About the Girls Club
The Lower Eastside Girls Club supports young women and genderexpansive youth of color throughout New York City in leveraging their inner power to shape a better future for themselves, their community, and the world. Through free, year-round, innovative programming we connect young people with their passions, celebrate their curiosity, and channel their creative energy. Together, we are building a just and equitable future filled with “Joy. Power. Possibility.”
About Event Rentals
The Girls Club provides a limited number of event rentals, which directly support our free, year-round programming for youth, their families, and the community.
Our Spaces
The Girls Club is available to host events, conferences, workshops, and special programming

Center for Community
Center for Wellbeing & Happiness
The Center for Community is a 35,000 ft 2 state-of-the-art facility located at 402 East 8 th Street (between Avenues C and D) and may be rented for corporate, private, civic, educational, cultural, and community-related events.
The Center for Wellbeing & Happiness is our 5,000 ft 2 facility located at 101 Avenue D (between E. 7 th and E. 8 th Streets) and may be rented for civic, educational, cultural, and community-related events.
Baker Hall
Baker Hall is a large, light-filled public assembly room used for dance and music classes, conferences, and community meetings.
Baker Hall was named for three women all sharing the same family name: Josephine Baker, Ella Baker, and Jennifer Baker. Two of these women were civil rights warriors who had worked with Dr. King in the Civil Rights Movement. Jennifer Baker was a young woman from our community who passed away from HIV/AIDs.

Baker Hall is 52 ft x 27 ft. As a movement center, Baker Hall has hardwood floors, floor to ceiling mirrors, window garage door that opens onto the courtyard (39 ft x 37 ft) featuring a Kiki Smith fountain. We have risers, 125 chairs, and 12 collapsible 8ft round tables. TV and sound system

V.I.P.
VIP (Voice, Identity, Power) is a sunny, spacious leadership center on the 1 st and 2 nd floors of the Center for Community. It’s ideal for workshops, meetings, and panel discussions, and breakaway groups.
VIP is outfitted with step seating, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a large flatscreen TV with Apple TV.

Courtyard
The Courtyard is located just off Baker Hall on the first floor. This serene outdoor space offers the perfect atmosphere to take a break, enjoy fresh air, and relax in comfortable seating. Adorned with two sculptures by renowned artist Kiki Smith, the Courtyard is an ideal spot for refreshments, unwinding and networking.

The Courtyard is 39ft x 37ft. The Courtyard has access to 20 cafe chairs and 10 round cafe tables.
Art Exhibition, Performance / Talk, Cocktail Party
Art + GalleryCommunity
The Art + Community Gallery is on the ground floor and easily accessible from East 8 th Street. The Gallery functions as a public space for critical dialogue on the role of art and aesthetics in community life, and provides one of the few exhibition venues on the Lower East Side where emerging and relatively unknown young artists, artists who might be considered ‘outsider,’ youth artists, and artists who are well known for their work are shown side-by-side. The Gallery is an ideal location for a cocktail party or gallery opening.

The Gallery is 1,100 square feet. It has two 55” flatscreen TVs complete with Apple TV. The gallery features a large, custom welcome desk, and a juice bar that can be used as a prep kitchen and serving area. The gallery has 4 leather benches.
Film Screenings, Interactive, Musical Performances,
East Village Planetarium
The planetarium is acoustically treated to provide a movie theater-like experience and can provide two separate visual experiences: 360° immersive projections via our dome-calibrated fisheye projector, and cinema aspect. An adjacent “planetarium lobby” provides a convenient space to host pre- and post-screening receptions.

Happiness Hall
A space for social-connectedness and civic engagement, where we will host community and intergenerational events such as art exhibits, film festivals, book talks, career panels, dance and movement workshops; as well as musical and dance performances. Community groups also hold meetings here.

A Quiet Space to Recharge and Connect
Wellbeing Lounge
A communal space for our community to come together in deep conversation, knowledge sharing, and collective healing. We host an array of teen, LGBTQIA, parenting, and maternity support groups; as well as knitting circles and book groups.
