How to Reserve a GCNWI Property

1.Visit our Property Reservations Page or girlscout.info/ReserveCamp and click “Reserve Now”

2. Use the search bar at the top or click a specific camp to view available sites

3. Once you’ve decided on an available property, sign in and complete the registration process

Property Reservation Requirements

All Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana troop leaders, members, and volunteers reserving property must:

Complete the Volunteer Basics Learning Path

Hold current First Aid/CPR certification or obtain prior to reservation start date

Complete any additional required outdoor trainings in GS Learn, based on the type of experience reserved

Non-Girl Scout groups are welcome to reserve our properties. Outside groups must provide a certificate of insurance (COI) prior to their reservation.

Required Outdoor Trainings

As troops plan day or overnight experiences at camp, the following trainings are required based on type of outing:

Overnight Excursion Training – Required for all overnight trips

Fire Safety and Building – Required for campfires (including s’mores or stick cooking)

Outdoor Cooking - Required for more extensive cooking over fire or charcoal (i.e. pie irons, dutch ovens)

Rustic Camping – Required for stays in platform tents, tabins, yurts, or pitch-your-own tent sites (outdoor cooking required)

Basic Medication Administration – Required for troops and service units reserving Girl Scout camp sites (online training through Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, not available in gsLearn) Reservations for GCNWI Members/Volunteers will remain tentative until required trainings are completed. Once trainings are completed and verified, the reservation will be approved.

Pricing

GCNWI members may access member rates when using the property for volunteer-related Girl Scout activities, including troop and service unit use.

Camp Butternut Springs offers beginner friendly high adventure with the Albert C. Hanna Adventure Course, a heated pool with upgraded shower house, and multiple lodging options to help your group have the perfect camping experience. Camp Butternut Springs is accredited with the American Camp Association.

Beckoning Woods Lodge (Becky)

Year round lodge that sleeps 20 with bunk beds and two leader rooms, flush toilets, showers, heating, and AC. Amenities include kitchen with refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher, indoor electric fire place, and TV with Blu-ray player.

Cedar and Tamarack Lodges

Year-round lodges that sleep 36 people each on bunk beds. Both lodges have two leader rooms that sleep four people each on bunk beds. Amenities include kitchenette with refrigerator (no range), heating, AC, indoor bathroom with stalls and two showers, one individual accessible bathroom with a shower, and outdoor fire ring.

Friendship Lodge

McCormick Lodge (Mac)

Year-round lodge that sleeps 20 people on bunk beds with mattresses. One leader room sleeps four people on bunk beds with an individual bathroom. Amenities include kitchen with stovetop, oven, microwave, refrigerator, indoor bathroom with stalls, and outdoor fire ring.

Wieboldt Lodge with Small Cabins

Year-round lodge with two sides that can be reserved separately or together. Friendship A sleeps 26 people on bunk beds. Friendship B sleeps 22 people on bunk beds. Amenities on each side include kitchen with stovetop, oven, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, heating, AC, indoor bathroom with stalls and one shower, one individual accessible bathroom with a shower, small fireplace, and outdoor fire ring.

Gathering Place

This large dining hall facility contains a full service commercial kitchen and dining area that can seat approximately 225 people. Indoor bathrooms are also available. Food Protection Manager certification is required to use the kitchen.

Showers

All year shower house available for use by anyone on camp. Amenities include up to 16 individual bathrooms with showers, sinks, toilets, and hot water Exact number of available stalls depends on season.

If your group rents out all sites at Camp Butternut Springs, you are able to use the Gathering Place and Dining Hall at no extra cost.

*Use of the Commercial Kitchen would be a separate, additional cost. In order to use the commercial kitchen, groups must have a minimum of one ServSafe Food Service Manager present to oversee food service.

Aowakiya Platform Tents

Eight tents sleep four people each on cots. Amenities include covered picnic tables, outdoor latrine toilets, and fire ring. No refrigeration or electricity. Available mid-April through October, weather permitting.

Mon Daw Min Lodge

Year-round lodge sleeps 36 people on the floor with mattresses. One leader room sleeps two people on cots with an individual bathroom. Amenities include kitchen with stovetop, oven, microwave, refrigerator, indoor bathroom with stalls, fireplace, and fire ring.

Odakota Lodge

Year-round lodge sleeps 36 people on the floor with mattresses. One leader room sleeps three, two on bunk beds and one on a cot, with an individual bathroom. Amenities include kitchen with stovetop, oven, microwave, refrigerator, indoor bathroom with stalls, fireplace, and fire ring.

