Contexto histórico Este libro fue escrito en la edad media por don juan manuel y fue concluido en el año 1335. En esta época la sociedad estaba formada por defensores clero y pueblo. En ella se produjeron un serie de guerras. Encuanto a la religión destaco la jerarquía eclesiástica. -SOCIEDAD La sociedad de la época estaba compuesta por

tres clases sociales principales. Tanto el clero como la nobleza gozaban de una serie de privilegios económicos, políticos y judiciales, que tras el nacimiento de la burguesía, fueron reducidos tras una serie de revoluciones originadas en Francia. DEFENSORES: eran la nobleza y los caballeros. Se encargaban de luchar contra los musulmanes. CLERO: se encargaban de transmitir la fe cristiana y de enseñar y mantener la cultura. PUEBLO: estaba unido a la nobleza mediante unos vínculos de dependencia personal. Su progresivo enriquecimiento como comerciante o artesanos introduce una nueva clase social; la burguesía


Cuento 1 Un mal rey La historia comienza cuando el conde lucanor tiene el problema de no saber si tratar a su ahijado con mano dura. Patronio le cuenta una historia a modo de consejo. La historia trata de un rey1 que muere y su hijo le sucede, pero como es muy joven tiene un filósofo que le ayuda. Pasado un tiempo, el filósofo se da cuenta de que el rey no le hace caso y no era un buen rey, entonces el filósofo le dijo que entendía a los pájaros y el rey pide una demostración. Cuando estaban con unos pájaros, el filósofo se inventó que los pájaros decían que el reino iba mal, ya que los campos estaban muy descuidados, a lo que el rey recapacitó y volvió a cuidar el reino. -El problema que tiene el conde es que no sabe si tratar con firmeza o no a su ahijado.

-Enseñanza de patroneo: no siempre hay que recurrir a la mano d ura para enseñar lecciones.

Cuento 2 soñar despierto es malo Problema: El conde no sabe si invertir en un negocio, ya que puede ser arriesgado.

Resumen:Una señora iba a vender un jarrón de miel que llevaba en la cabeza y estaba pensando qué comprar con lo que le pagaran (que si 12 huevos que se iban a convertir en gallinas, que las gallinas las iba a cambiar por un cordero, el cordero por una vaca…) y de la emoción se le cayó el jarrón y se puso a llorar. conclusión Moraleja: lo sueños son sueño No debes dar por sentado que vas a conseguir algo que supone un riesgo.

Summary:A lady was going to sell a honey vase she had on her head and was thinking what to buy with what they paid her and out of emotion he dropped the vase and started to cry. Moral conclusion: dreams are dreams You should not assume that you will get something that has a risk

cuento 3 El árbol de la verdad y la mentira -Problema: Hay gente que dice mentiras del conde para hacerle sentir mal. - Resumen: La verdad y la mentira encontraron un árbol y una se quedaría en las ramas y la otra en las raíces. La mentira le dijo a la verdad que las raíces era el mejor sitio para ella quedarse con las ramas. La verdad se lo creyó y se fue a las raíces. asado el tiempo, a la mentira le visitaban muchos humanos y la verdad estaba muy sola debajo de la tierra. A la gente no le caía bien la verdad, así que ya no le dejaban salir afuera para no morirse de hambre. La verdad tuvo que empezar a comerse las raíces. Un día el árbol sin raíces, como hacía mucho viento, se cayó encima de la verdad y sus amigos magullados y heridos huyeron y al final la gente cayó en la conclusión de que habría sido mejor haber ayudado a la verdad a cuidar las raíces.

The man who ate lupins summary: a poor man had to eat lupins because he couldn't afford any more and he felt like the most unlucky person in the world. One day he went to the mountain with his lupins and started to eat and after a while he heard a noise behind him and found a man eating the shells he was throwing away and asked him why he was doing it and he said he was too poor to buy food and then the poor man understood that there were people much more unlucky than him and he stopped being so ashamed of himself. Moral of the story: never think that you are the unluckiest, there will always be people more unlucky than you.

La golondrina y el lino Resumen:El conde Lucanor le dijo a Patronio que le parecía que unos vecinos conspiraban contra el y que podía hacer.Patronio le contó el cuento de la golondrina:esta vio que los hombres sembraban lino para después cazar pájaros y avisó al reto de pájaros pero no quisieron hacer nada.Cuando el lino creció los hombres empezaron a cazar pájaros.Las golondrinas se hicieron amigas de los hombres. Moraleja: ten en cuenta las advertencias

De la nada llega una zorra con la intención de quitárselo y empezó a hablar con el cuervo diciéndole muchos halagos. Pasado un rato, el pájaro se los creyó y cuando iba a cantar para enseñarle a la zorra lo bien que lo hacía, el queso se cayó y la zorra se lo llevó corriendo.

