Ever since launching the DEDON Tour du Monde, California has been at the top of our list. This year we traveled there, and we´re excited to share what we found in this paradise of outdoor living.
Our journey led us from rugged coasts to cactus- dotted deserts. Starting in a characteristic Malibu beach house, we discovered the seaside life. Moving on to Joshua Tree National Park, we divided our time between an iconic desert home, where BRIXX showed off its indoor versatility, and the park’s otherworldly landscapes, where MBRACE and TIBBO gave new meaning to ‘outdoor furniture’.
As the new DEDON catalog makes clear, our collections felt as at home in California as we did. There are so many places in this wonderful world still to explore, but one thing we know for sure California, we’ll be back.

Investigada, desarrollada, fabricada y testada en nuestras propias instalaciones del norte de Alemania. Strong enough to withstand the harshest conditions yet supple enough to be woven into artful patterns by our master weavers, it has revolutionized outdoor furniture.
Because DEDON produces its fiber entirely in house, we are able to work with world-renowned designers to develop unique colors, textures and profiles. Our specialists monitor every new fiber we create, checking for resistance to UV-rays, salt water, pool water and extremes of temperature. The final product is non-toxic, non-polluting and fully recyclable. It is also maintenance-free, easy to clean and recommended for indoor and outdoor use.

DEDON owns and operates the entire production chain of its hand-woven outdoor furniture. We lovingly oversee every aspect of our products’ creation, from fiber production in Germany to manufacturing on Cebu Island in the Philippines.
It was the talent of Cebu’s world-renowned weavers that first drew us to the island. Their skill and creativity, reflected in patterns of incomparable intricacy, innovation and artfulness, sets us apart. Indeed, every piece of woven DEDON furniture is the embodiment of modern technology and centuries-old craftsmanship.
But Cebu today is much more than just weaving for us. It is home to our high-tech R&D lab, our aluminum-frame production, our quality control program and our international logistics center. More to the point, it is home for a big part of the DEDON team, and a home away from home for the rest of us.

At DEDON, we’re specialists in more than just fiber and furniture production. Each of these settings requires the right materials, of course. That’s why we select teak, fiber, aluminum, ceramics, upholstery, ropes, woven textiles and sling fabric to suit the individual needs of every collection and its context.
To ensure highest-quality materials of all kinds, DEDON works exclusively with suppliers who share our passion for excellence. Our beautiful slow-growth teak, for example, is sourced only from certified sustainable plantations in Indonesia. Our rope, upholstery and ceramics come mainly from traditional Italian producers. For our luxurious fabrics and sling materials, we collaborate with carefully chosen ateliers in Italy, Belgium and the US.
To complete our range of surfaces and offer the widest styling possibilities, we use HPL, glass and powder coatings in a carefully selected range of colors and finishes. Since founding their London studio in 1996, Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby have produced a diverse body of work that spans industrial design, furniture, lighting, site-specific installations and public commissions, including the London 2012 Olympic Torch and furniture for the Portsmouth Cathedral. With TIBBO, their debut project for DEDON, they take the brand into new territory with a teak collection.

Coming from the fashion industry, Lorenza Bozzoli brings a fresh approach to furniture design, as evidenced by BRIXX, her latest collection for DEDON. It was Lorenza’s eye for detail and understanding of craftsmanship that first drew our attention. Her designs have been showcased in leading international venues, including the Cooper-Hewitt in New York and the Triennale Design Museum in Milan, the city where Lorenza lives and works.

One of Europe’s most talked-about young design talents, Sebastian Herkner of Germany was already designing work that merged various cultural contexts, combining new technologies with traditional craftsmanship to highlight the multifaceted beauty of the materials and draw renewed attention to small detail, when he was still a student. With his MBRACE, Sebastian is the first designer to mix teak and fiber in a single piece. Despite his young age, he is the recipient of a long list of design awards.

Stephen Burks is an American designer, but he is also a designer of the world, having collaborated with indigenous artisans and craftspeople on projects across the globe. His innovative, award-winning DALA collection introduced a new approach to outdoor furniture with a construction that unified surface and structure. With AHNDA, his latest DEDON collection, he has created a classic, iconic and luxurious lounger with an alluring vibrancy.

Inspired by the poetry of Surrealism, so rich with paradox and possibility, Philippe Starck has most recently dreamed up the luxurious RAYN exclusively for DEDON.

Born and raised in Bucharest, Daniel Pouzet is an intriguing design talent who lives in France and works worldwide. He has collaborated with Philippe Starck and Jean-Marie Massaud on large-scale architectural commissions. Daniel is also the creator of the SWINGREST and (with Fred Frety) the NESTREST, two of DEDON’s most iconic creations.

Widely referred to as the ‘king of outdoor furniture’, American-born Richard Frinier, the first major designer to work with DEDON and the father of our ORBIT collection, is credited with taking luxury and sophistication out of the home and into the garden. Richard is known for his mastery of a range of styles, from classic to contemporary.

Eugeni’s meticulous attention for detail, his uncompromising quality standards and the passion he puts into every piece match DEDON’s design philosophy perfectly. The Catalan designer has enjoyed a unique ‘cool-laboration’ with Philippe Starck, with whom he has co-signed many prestigious projects, including the PLAY WITH DEDON collection.

EN BRIXX is a comfortable, upholstered modular system for indoor and outdoor use. Its structure consists of a powder-coated steel frame encased in molded polyurethane foam, with belting for extra comfort. The core of each module is protected by a water-repellent polyester covering. The fabric is treated to be stain- and water-repellent. If not used under roof or awning, we recommend covering the modules with DEDON outdoor covers at night and during rainfall.
The fabric consists of 50% acrylic yarn and 50% recycled post-industrial acrylic yarn. Like all DEDON acrylic fabrics, those used for BRIXX are highly UV-resistant. The recycled yarn includes imperfections that give the fabric its very natural and appealing look.
The triangular and round backrests are equipped with a heavy core and anti-slip pads in order to give ideal support. The side table consists of a powder-coated aluminum top and natural teak legs.