*Showers in the lower level of Odakota are available to groups upon request.

Qui Quito Lodge

Year-round lodge sleeps 24 people on bunk beds. Five dorm rooms sleep four people each on bunk beds that open to main center room. One private leader room sleeps four people on bunk beds and a private sink. Amenities include kitchen with stovetop, oven, microwave, refrigerator, indoor bathroom with stalls, one individual bathroom, fireplace, and fire ring.

Wapikiya Tabin Site

Nine tabins sleep four people each on cots. Amenities include covered picnic tables, outdoor latrine toilets, and fire ring. No refrigeration or electricity. Available mid-April through October, weather permitting.

Yurts

Five yurts sleep six people each on cots/trundle beds. Main yurt is large enough for group gatherings. Amenities include covered picnic tables and fire ring. Indoor bathroom with stalls, multiple showers, and refrigerator located in lower level of Odakota. Available mid-April through October, weather permitting.

Facilities

Jane H. Gurney Pavilion

An outdoor shelter with a concrete floor which includes picnic tables. Seating for up to 75 on benches and floor. The pavilion is available midApril through October, weather permitting.

Soak up the sun at Camp Juniper Knoll! With several different rustic and lodging options, Camp Juniper Knoll has the facilities to meet your group’s needs. Spend time at Pleasant Lake or gather around the Amphitheater for a memorable group experience. Camp Juniper Knoll is accredited with the American Camp Association.

Citadel Lodge and Platform Tents

Three-season lodge sleeps 14 people on bunk beds. Amenities include covered picnic tables, fire ring, fireplace, indoor wood stove heater, and kitchen with stovetop, oven, microwave, and refrigerator. Wash stand with flush toilets and electric outlets nearby. Nine platform tents sleep four people each on cots with mattresses. Available May and Augustearly October, weather permitting.

Clippership and Frontier Platform Tents

Platform tent units with a capacity of 40 people; tents sleep 4 people each on cots with mattresses. Amenities include covered picnic tables and 2 fire rings; no refrigeration. Wash stand with flush toilets and electric outlets nearby. Available May and August-October, weather permitting.

Health Center

Year-round lodge sleeps 20 people on bunk beds; 10 people in a bunk room and two separate rooms that sleep 6 and 4 people each. Amenities include outdoor picnic tables and fire ring, two individual bathrooms, one individual bathroom with a shower, air conditioning, and kitchen with stovetop, oven, microwave, refrigerator.

Promise Lodge

Year-round lodge with two sides that can be rented separately or together. Promise A sleeps 20 people on bunk beds. Promise B sleeps 24 people on bunk beds. Amenities on each side include air conditioning, small indoor fireplace, covered porch with picnic tables, fire ring with uncovered picnic tables, indoor multi-stall bathroom with one shower, one individual accessible bathroom with a shower, and kitchen with stovetop, oven, microwave, and refrigerator.

Shongela Yurts

Five yurts sleep eight people each on bunk beds. Amenities include covered picnic tables and fire ring; no refrigeration, no electricity. Wash stand with flush toilets nearby. Available May and August-October, weather permitting.

Wilderness Lodge and Platform Tents

Year-round lodge sleeps 20 people on bunk beds. Amenities include indoor bathrooms (no showers), large fireplace, covered picnic tables, two fire rings, and kitchen with stovetop, oven, microwave, and refrigerator. Nine platform tents sleep four people each on cots with mattresses. Tents available May, and Augustearly October, weather permitting.

Amphitheater

Outdoor seating area for up to 200 with large fire ring and stage with lighting and electricity.

Dining Hall

This year-round accessible facility contains a full service commercial kitchen with a dining area that can seat 160 people. Amenities include airconditioning, indoor bathrooms, and a fireplace. Food Protection Manager certification is required to use kitchen.

Low Lodge

Large multipurpose room commonly used for meetings and indoor activities. Amenities include a fireplace and electricity

Shower House

Three-season, open-air shower house available for use by anyone on camp in May and August-early October, weather permitting. Amenities include 1 bathroom, 11 shower stalls, and hot water.

If your group rents out all sites at Camp Butternut Springs, you are able to use the Gathering Place and Dining Hall at no extra cost.

Four small year-round cabins that sleep ten people each on bunk beds. Each cabin has airconditioning and an indoor bathroom with a shower. Kitchen house is separate with two full kitchens, each including a stovetop, oven, refrigerator, and microwave. Amenities also include two fire rings.

Year-round lodge that sleeps 16 people on bunk beds. Two dorm rooms sleep eight people and open main room sleeps an additional four people on the floor with mattresses.
