NEW Blackmagic Duplicator 4K deliver Ultra HDs content as H.265 files recorded onto SD cards.
Blackmagic Supports UHD/4K Delivery The new Blackmagic Design Duplicator 4K supports the delivery of ultra HD content by recording H.265 files onto SD cards in an open file format that can be immediately distributed. The built in real-time H.265 hardware encoder delivers Ultra HD video, even at high frame rates up to 2160p60. The H.265 video files are small with data rates low so content can play back from standard SD card media. With H.265, Ultra HD content is not much larger in file size than a HD file would be in the older H.264 standard. Featuring 25 SD card recorders miniaturized into a single rack unit, the Blackmagic Duplicator 4K uses standard, common SD cards that are readily available, super thin, inexpensive and very fast. Cards can be used for SD, HD and Ultra HD video up to 2160p60 and are compatible with Windows 10 computers. With the addition of a USB adapter, SD cards can even be plugged directly into most consumer Ultra HD televisions for immediate playback of the video. Blackmagic Video Assist 4K features two built in high speed UHS-II recorders that work with the latest high performance SD cards, making them fast enough to record Ultra HD video up to 2160p30 on widely available, inexpensive SD cards. Files are saved as broadcast quality 10-bit 4:2:2 video in either ProRes or DNxHD formats, making them compatible with all popular editing software, like DaVinci Resolve, so you can start editing immediately without having to transcode or convert files. Recording can be triggered to start and stop using LANC or over HDMI or SDI from the camera. Blackmagic Video Assist 4K is also an extremely high quality audio recorder that features two mini XLR inputs with 48V of phantom power so customers can attach external microphones. video, eliminating AV sync issues between separate audio and video files. The unit has a 7-inch, high resolution 1920 x 1200 monitor and touchscreen with a wide 135º viewing angle. The display is also a touchscreen that lets customers use simple tap and swipe gestures to display camera information, change settings and evaluate audio and video levels. Other Blackmagic products that are now ultra HD and 4K ready include converter upgrades, a new DeckLink Duo 2 PCIe Capture and Playback Card, an update to the ATEM switcher, UltraStudio 4K Extreme 3, a Desktop Video 10.6.4 update with HDR and Video Assist 4K. TVLogic 4K Reference Monitors TVLogic has introduced its LUM-240G, a 12G 4K reference monitor, as one of 10 new models from the company. Included in the line-up are four 10-bit 12G-ready 4K models in 17”, 24”, 42” and 55” sizes, three 1920 x 1080 10-bit 17” broadcast and colour-critical models, two new 7” field and on-board monitors, and a new 5 x 3.5” rack monitor. The 10-bit native 3840 x 2160 240G reference monitor has 3G quad link and 6/12G single link input + HDMI 2.0 for 4K 60p. It includes 3D LUT import/export, HD 1:1 or full-screen upscaling function, as well as a colour calibration utility. The LUM-240G features a matte finish panel, true 4K resolution, true DCI colour gamut, true 24p (48Hz) driving for digital cinema and 1:1 Pixel Mapping Modes for HD. The LUM-420M/550M are 42” and 55” native 3840 x 2160 10-bit models with support for 3G quad and 6/12G single input 4K, four input quad HD, and two Sample Interleave modes. NEW Hitachi Adds High Dynamic Range (HDR) Hitachi is adding High Dynamic Range (HDR) imaging capabilities to its high-quality Ultra High Definition (UHD) 4K and HDTV broadcast cameras. At the high-end of the product line, HDR has been added to the Hitachi SK-UHD4000 UHD studio/field camera. With its industry standard B4 2/3-inch bayonet mount and 2/3-inch sensors, operators can still make use of their existing HDTV lenses. The camera delivers the depth of field and high sensitivity needed for traditional TV studio and sports production with UHD quality. HDR has also been added to the Hitachi Z-HD6000 HDTV studio/field production cameras system, which captures 1920x1080 resolution video. This native 2K camera utilizes 2.6 megapixels and 2/3-inch MOS sensors and offers F12 standard sensitivity with >60 dB of video headroom and realtime lens aberration correction (RLAC). As a multi-standard, low-noise portable HD Studio and EFP camera, Hitachi’s SK-HD1000 acquires outstanding images with its three (R,G,B) 2.3 megapixel UAIT (UltraAdvanced) CCD sensors and now enhanced by HDR.