EN The swiveling table of the DALA loveseat consists of a powder-coated aluminum post and a tabletop of cross-laminated premium teak veneer.
The DALA cushions are covered with sophisticated Batyline® fabric, produced with a special quilting technique that reflects the design of the furniture itself. For the best-matching deco-cushions, we recommend our selection of acrylic fabrics (see 'recommended deco-cushions’). As an alternative, cushions made out of our standard fabrics are available upon request.

EN The LOU collection includes two different types of coffee tables One features a base woven with DEDON Fiber and a tabletop made of Monolite Ipergres®, a frost-proof ceramic material that is nonabsorbing and highly resistant to indirect tensile stress, impacts, scratches and abrasions. The other table comes in two different shapes and four sizes, the round ones overlapping the square ones. These coffee tables feature a premium teak tabletop on a base of powder-coated stainless steel.
The LOU side table consists of powder-coated stainless steel.
The LOU tray consists of crossl-aminated teak veneer. To protect it from moisture, we recommend keeping it indoors when not in use.

EN The structure of the SEAX armchair and lounge chair is made of powder coated die-cast aluminum. The seat and back textile is a mix of PVC, acrylic and polyester. The armrest covers are made out of teakfinished plywood.
Clean the frame, seat and backrest with a soft cloth and warm water. Clean the plywood armrest covers with a damp cloth and do not apply cleaning detergents of any kind. To maintain their beautiful wood finish, the SEAX armchairs and lounge chairs with plywood armrests should be protected from moisture and kept indoors when not in use. For a low-maintenance seating alternative, choose the armchair and lounge chair without plywood armrests.

EN This frame is composed out of a powder coated, high-precision die-cast aluminum. The seat comes in two different options: the woven version which consists of a unique DEDON fiber profile, while the sling version consists of textile stretched over the aluminum frame. Both versions are easy to maintain, highly resistant to all weather conditions, quick-drying and extremely comfortable even without a cushion.

EN The WA table is available with a high-pressure laminate (HPL) top, a glass top, a stainless steel Slim Box top and a teak top. Single-layered tempered glass offers increased resistance to temperature changes as well as excellent resistance to bending, impact and shock. The Slim Box top is made out of a powdercoated stainless steel, with an internal structural reinforcement that dampens sound; its orange-peel-like surface is achieved through a special process that increases scratch resistance and tabletop durability. The teak tabletop is made of premium teak. The WA tabletop support structure consists of powder-coated aluminum profiles, while the legs consist of die-cast powder-coated aluminum. Clean the support structure and legs with a soft cloth and warm water.

EN DEDON COVERS – HANDLING AND CARE
Made with a heavy-duty 100% solution-dyed polyester material, DEDON outdoor covers are water- and UV-resistant, with outstanding durability and breathability. Because of their superior breathability, the covers reduce dampness, heat buildup and condensation, helping to prevent mold and mildew from forming on your furniture.
Tailored to fit perfectly over their corresponding products, DEDON covers feature a zipper and an elastic seam as well as loops for securing them in windy conditions. Precise placement is required.
Make sure furniture and cushions are thoroughly dry before using DEDON outdoor covers. Moisture may collect in cushions left covered over long periods, causing mold stains. For this reason, we do not recommend using DEDON covers as permanent covers for cushions.
Clean covers with a soft cloth and warm water, using a gentle upholstery cleaner if necessary. Rinse with clear water. Solvents are not suitable for cleaning the covers and may cause damage and discoloration to their surface. Never pack or fold covers that are wet; instead, let them dry in a well-ventilated area.
Hand-wash only. Do not bleach or iron the covers.

• POWDER-COATED METAL
Softly bended metal sheets, cut by laser jet, are covered with a highly resistant powder-coating, giving the tabletop unbeatable durability and outdoor performance. Clean with a soft cloth and warm water.

Consisting of beautiful slow-growth premium teak sourced from sustainable plantations, the tabletop is rich with natural tannin oils, offering great durability in extreme weather conditions. Wash using warm water in which natural soap flakes have been dissolved.

EN THE BEAUTY OF TEAK
Teak is one of the world’s most valuable timber resources. Furniture made from this teak, sourced from sustainable plantations, is rich in natural tannins and is able to withstand even extreme weather conditions over an exceptionally long lifetime. The wood is resistant to rain, strong sunlight, freezing conditions and fluctuating temperatures. These qualities make it particularly well-suited to long-term outdoor use.
Made using only premium teak, DEDON teak furniture requires no special maintenance besides periodic cleaning. If allowed to age naturally outdoors, it will eventually turn to a soft, silver-gray as surface pigments fade.
To retain the woods original, golden hue, use DEDON teak oil at least twice a year. To clean it, use a DEDON cleaning agent once or twice a year. To remove any raised grain and restore the surface to a smooth finish, lightly sand from time to time.

Our high-quality acrylic materials are UV-resistant and specially coated to make them splash-resistant, with no loss of comfort. The foam cores, created exclusively for DEDON, and synthetic fiber padding are surrounded by a water-repellent, breathable, spun-bonded wrap. After a shower of rain, allow your cushions to dry so as to protect them from mold stains. We recommend storing your cushions for the winter or when not in use for long periods, and using covers to keep them at their best. Before storing, make sure they are completely dry. Our materials meet the highest standards of quality for outdoor usage. All fabrics are quick-drying and easy to maintain.