-Problema: El conde estaba muy contento porque le habían hecho muchos halagos y Patronio le explicó que lo hacían para conseguir algo de él Moraleja: Muchas veces la gente intenta ser simpática y agradable para conseguir algo de otra persona.


story 6 The fox and the raven Summary: The story is about a crow who finds cheese and happily climbs a tree. Out of nowhere comes a fox with the intention of taking it off and started talking to the crow saying lots of compliments. After a while, the bird believed them and when he was going to sing to show the fox how well he was doing, the cheese fell and the fox took him running. -Problem: The count was very happy because he had been flattered and Patronio explained that they did it to get something from him Moral: Many times people try to be nice and nice to get something from someone else.

cuento 7 titulo: la tela mágica Resumen: Dos de los sirvientes del rey hablaban de una tela especial que solo podía ser vista por la gente honrada y sincera y que los que no lo fuesen nunca conseguirían verla. El rey les escuchó y pidió que le hicieran un traje con ella. Los dos sirvientes lo encargaron hacer. Cuando la recogieron, ninguno la veía, pero dijeron que era hermosa. Cuando llegaron al palacio hicieron como que se la ponían al rey. El rey creyendo que iba vestido, aunque él mismo no la veía, salió a hacer un desfile. Cuando salió a la calle, la gente se fijó que iba desnudo y se echaron todos a reír y se dio cuenta de que le habían estafado

Problema: Los hijos del conde y sus amigos jugaban y corrían por el castillo molestando a todo el mundo. Moraleja: si intentas mostrar algo que no eres se acabara viendo tu verdadera forma


story 7 title: the magic fabric Summary: Two of the king’s servants spoke of a special cloth that could only be seen by honest and sincere people and that those who were not could never see it. cuento 8 Los caballos y el león

Problema: Al conde le amenaza un hombre mucho más rico y poderoso que él diciéndole que le arrebatará sus tierras. El vecino del conde tiene el mismo problema, así que le propone al conde unir fuerzas, pero el conde duda de él porque hace no mucho eran grandes enemigos.

Resumen: Había dos caballeros pobres que compraron una casa juntos porque no podían pagar una por separado.Tenían dos caballos los cuales se odiaban. Siempre se estaban peleando, hasta que un día sus dueños no aguantaron más y los vendieron a un rey moro que los metió en su foso con todos los demás animales entre los cuales se encontraba un león cuyos platos preferidos eran los asnos, mulos y caballos. El león estaba dormido mientras los dos caballos se estaban peleando. Al final, despertaron al león, el cual los vio y se alegró de que tendría comida para mucho tiempo y ni siquiera tendría que cazarlos porque se acabarían matando ellos solos.Tal fue la alegría del león, que rugió. Los dos caballos le escucharon y decidieron unir fuerzas para luchar contra él. Al final, el león se fue aterrorizado y los dos caballos se hicieron grandes amigos.

Moraleja: Tus enemigos se pueden convertir en tus amigos, si tenéis un enemigo común.


story 8 The horses and the lion

Problem: The count is threatened by a man much richer and more powerful than him. The count’s neighbor has the same problem, so he proposes to the count to join forces, but the count doubts him because not long ago they were great enemies.

Summary: There were two poor gentlemen who bought a house together because they couldn’t afford one separately. They had two horses who hated each other. They were always fighting, until one day their owners couldn’t take it anymore and sold them to a Moorish king who put them in his moat with all the other animals among whom was a lion whose favorite dishes were donkeys, mules and horses. The lion was asleep while the two horses were fighting. In the end, they woke up the lion, who saw them and was glad that he would have food for a long time and would not even have to hunt them down because they would kill themselves.Such was the lion’s joy, which roared. The two horses listened to him and decided to join forces to fight him. In the end, the lion was terrified and the two horses became great friends.

cuento 9 El ciego confiado Problema: El hijo del conde confiaba demasiado en sus amigos. Resumen: Había un hombre que perdió la vista y además el dinero y no tenía para comer y le daba vergüenza ir a pedir dinero en su ciudad, ya que además eran todos muy tacaños. Un día otro ciego fue a hablar con él y le propuso que fueran juntos a la ciudad de al lado en la que todos eran muy generosos y podrían mendigar sin reparo. El primer ciego le dijo al otro que el camino era muy peligroso y el segundo ciego respondió que se lo sabia muy bien, aunque no iba desde antes de perder la vista El primer ciego se negó , ya que era muy peligroso y el segundo ciego le dijo que no les pasaría nada. El primer ciego terminó aceptando y partieron rumbo a la otra ciudad y al cabo del tiempo cayeron en un pozo.