Montreal Mobile Adds 4K, Long Zoom Capabilities

Montreal-based production and rental house Video MTL and its Toronto location, Dazmo Camera, have added the new Fujinon UA107x8.4 (UA107x) lens into their production and rental mix. The lenses are the newest standard feature of Video MTL and Dazmo’s production truck, where they complement 10 Sony HDC4300 4K/HD cameras. Recently introduced, the UA107x is the longest and widest 4K lens ever created for Ultra HD (UHD) broadcast applications. While Video MTL and Dazmo own several Cabrio PL lenses, their purchase of two 107x’s and one UA22x8 portable zoom is the company’s first optics selection for nextgeneration 2/3-inch UHD cameras. Future growth expected in 4K mobile production and a specific customer request precipitated the order, the production company describers. And just four days after placing the order, the new lenses were at work on a shoot produced by La Grosse Fabrique for Netflix France, a full 4K shoot from recording to delivery. “These lenses, in combination with our production truck, allowed us to provide that for them. They also wanted a long zoom, and because we believe demand for the 107x will only increase, we felt this lens was a great choice for us in terms of investment,” said Andrew Lapierre of Video MTL. 4K Transition Tools from Tektronix Tektronix’ new extensions to the MTS4000 and MTS4SAV3 test platforms include comprehensive HEVC analysis tools for operators transitioning to 4K. In addition to the new HEVC support for content distribution, Tektronix is also adding features to assist settop box (STB) manufacturers who need the ability to create custom 4K and HEVC transport streams to test 4K on STBs. Using the MTS4000, manufacturers can now create 4K transport streams from elementary streams and system information tables with custom parameters. The MTS4000 provides comprehensive transport streams analysis and interoperability testing. Its deep analysis of the transport streams, PES, and elementary streams helps track down sources of picture anomalies and identify transport streams with syntax errors. Its ability to capture events for in depth troubleshooting is also critical to identifying the root cause of problems. BenQ 4K UHD Monitor for Video Editing BenQ’s PV3200PT IPS monitor is a 32-inch 4K Ultra HD display with 10-bit, 100-percent sRGB colour, following the Rec. 709 standard. The PV3200PT specializes in reproducing colour tones with a Delta-E value of less than or equal to two and features a 14-bit 3D Look Up Table (LUT) to display the most accurate colour mixture for improved RGB colour blending. This results in impeccable colour and gray tone reproduction. The GY-HM660 is the industry’s first streaming camcorder with integrated IFB, one channel for the camera operator and a separate feed for talent. As a result, news teams can communicate with the studio while streaming live HD reports from the field. Video Clarity Monitor and Measurement Device for 4K Video Clarity has released a 4K-capable version of the company’s RTM real-time audio and video monitoring solutions. RTM 4K is the first quality-monitoring solution that can apply 4K video sources and compare them with encoded/decoded 4K video, the manufacturer reports, to test for video quality, audio quality, lip sync, and loudness. It performs those tests using full-reference methods and correlates results to accepted scales of human perception. Content originators and delivery networks can use RTM 4K to measure the quality of delivered 4K video over time by comparing the 4K source with the downstream versions, with audio quality, lip sync, and loudness included. Like all RTM systems, RTM 4K alerts and records a degraded A/V signal if it falls below user-set limits, enabling users either to make adjustments as the content is playing out, or to study and www.broadcastermagazine.com
correct the problem later. Content providers can also deploy RTM 4K — both in advance and during a broadcast — for long-haul perform-

