Out theme for the Love Issue is “Will You Accept This Rose” and while it is a known phrase from The Bachelor, in my mind, it is also a phrase of possibilities and seeing the beauty in every day.
Will you see today as a positive? Will you accept the doors that are opening for you? Will you see beauty blooming all around you?
It’s how we look at things every day that makes our day a good one or not. It’s a choice we make to see things in a positive light. We all go through hard times, but it’s how we handle them and see them that determines our outlook on life.
As we begin a new year (our Gladys 18th Anniversary this month) we are inspired by those who bring flowers to others and those who embrace beauty and life.
Our Cover Girl Carly is an example of someone who has learned to create goodness and positivity into her life even through many struggles. Carly Brigaman never gave up on her dream of becoming a National pageant titleholder and this past year she did just that! Carly became the new Mrs. Captivating and a 3-peat Gladys Cover Girl!
It’s all about self-confidence, self-belief and perseverance to become successful! And, if you follow Carly’s journey you’ll see how much she volunteers and gives to so many others. Perched atop the famed Spanish Steps on Via Rodeo’s cobblestone street, 208 Rodeo Restaurant is one of Beverly Hills’ most beloved dining destinations. Its story begins in 1991, when the space—then called Piazza Rodeo—opened as a charming sandwich spot created by visionary entrepreneur Meshulam Riklis, a billionaire ahead of his time. Mr. Riklis had an office across the street and wanted a place to eat lunch at close by and decided to open a sandwich shop that utilized small challah breads. He soon found out that you weren’t able to pay the rent on Rodeo Drive by selling sandwiches and a full service restaurant evolved.
My husband, Michael, worked with Riklis for nearly three decades, and about twenty years ago, we assumed stewardship of the restaurant. With that transition came a new chapter and a new name: 208 Rodeo, inspired by our address and designed to reflect the broader California-style menu, rather than the Italian impression the former name suggested.
Today, 208 Rodeo continues to thrive atop one of the most photographed and iconic corners of Beverly Hills. Guests can enjoy a small but cozy indoor dining room, a beautiful al fresco dining with two distinct outdoor spaces: a terrace overlooking the historic Beverly Wilshire Boulevard, and a patio tucked beside Tiffany & Co., offering a front-row seat to all the vibrancy of Two Rodeo.

Melissa Pellone is an American fashion designer and the creative force behind PELLONE Collection, a Los Angeles–based fashion brand celebrated for its feminine silhouettes, modern elegance, and finely crafted special-occasion dresses and ready-to-wear pieces. A native of New York, Melissa discovered her passion for design early in life, attending Parsons The New School for Design and later earning her degree from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles.
Melissa began her career designing for major corporate apparel brands before launching her own label. Her breakthrough came when she attended LA Fashion Week wearing a piece she had designed; industry producers were so impressed that they invited her to showcase a full collection the very next season. Since then, she has shown at fashion weeks 19 times, most recently debuting at Paris Fashion Week Her designs have been worn by celebrities on red carpets such as the Emmys and CMT Awards, with coverage in publications like Women’s Wear Daily and Harper’s Bazaar.
Melissa’s aesthetic blends chic New York sensibilities with California glamour, creating pieces that are both striking and wearable. She personally oversees the design and production process, sourcing high-quality materials and ensuring that her collections reflect a commitment to craftsmanship. TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF? I am an LA based official fashion week designer with my custom pieces and brand collection made locally here in Los Angeles
WHEN AND HOW DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU WANTED TO BE A FASHION DESIGNER? From a young age, I always knew I wanted to be a fashion designer. Fashion has always spoken to me as a powerful form of self-expression—one that let me tell my story long before I had the words. Designing felt natural, like something I was meant to do. That early spark never left, and it continues to shape the way I create today.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR PARIS FASHION WEEK COLLECTION?
My Paris Fashion Week debuted in the historic room of the Shangri-La Hotel. This showcase was deeply special—years in the making and filled with emotion, dedication, and quiet determination. The collection carried an elegant, sultry, and sophisticated allure, illuminated by opulent jewel tones and radiant metallics of gold and silver. It was a debut that reflected the heart of my vision: luxurious, evocative, and profoundly meaningful. Each piece was curated to cover all the aspects of the brand and highlight the beautiful craftsmanship we use in making each piece. We opened with a modern wedding gown and veil, which each flower was hand cut out and hand placed and sewn on by me. The presentation then moved through rich beautiful colors, a full range of silhouettes with stylistic details and closed with a finale sequin gown in white and silver sequins.