Moraleja:No confíes demasiado en todo el mundo sobre asuntos que suponen un riesgo para ti.

Problem: The count’s son trusted his friends too much. cuento 10 Un padre, su hijo y el asno ● Problema: El conde no sabe dónde poner el puente porque si lo ponía en un sitio habría alguien a quien no le parecería bien, y lo pusiera donde lo pusiera siempre habría alguien descontento. ● Resumen : Había un hombre que iba con su hijo al mercado e iban con su asno y al lado pasaron dos hombres y decían que qué bobos eran que no iba óo el hijo. Al cabo del tiempo, se encontraron con otros dos hombres que dijeron que por qué iba el hijo montado y no el padre que era viejo y se bajó el hijo y subió el padre y más tarde dos personas dijeron que por qué el hijo que era un niño pequeño iba andando y el padre que aun era joven ba en el asno. Al final decidieron hacer lo que ellos creyeran conveniente sin pensar en lo que opinarían los demás. ● Moraleja: Cuando hagas algo siempre alguien estará descontento, por lo tanto, reflexiona y haz lo que tú creas oportuno.

cuento 11 Las piedras y el río Problema: Una de las señoras del castillo no se decidía si casarse con un hombre rico u otro pobre pero bondadoso. Resumen: Había un hombre que tenía una bolsa llena de piedras preciosas que le harían rico y, aunque pesaba mucho la bolsa, siempre la llevaba con mucha alegría. Una vez iba con la bolsa y tenía que pasar un río. Lo comenzó a pasar y poco a poco se iba hundiendo. En la orilla un joven le decía que parara, pero el hombre no las quería soltar y se acabó hundiendo. Moraleja: La riqueza no lo arregla todo.

De repente al fallecido se le abrió el pecho y se vio que no tenía corazón. anto Domingo dijo que el corazón se hallaba donde las riquezas del mercader estaban y fueron a su casa a ver y el corazón estaba en el cofre con sus riquezas. ● Moraleja: el dinero no lo es todo y no se solucionan todos los problemas con él.

Problema: Había un perro cerca de donde jugaban los niños y el perro se acercó y empezó a jugar y a hacer trucos con los que los niños se quedaban asombrados y una niña decidió darle un pan. En cuanto le dio el pan, el perro se fue a un rincón a comerlo y dejó de hacerle caso a los niños, incluso gruñía si se acercaban.Cuando acabó el pan fue con los niños a intentar jugar otra vez. Al principio no le hicieron caso, pero luego empezaron a jugar otra vez. El conde se pregunta si el perro hace mal al actuar por conveniencia. Resumen: Un pobre hombre hambriento pasó por la puerta de un conocido y vio que estaba comiendo en su portal y le dijo que buen provecho,a lo que le preguntó si quería comer con él hombre hambriento dijo que sí añadiendo que solo aceptaba porque él se lo había pedido con amabilidad y le parecería una falta de respeto decirle que no. Su amigo iba a añadir algo, pero el hombre hambriento le interrumpió diciendo no hacía falta que dijera nada y se sentó a comer. Moraleja: No es malo que la gente haga lo que sea por no pasar hambre.


story 13 The hungry man

Problem: There was a dog near where the children were playing and the dog came over and started playing and doing tricks that the children were amazed with and one girl decided to give him a loaf of bread. As soon as she gave him the bread, the dog went to a corner to eat it and stopped paying attention to the children, he even growled if they approached him, and when he finished the bread he went with the children to try to play again. Moral: It's not wrong for people to do anything to keep from going hungry.


cuento 14 El rey soberbio

Resumen: había un rey cristiano muy soberbio al que dios castigo porque cambio un cántico de la virgen que humillaba a los humildes. Para castigarlo dios mando un angel que se hizo pasar por el rey y al verdadero lo tomaron por mendigo y loco ya que le dieron ropa vieja y gastada. Dios hizo que se arrepintiera de verdad de haber sido orgulloso y no de haber perdido su reino. Al final dios le devolvio su reino porque el rey soberbio se convirtio en humilde Moraleja: siendo poderoso es mejor se humilde que soberbio, pero no humillado


story 14 The superb king

Summary: there was a very proud Christian king that god punished for it because he changed a song of the virgin that humiliated the humble to punish him god sent an angel who pretended to be the king and the real one was taken for a beggar and crazy because they gave him old and worn out clothes. God made him truly repent for having been proud and not for having lost his kingdom. In the end God gave him back his kingdom because the proud king became humble. Moral: being powerful it is better to be humble but not humiliated.
