’s influence extends beyond the classroom. In 2025 it convened a national roundtable on fire door competence chaired by Dame Judith Hackitt, who described FDM as “an exemplar of good practice.” Insights from the event shaped FDM’s report, Raising Standards in the Fire Door Industry, adding weight to calls for practical competence at every stage of the fire door lifecycle. Nicola John, Managing Director at FDM by UAP Ltd, said: “This award recognises what matters most- practical competence that keeps people safe. Our approach is handson, rigorous and inclusive of every role in the golden thread, from procurement and installation to inspection and maintenance. The fact that glazing, fenestration and construction audiences have all recognised FDM this year shows the industry is moving decisively towards real-world training and measurable standards. We’ll keep pushing forward with partners to build a safer, more competent built environment.” Looking ahead, FDM is expanding its national footprint with a second training academy planned in partnership with the Fire Protection Association in early 2026, alongside further vocational qualifications to meet evolving industry needs.

GLASS COMPANY OF THE YEAR PLACES A MARKER OF AMBITION FOR ECOGLASS With a 75-year family legacy, Norwich-based IGU manufacturer Ecoglass firmly placed itself in the spotlight at November’s G Awards. Shortlisted across three categories, the company was awarded Glass Company of the Year, a recognition that reflects both its heritage and its future direction.
“This award is a testament to the dedication, talent and resilience shown every day across the business. Looking ahead to 2026, we have clear ambitions for our people, our products and our customers, from launching new solutions to investing in technical training and continuing to strengthen customer service.”
Throughout 2025, Ecoglass focused on putting people at the heart of its communications. From personal success stories to demonstrating how the team consistently goes the extra mile, the business chose to lead with sustainability, social value and service, rather than products alone.
including its ongoing commitment to Rippleacts, a Norwich-based social enterprise supporting individuals facing long-term unemployment. In October, members of the Ecoglass team took part in Rippleacts’ Employers’ Brunch, contributing to open discussions around confidence, employability and access to opportunity. Further support and guidance are planned for 2026.
“Our people make us,” says Mark High, Company Director. “It was important to take the time to celebrate individual stories and shared wins, and to be open about the work we do to support our people, our customers and our local community. This award honours that legacy, but for me it’s also a marker of what’s to come.” Mark joined Ecoglass in April 2024 and has since played a key role in refining the

Allan Price
ALLAN PRICE RETIRES Hardware specialist VBH has announced that Allan Price, the company’s General Manager for Scotland & Northern Ireland, has decided to take retirement in December. Allan joined VBH in January 1989, with responsibility for customers in the West of Scotland and in Northern Ireland. His dry wit and straight-talking style soon endeared him to his new customers, and as time progressed, he built up an impressive technical knowledge surrounding windows and doors and, of course, the hardware required to open, close, and lock them. With tilt and turn windows so popular in Scotland, Allan quickly became one of VBH’s TBT hardware specialists, particularly on the Roto and, more recently, AGB brands. In addition to his sales duties, Allan also manages the activities at VBH’s depot in East Kilbride, where he has assembled over the years what VBH describes as a top team of people who provide excellent service to East Kilbride’s customers. Allan hands over the role of General Manager – Scotland & Northern Ireland to Pamela Paterson, who is also a VBH longserver with 24 years’ service to her name.
George Stirling has joined the company in the new position of External Technical Sales Engineer, with responsibility for on-site technical support for VBH customers in both Scotland and the northern counties of England. With 33 years industry experience, George is no stranger to hardware and the technicalities of windows and doors. Previous roles have included both PVCu and aluminium fabrication, remedial/ service engineer, hardware and profile purchasing, and a stint at the sharp end as a door and window salesperson. During his time as a factory manager, George dealt with VBH as they were a major hardware supplier to his company. He says, “Having done business with VBH for a number of years I am aware that the company is well respected within the industry. The products that I used were of excellent quality and the service that we received was second to none. These factors made the decision to join VBH an easy one.” Rob Norman, Technical Director of VBH adds, “We knew George from his time as a customer, so when we decided to create this new technical position in Scotland, his name was at the top of our list. “His role is to support our customers with product demonstrations, help with test sample preparation and offer general support as required. His technical knowledge, versatility and easy-going personality make him ideal for that job, and we also know that he will slot straight in with the rest of the VBH team.” George lives in Scotland’s central belt, so is ideally placed to reach VBH’s customers who deal with the company’s East Kilbride distribution site.
Victoria Woods, who joined VBH in 2024 in the position of Regional Sales Manager as part of Allan’s succession plan, takes over the main sales activities in Scotland.