Preparing for a show takes months of meticulous planning. Every detail, even the models’ walk, is part of the story I am telling. I envision the show as a complete experience, carefully crafted to convey exactly what I want to express in that moment.

Having earned her Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas Tech University in marketing and fashion design and hired on to the biggest account at The Richards Group Advertising Agency as an account executive, Tammy has acquired a comprehensive educational and practical background in the entertainment, fashion, marketing and advertising industries.
As a successful model and actor, Tammy has proven she is equally beautiful, smart and driven as a successful fashion entrepreneur operating in the swimwear fashion industry. She has always worked in the fashion sector having modeled for top brands and media outlets like Maxim Magazine. She has also done professional acting in Los Angeles as well as improv across major cities throughout Texas. In fact, she is known for landing a principal acting role on CBS’s Young and the Restless soap opera– she played the flashback scenes for Patty Williams. Other acting credits include leading roles in film, TV and commercials. Tammy eventually went on to write, produce and star as the lead in a screenplay she developed for a TV sitcom, which ultimately garnered praise and buzz from Paramount Studios’ first female film studio executive, Sherry Lansing.
In response to the global pandemic in early 2020, Tammy put acting and modeling aside and pursued her dream of starting her own fashion line– After conceptualizing and designing the GoldBarr™ brand and its first swimsuit collection for women, she launched an iconic and sexy luxury swimwear line in late 2020. The response within months from top celebrities, public figures and social media influencers was praised by the likes of Maria Sharapova, Isabel Grutman and Paris Hilton.
Tammy patented the closure on the Original GoldBarr™ bikini and obtained the trademark in the state of California, with its U.S. trademark pending while in review.
As a member of the Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce, Tammy has diligently worked hard to build a successful career in the entertainment and fashion industries over the past decade. Last year, she trademarked and established Beverly Hills Fashion Week and this year firmly positioned it on the global fashion map with the city of Beverly Hills and mayor cutting the ribbon officially announcing BHFW as an annual event.
Over the last six months, GoldBarr™ has expanded beyond e-commerce luxury fashion and offers many of its popular luxury swim and resort wear fashion looks in a popular women’s fashion boutique– Portofino of Beverly Hills. This boutique shop is where Paris Hilton originally discovered GoldBarr’s iconic Gold Rush swimwear collection and ultimately received three GoldBarr™ bikinis and two cover ups, which she went on to wear in the Bahamas for her birthday. TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOU? I am a total nerd. People often confuse my insides with my outsides. Some may see me as a stereotype and assume blonde girl = dumb or stuck up, party girl, etc. I love all things tech, AI, and reading about new inventions. As far as my values, I am deeply traditional but unconventional in my approach as a mom. I love being a mom to my beautiful son. You know, Jeff Buckley said something to his mom that I just loved in a recent documentary I watched. It brought me to tears. He said something to the effect of, Anyone can be famous, but it takes a special spirit to raise a child. And that’s my heart. I love raising my son and watching him become his own person. He is the apple of my eye. I am all about God first and my family. I actually love the idea of creating something from nothing. The miracle is real, whether it is being a mom and growing a baby in your womb, or creating music or fashion. I love this concept so much. We all have that magic in us if we tap into it. I love life, my friends, and people in general. I enjoy people-watching and learning from human interactions, and I strongly believe in the goodness of humanity. I aim to give back through my art and inspire future generations. Children truly are our future. So they must be nurtured and protected. I am a mom, sister, lover, fashion designer, and singer, and this is where I shine. The dynamic between these roles is what keeps me going! I love how they complete each other.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO DESIGN? I am inspired by my son, his innocence, and his fresh eyes. He sees the world in a new way. So many new colors and such freshness in the world. The way he sees people, the way he speaks to me and about others, and his new way of thinking. He is a new color crayon, and I love his mind. It inspires me. Being a mom inspires me. We are raising each other, and that inspires me. A genuine love he is.
WHAT IS A NIKKI LUND FASHION MUST-HAVE? A Nikki Lund fashion must-have is a personal choice. We all have our own personal must-haves. For me, it is definitely the oversized hoodie. This is a must-have in everybody’s wardrobe.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT BEING A MUSICIAN?