KFX Technology Remote Heads, Skater Dolly The KFX/MYT Velvet Remote Head is a super compact remote head with enough power to move even larger camera packages around with ease. It has a capacity of 50lbs/22kgs. Using backlash free gearboxes the MYT Velvet is incredibly smooth in operation, with zero lag from the operator’s perspective and spot-on starts and stops. This new system is based on the popular MYT Velvet pan and tilt Fluidless Nodal head combined with KFX Technology control system with its simple, one cable plug and play operation. The MYT Velvet has a simple joystick control console that has the usual KFX functions for setting speed, end stops and direction. Options are available for pan bar or hand wheel control. The first collaboration between KFX and MYT began with the motorization of the MYT Constellation skater dolly from the MYT Galaxy Line. The MYT Constellation is a camera skater dolly that runs on regular speed rails, an industry standard which allows very long runs to be achieved in comparison to regular fixed bearing camera sliders. This allows for motor controlled tracking shots up to 300 feet/90m. As with all KFX products this motor unit is compatible with the MYT Velvet Remote Head as well as the KFX Aurora Remote Head. NEW BBS Debuts LED Remote Phosphor Light Bank System BBS Lighting’s new Bank LED Remote Phosphor lights come in Pipeline 4-Bank, 3’ and 4’ systems. By incorporating Remote Phosphor technology in the new 4-Banks, the fixtures deliver a 95+ TLCI (Television Lighting Consistency Index). With traditional LEDs, the manufacturer reports, colour output begins to drift over time due to heat damage to the phosphor layer doped directly on the bulbs. Remote Phosphor Pipes feature a phosphor layer positioned away from the LEDs to remain brighter, with a consistently high TLCI over years of use. Bluebell Single-Cable Connectivity for 4K Broadcast Applications Bluebell Opticom announced a suite of products that provide a single coax or fibre connection to a 12 Gbps SDI video interface for 4K/UHD applications. It gives broadcast studios and outside broadcast operators a SMPTE 2082-compliant, one-cable alternative to quad-link HD solutions required for 4K broadcasts today. The current method of transporting a single 4K signal is to send four 3 Gbps SDI signals over four separate cables (one signal per cable). Bluebell’s 12 Gbps SDI solution reduces the cable count for a 4K signal from four to one, which reduces the complexity of the setup considerably. NEW Fibre Booth Kit for Mobile TV Group’s New 4K Truck Mobile TV Group is using a full-size fibre booth kit from Joseph Electronics for use with 39 Flex, its newest purposebuilt 4K outside broadcast (OB) truck. The custom-built JE booth kit is the first for the powerhouse OB company. The kit’s first show was the 2016 Masters Golf Tournament, which was also the first live 4K broadcast in the United States. The new truck, 39 Flex, has also covered Canadian Football League games, with the fibre booth kit in use about half the time. Mobile TV Group has retrofitted some of its other trucks to be able to use the kit when it’s not needed in 39 Flex. Mobile TV Group’s fibre booth kit contains eight bidirectional HD-SDI video feeds, eight IFBs, four partylines, and two 1 Gigabit Ethernet connections. “A fibre booth kit is something we never had before but have long needed,” said Peter Wehner, director of engineering at Mobile TV Group. “In the past, when clients had an

Engineering, manufacturers of X-keys computer input devices, announced new product compatibility with NewTek TriCaster multi-camera video production systems. With this new integration, X-keys buttons and controls will be instantly available in TriCaster for triggering assignable functions. Previous versions required the end user or integrator to program the X-keys with a series of keystroke combinations, and be careful not to conflict with existing shortcuts. In this new release, TriCaster sees the X-keys as a unique USB HID device and maps keys and controls to functions without using keystrokes. Keys on the X-keys can easily be labeled individually to identify their functions. Users trigger actions from dedicated keys without having to search the screen or

SGL is introducing FlashNet Lite, its new entry-level software offering the full FlashNet solution but restricted to a single server node. At IBC 2016, SGL will demonstrate its new User Interface for the first time in Europe. The UI provides customers sophisticated tools for archive and restore functionality, system health, monitoring, analysis and more. While many media files require large amounts of storage, projects also often require much smaller files to be stored such as JPEGs, XMLs, and so on. If each file is archived separately the process of writing to tape becomes much less efficient. The FlashNet Amalgamation Service resolves this problem by consolidating multiple small files into one set of files, which will be archived at the same time without additional tape positioning. SGL now supports reading and restoring from SMPTE’s Archive eXchange Format (AXF), and it has support for Sony’s cloud-based service, Ci, that allows media professionals to collaborate on the creation and sharing of high quality, high resolution content.
