The Multi-Code Reader is designed to read 2D Data Matrix Codes and ID bar codes in high-speed industrial automation applications. The versatile reader can identify, verify and qualify most marking methods including dot-peened, laser-etched and printed DMC codes as well as printed barcodes. LIQUID FLOW TRANSMITTER
The FSW-9000 series liquid flow transmitter provides high reliability with no moving parts. This flow switch monitor measures the velocity of the flow and features a chain of eight LEDs which give the user a visual indication of the flow rate as well as set-point status, and one dichromatic LED indicates switch point status. The sensing element and connection of the FSW-9000 are made with 316 stainless steel and the standard enclosure is glass-filled nylon. ROLL CONVEYOR PROVIDES BLAST CLEANING SOLUTIONS W ith their recent plant facility move from Markham to Aurora, Ontario, Modern Railings and Metalcraft Ltd., purchased a Wheelabrator® Roll Conveyor system for their new location. The Canadian-owned and operated metal fabricator employs approximately 40 skilled crafts people and serves the North American construction industry. Their typical range of parts for cleaning includes flat bars, angles, channels, wide flange beams, I-beams, and HSS (Hollow Structural Steel) tubing. When Modern Railings President/ Owner, Ken Lilley, decided to move his operations from one location to another, he approached Wheelabrator Group to design a new Roll Conveyor system to replace two older roll conveyor machines that were showing their age. Modern Railings considered re-building these existing models but realized it would be
too expensive, with the re-furbishing process and the logistics in relocating the equipment. “The primary consideration in the design was in reducing the height of the dust collector to ensure it did not interfere with the overhead cranes,” said Joan Lilley, Vice-President. “However, we did

require the design to be revised mid-way through the design stage to account for space related issues with the blast machine and associated duct work.” Wheelabrator Group sales representative, Don Pelle, brought Mr. Lilley and his team to a customer site to showcase a similar operating Wheelabrator Roll Conveyor system that had recently been installed. Impressed with what they saw, it did not take Modern Railings long to realize the best decision for their future operation was a new Wheelabrator blast cleaning system. A final decision was made and the system was purchased and installed. Running one shift per day, five days a week, the cleaning process has been extremely simplified with their recent investment. Equipped with new technology processes and four 15 HP EZEFIT® blast wheels, the new system effectively meets Modern Railings & Metalcraft Ltd. needs. “We generally run our shot-blast system on the highest speed setting for blasting mild steel parts, typically to a SP6, commercial finish. The steel parts can range in length from 10 feet to 60 feet. The machine also has safety features that were not on our old machine. We have also been using our new system to clean material for other fabricators’ projects,” Ms Lilley states. The steel is loaded by an overhead crane on to the entrance of the roll conveyor with the blast system set in automatic mode. When the steel to be cleaned enters the blast chamber, the steel activates a sensor which automatically starts the steel shot abrasive flow. The system automatically turns the abrasive both on and off. The system also includes an automatic abrasive blow-off at the exit-end of the machine. The installation of the new Wheelabrator cleaning system provided the immediate benefits of increased production capacity, improved blasting efficiency, and reduced operating costs. “In our old facility we had two machines. One to clean small parts and pieces of material, and one used for large steel parts,” confirms Ms Lilley. “Our new shot-blast system has a larger opening which allows for the cleaning of parts and pieces of material of various sizes at the
same time. This machine is considerably quieter than our old machine and we are saving on steel shot mix as we are using 1/3 of the amount of abrasive with this machine as previously required. We are also saving on maintenance and repair parts,” says Ms Lilley. The Wheelabrator Roll Conveyor was the first piece of machinery installed in the company’s new Aurora facility. Prior to shipping, the machine was fully wired and wet-run with abrasive to ensure a smooth installation. A full installation package was purchased consisting of complete mechanical and electrical installation, start-up and equipment commissioning, plus operation and maintenance training. The seated position enhances the range of operating positions, increasing operator comfort and lessening fatigue. The operator may choose the seated position for longer runs. The model 7600 features an ergonomic seat that flips up and out of the way to allow the operator to use the lift truck in a standing position. The Triumph™ Wheel is designed for ma jor manufacturing environments including tow-line, automotive, and tire manufactur ing. The new wheels with the MPH on the end standing for quick, smooth and silent rolling, are built for high capacity loads up to 1200 lbs per wheel. They are available in four models with 75, 80, 90 and 95 Shore A durometer polyurethane thread. All of the products are manufactured with maintenance-free, precision bearings for maximum rolling ease. The non-marking, polyurethane wheels, constructed in red, blue and brown, depending upon model, are equipped in either Round or Crown thread for managing obstructions and en hanced swivel. SPIRAL CONVEYORS
The Ryson High Capacity Spirals have a load capacity of 75 lbs. per linear foot of conveyor for speed up to 200 fpm. The total weight capacity in the spiral at any one time is 3200 lbs. AIRLANCO Bag Dump Stations are com pact, self-contained units built to eliminate the labour, waste, and potential health haz ards associated with the spillage and dust normally caused when bagged materials are introduced into processing systems. Construction is 304 stainless steel, with welded interior and exterior. Each station consists of a large collection hopper topped by a bar grate and hinged door, an integral pulse jet filtration unit equipped with poly ester cartridge filters, and a 2-hp, 865-cfm fan. When the hopper’s door is opened, the fan automatically starts to ensure that any dust is drawn through the filter. Pro grammable pulses of reverse air periodic ally dislodge the material that collects on the surfaces of the cartridge filters and al low it to fall into the collection hopper.