I love that music allows for unique creative self-expression. It’s a relationship in and of itself. A sexy, elusive butterfly. It’s freedom. It’s your own fingerprint, unreplicable. It is like a life partner at times. It gives you that comforting, loving space to be you, a place in the world that no one can take away or give you. HOW DO YOU BALANCE BOTH CAREERS? To balance anything in life, you need to prioritize and compartmentalize. These two careers go hand in hand for me and work seamlessly in many ways. The music is like a soulmate to fashion—symbiotic. It makes it easy to explore and grow when I draw on both talents. It helps me create and stay motivated to switch between the two worlds of creativity. I never get bored.
HOW’S A DAY IN YOUR LIFE? BUSY! It starts with getting my son fed and to school. Well, first, I always pray. Ask for health, strength, and a prosperous day. And then I get all my calls out of the way. I have orders that I need to oversee getting out. I have to make sure all my clients who need custom clothes are getting shipped on time. I have a studio session booked at least twice a week to work on new tunes, but really… No day is the same.
WHAT’S YOUR MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT ABOUT YOUR FASHION SHOWS? My most unforgettable moment at a fashion show was performing alongside Angelo, the lead singer of Fishbone. He’s a talented musician and a true legend. He attended my fashion show at the Pacific Design Center and performed a few songs with me. The event was wall-to-wall packed, and one of my favorite actors, Mickey Rourke, was there as well. It was incredible.
WHAT ARE YOUR UPCOMING PROJECTS? I’m excited to share that I’ll be going on-air at QVC in early 2026, which feels like a dream come true. I will be on ABC 4 every week with my own lifestyle segment, which is a lot of fun, and I adore the team there. I’m also working on a big fashion event in Nashville in April 2026. Involving two well-known legends, I’m collaborating with them on this show idea, so I hope everything goes as planned. Currently, I’m working on a new fashion season that is truly stunning, and I can’t wait to share some of my latest designs with the world. I’m reconnecting with my roots by incorporating statement jackets and band jackets, revisiting my very first designs and sources of inspiration. My luxury loungewear line is also relaunching, featuring lots of embroidery and nostalgic elements that mean a lot to me. The loungewear collection embodies LA’s luxe, chic, and cozy vibe. Longtime followers will really enjoy it. Additionally, I’m looking forward to new music and live performances—I miss performing live andwant to do it again. There will also be new music videos. My plan is to stay creative and keep pushing forward.

Why would someone who is introverted, has anxiety, and living with PTSD choose to step on a stage and be judged? Because my entire life, I’ve been bullied, dismissed, and made to feel “less than.” I was always told by family and friends that I was “too much,” that I needed to shrink myself to fit into other people’s expectations and comfort. But pageantry gave me something I’d never been allowed to have, my power! Pageantry gave me my voice, and I’m no longer afraid to use it. It surrounded me with people who remind me that I am enough, exactly as I am, and that I don’t need anyone’s approval to take up space. Now, I want to be that reminder for others. I want to make people feel seen, heard, and supported, because I know what it’s like to stand alone with no one cheering for you. I know what it’s like to feel invisible, and I never want anyone to feel the isolation I carried for most of my life. Stepping on that stage isn’t about being judged. It’s about reclaiming myself so I can help others reclaim themselves too.

In 2023, during a casual introduction, Teissia and Sarah discovered they had lived in the same Los Angeles apartment… just not at the same time. When Teissia left for New York City in 2011, Sarah moved in, unknowingly connected by the same cozy Franklin Village walls. Over a decade later, under the cool mountain air of Mammoth Lakes, the two finally met. By the end of the evening, they were sketching a shared vision: a shop that felt like home, reflecting the spirit of the community they loved. Their journeys to that moment could not have been more different. Teissia spent over a decade building a global event-planning company, crafting celebrations around the world before choosing the slower life of the Eastern Sierra. Sarah traded Hollywood to pursue her love of cooking, attending culinary school and becoming a private chef. She raised two children, and launched a ceramics line supporting cancer organizations—a cause close to her heart as a cancer survivor. Their personal challenges, Sarah’s breast cancer journey and Teissia’s experience with infertility, deepened their commitment to living with intention. They became more thoughtful about what they put into their bodies and what they wanted to put into the world. Mammoth Mercantile grew from that ethos: a warm, elevated space designed with the thoughtful consumer in mind. Inspired by timeless classics, modern singer/songwriter Callie McCullough has followed her unique muse for years. The Walking With Alex Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring that every child with autism and developmental delays receives the therapies, resources, and lifelong support they deserve— regardless of their financial circumstances. Inspired by one extraordinary boy named Alex and built by mothers, advocates, and professionals, the foundation’s mission is rooted in love, empathy, and the unwavering belief that progress is always possible when families are supported. We exist to bridge the gap for children who are falling through the cracks of the current system, children who need therapies such as ABA, speech, occupational, behavioral, feeding, or social-skills support, but who cannot access consistent care due to insurance denials, long waitlists, or financial hardship.