COLD CALLING
The UK’s Leading Glass & Glazing Newspaper
DANNY WILLIAMS
‘COLD CALLING’ Well, here we are again. Another year in the wonderful, whimsical, occasionally stress-inducing world of windows, doors and trying not to strangle our suppliers. Twelve months ago we were all muttering things like “consumer confidence is wobbling,” “energy prices are criminal,” and “who on earth signed off Document O?” while casually crying into our halffinished quotations. 2025 has been… character-building. If you’ve survived it, congratulations — you’re officially made of sterner stuff than most kitchen-fitters and half the Cabinet combined.
WE’VE ENDURED:
doesn’t have to feel like squeezing blood from a UPVC stone. The bottom line might not have set the pulse racing but neither did we reach for the Valium.
SO, WHAT ABOUT 2026? OK, buckle up then. 1. Demand won’t fall off a cliff — but it will shift. Fewer “rip it all out” projects, more curated upgrades: a door here, a bay window there, maybe a couple of triples to stop the neighbour’s teenage drummer. Average order values look set to nudge upwards, because energy bills still sting and homeowners still love anything labelled “high performance.” 2. The skills shortage
“As a nation we LOVE to spend money on our homes and I predict that the purse strings will be loosened a little this year.” ‘see’ their new windows on their iPads before you’ve even parked the van. 6. The big positive? Consumers still trust local installers. Perhaps especially now the Big Brands have cocked it up, homeowners will gravitate more than ever toward the independent who turns up on time, drinks their tea, and does a tidy job. The small-to-medium installer is the backbone of this industry and will remain so. You lovely lot are annoyingly resilient but whilst we value you more than ever, don’t go all Mo Salah on us, please.
• A market that couldn’t decide whether to sulk or rally. One week homeowners were tightening belts, the next they were deciding that now was absolutely the time to replace all their windows with anthracite grey flush casements because their neighbour just had some fitted (November and December were CRAZY! Why wait all year…?)
It’ll get worse. Fitters who can remove and fit a window or door will be worth their weight in salt but fortunately there aren’t too many window replacements in Dubai just yet so hopefully we won’t be losing too many to the Emirates for tax avoidance.
• Endless regulation roulette. And on and on and on it goes…Document O, trickle-vents, fire doors, recyclability, embodied carbon, and enough acronyms to fill a Scrabble bag.
Between fire-safety tweaks, environmental reporting, digital compliance demands and whisperings of new acoustic standards, installers will be amassing enough paperwork to resurface the M1.
This government has shown an enormous ability to divide people into two classes: those on benefits and those who work for a living. And the homeowners amongst the latter may emerge from their financial bunkers as they become more resilient to the constant threat of increased taxation and threats to their jobs. As a nation we LOVE to spend money on our homes and I predict that the purse strings will be loosened a little this year.
• Supplier drama. Lead times that shrank! Then stretched! Then shrank again! The emotional journey of a bungee rope.
4. PVC-U and aluminium manufacturers will duke it out for the high ground.
SO, WHAT’S THE MOOD FOR 2026?
• Price creep. Every time you thought you’d nailed your margins, someone in Europe put a surcharge on aluminium, or a container from China took a leisurely six-week detour via Singapore or Somalian pirates decided to hijack its sister ship... But above all… A government that is striving for a Benefitsdriven economy and which simply does not understand the basics of how industry works. With everything that market forces have thrown at us, we have a government that sets bear-traps at every turn. But let’s not dwell. We made it. And there were bright spots — with soaring energy prices homeowners valued energy efficiency more than ever, composite doors kept flying, foils got snazzier, and installers discovered that selling premium
3. Regulation will continue its hobby of ruining everyone’s weekends.
Both sides are promising faster lead times, greener credentials, and flashier websites. In the meantime, installers will continue to choose whichever one answers the phone first and charges the least. 5. Technology will get slicker AY-AYE will be prevalent in everything we do…and most of us will struggle to get the best out of it. AI-generated quotes, AR door-designers, scheduling apps that nag you more than your accountant — and yes, more homeowners will want to
“With everything that market forces have thrown at us, we have a government that sets bear-traps at every turn..”
7. Homeowners will begin to emerge from their bunkers…
Cautious optimism, sprinkled with the usual glazingindustry chaos. There’ll be opportunities — plenty — for those who embrace efficiency, differentiate products, keep their teams happy, and don’t treat compliance like Voldemort (‘He Who Must Not Be Read’). Retailers who go niche, go premium, or go service-led will do well. And if all else fails, we’ll still have bi-folds, anthracite grey, and the one customer every year who insists on gold furniture ‘because it matches the dog.’ See you out there — keep the kettle hot, the quotes sharp, and the humour dry. It’s the glazing industry… if we didn’t laugh, we’d cry. Let’s be careful out there…
* Danny Williams is managing director of Chelmsford based Pioneer Trading and has been involved with all aspects of the windows and doors industry for 30 years. His activities include manufacturing a full range of windows and doors in PVC-U and aluminium, an IGU facility, retailing and commercial contracting.