WHEN AND HOW DID IT START? The foundation began with the journey of Alex, diagnosed with autism at age two. His mother, Nina, devoted her life to his progress—navigating countless therapies, celebrating breakthroughs, and confronting the painful reality that too many families do not have access to the same opportunities.Seeing the difference proper intervention made in Alex’s life and seeing how many families were struggling alone, Nina and founder Carol created the Walking With Alex Foundation so that no child would be denied the chance to grow, thrive, and reach their fullest potential. What began as one child’s journey has now grown into a movement to expand access, break down barriers, and create meaningful change..
WHAT ARE THE FOUNDATION’S FUTURE PLANS FOR IMPACT & CHANGE? TThe foundation is building a long-term vision to transform how children with autism receive support. Our ongoing and future initiatives include:
1. Financial Assistance for Therapies Providing grants to help families pay for ABA, speech therapy, OT, PT, behavioral therapy, and early intervention.
2. Parent & Caregiver Support Programs Creating workshops, resource guides, and support groups so families never feel alone.
3. Advocacy for Insurance & School Support Helping families navigate IEPs, insurance denials, appeals, and access to school-based services. Creating training programs to train future therapist and caregivers in order to make sure that well trained and well paid professionals are available to support these children.
4. Community Education & Awareness Partnering with schools, clinicians, and community organizations to promote understanding, inclusion, and acceptance. Our goal is not just to help individual families—but to change the landscape of support for children with autism in Armenia, Lebanon and United States. In addition to providing direct support to families, the Walking With Alex Foundation is committed to educating the broader community. We regularly author blog posts that explore a wide range of topics related to autism—early signs, therapy options, school rights, insurance challenges, daily living strategies, and more. These articles are designed not only to guide families through their journey, but also to give the public an opportunity to learn about this developmental disorder with empathy and accuracy. By raising awareness and promoting understanding, we strive to make the world a more inclusive, informed, and supportive place for children with autism and the families who love them. As part of our long-term vision, the Walking With Alex Foundation is committed to staying at the forefront of scientific and medical progress. We plan to partner
with universities, research laboratories, and medical innovators to ensure we remain fully informed about the newest developments in autism research. This includes emerging therapeutic devices designed to help autistic children build skills and navigate the world more independently, as well as supplements and medications shown to support neurological and developmental functioning. We are also dedicated to exploring both western medical advancements and holistic approaches that may ease challenges commonly faced by children with autism. Through these partnerships, we aim to bring credible, evidence-based information to the families we serve and contribute to a future where support and innovation continually evolve.
Our plans for the future are vast and intentionally comprehensive. We recognize that supporting a child with autism means supporting the entire family, which is why our mission extends far beyond individual therapies or programs. We are committed to ensuring that every child receives the services, interventions, and opportunities they need to reach their fullest potential. At the same time, we want parents and caregivers to have the resources, guidance, and emotional support necessary to pursue their own goals and dreams. We understand—better than anyone—that being an autism parent is one of the most challenging journeys in the world. Our foundation aims to lighten that burden, strengthen families, and create a community where no one walks this path alone.
HOW CAN SOMEONE GET INVOLVED WITH THE FOUNDATION?
The Walking With Alex Foundation also believes in bringing people together. We regularly host both small and large community events—fundraisers, awareness walks, educational gatherings, family-centered activities, and signature annual celebrations. These events not only help us raise the resources needed to support children with autism, but also create meaningful opportunities for the public to connect with our mission, learn about our programs, and stand with families navigating this journey. As we continue to grow, we plan to expand the number and variety of events we offer so that everyone has ample opportunity to support the foundation and be part of the change we are creating.
