Carrie Stuart Honored with Keystone Award for Chamber Leadership We are thrilled to share that President Carrie Stuart has been recognized with the Keystone Award, one of the highest honors awarded to a Chamber of Commerce executive in Pennsylvania. The award was presented by the Pennsylvania Association of Chamber Professionals (PACP) during the 2025 PACP Chamber Professionals & Leadership Conference at Seven Springs Mountain Resort. Established in 1963, the Keystone Award is presented only when a chamber professional has made a truly extraordinary impact on the profession. With just 32 recipients in more than 60 years, this recognition celebrates leaders who go above and beyond in service, innovation, and dedication. Carrie now joins this small and impressive group of professionals from across the Commonwealth. “I’m not sure I can put into words what it means to have received this award. To be recognized by your peers is very humbling and such an honor,” Carrie said. “There are so many great chamber professionals that I look up to and seek advice and guidance from and I’ve never considered myself to be at their level…I still don’t!” Carrie’s journey with the Chamber began nearly 28 years ago in a role she never expected would turn into a career. She joined the organization as a temporary employee, originally hired to help keep things running while a permanent office manager was sought. What began as answering phones and managing the membership database quickly grew into something much more. Carrie found joy in connecting with members, supporting committees, and contributing to meaningful projects like the Adams County map and membership directory. As her confidence and experience grew, so did her responsibilities. Through a period of organizational restructuring, Carrie stepped into the role of Membership Director. When longtime President Margaret “Peg” Weaver retired, Carrie took a leap of faith and put her name forward for the position. “While there have been challenging times over the years—with a growing family, increased responsibilities, and changing economic conditions—I can’t imagine doing anything else,” Carrie shared. “I love this community, supporting the business community, and 6 | ADAMS COUNTY BUSINESS
working with so many great people.” In addition to her leadership at home, Carrie has made a meaningful impact across Pennsylvania through her service on the PACP Board of Directors, including time on the executive committee and as board chair. She is known among her peers not only for her thoughtful leadership, but also for her willingness to mentor others and lift the chamber profession as a whole. “Carrie’s dedication to this organization and to this community has made Adams County a compelling place to do business,” said Bryan Johnson, Chairman of the Board of The Chamber of Gettysburg & Adams County. “Her vision, creativity, and genuine care for people have strengthened our local economy, and the positive effects of her leadership will be felt for many years to come.” Throughout her tenure, Carrie has helped guide initiatives that continue to make a difference for local businesses and the broader Adams County community. She credits the Chamber’s success to the collective effort of its volunteers, committees, board members, and staff, along with the education and support provided through PACP. “I was fortunate to step into a strong organization with a solid foundation,” Carrie said. “We’ve been able to build on that by creating programs like County Connections and a strong Ambassador Program that focuses on meeting business professionals where they are in their journey.” Looking ahead, Carrie remains excited about what’s next for the Chamber and the community it serves. “There isn’t one specific thing I’m looking forward to,” she said. “I’m excited to see where our organization can go next. With creativity and talent in this community, there’s so much potential ahead.” The Chamber is honored to celebrate Carrie’s achievement and deeply grateful for her passion, leadership, and unwavering commitment to the Gettysburg and Adams County business community. Past sessions have covered subjects like cell phone photography skills, HR best practices, and small business marketing tips. Lunch n’ Learns are intentionally small, with no more than 15 attendees, creating a comfortable setting for conversation, questions, and one-on-one learning. Sessions typically run 30–45 minutes over the lunch hour and are held at the Chamber office. A DVOC ACY UPDATES THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING ME TO SERVE REPRESENTATIVE TORREN ECKER As I prepare to transition from my role in state legislature, I want to express my deep gratitude to the Adams County business community and Chamber for their partnership over the years. Serving as state representative has been the honor of a lifetime, and I’ve been proud to advocate for pro-growth policies, workforce development and commonsense regulations that support our local employers and entrepreneurs. From championing career and technical education to cutting red tape for small businesses, I’ve worked hard to be a voice for our region’s economic vitality. I’m especially grateful for the relationships we’ve built across industries, local governments and nonprofits. While I’m stepping into a new role on the bench, I’ll remain committed to public service and to the community that raised me. Thank you for your trust, collaboration and for always putting Adams County first.
UPDATES FOR LOW-INCOME FAMILIES, SENIOR CITIZENS, AND JOB SEEKERS REPRESENTATIVE DAN MOUL Earlier this year, I supported legislation, that is now law, which will protect thousands of Pennsylvania seniors from losing access to affordable prescription drug coverage when the Social Security cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) increases their income. Act 49 of 2025 extends the current Social Security COLA moratorium for the PACE and PACENET programs through Dec. 31, 2027. Pennsylvania’s low-income residents who struggle with their home heating bills can now apply for assistance from the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). This federally funded program helps individuals and families pay their heating bills through home heating energy assistance grants. It also provides crisis grants in emergencies or if a resident is in danger of losing their heat due to broken equipment, lack of fuel or termination of utility service. To determine if you qualify and to apply, visit www.dhs.pa.gov/COMPASS; or call 1-866-857-7095. You may also contact the Adams County Assistance Office 717-334-6241. The program runs through April 2026.

Brown, having fulfilled three terms as a director before taking a brief hiatus as required by the Chamber’s by-laws, previously served as Chair and Vice Chair. She currently serves on numerous Chamber committees including Governmental Affairs, Wine Festival, Holiday Jackpot Raffle, and as a board member for the Adams County Economic Education Foundation. Darlene’s community involvement also includes serving on the board of the Gettysburg Borough Zoning Hearing Board. Along with her children she enjoys summers at the beach where she also serves on the Board of Directors for her condo association in Ocean City, Maryland. Jenni Holt, Assistant Vice President and Branch Manager with M & T Bank, is an active Chamber Ambassador who volunteers at the Gettysburg Wine & Music Festival and Membership Appreciation Picnic. She’s a familiar face at Chamber programs like County Connections and Membership Mixers, where she enjoys building strong business relationships. With more than 25 years in the banking industry, Jenni has helped welcome and support businesses, contributing to a diverse and thriving economic landscape in Gettysburg and Adams County. She values the Chamber’s impact on the community and is eager to serve on the Board of Directors to further support its mission. Outside of work, Jenni enjoys spending time with her husband and four kids and loves the beach. John Husser is Vice President and Commercial Lender at ACNB Bank. He is currently the Vice Chair and serving on the Executive Committee for The Chamber. He has been actively involved in the Chamber’s annual golf tournament, the Gettysburg Wine & Music Festival and attending membership mixers and County Connections programs. John has served on the Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and is a current member of the New Oxford Chamber of Commerce, the Builders Association of Adams County, as well as York Builders Association. He is excited for the opportunity to build stronger relationships with chamber members and is committed to assisting in the growth and prosperity in Adams County. John resides in York, PA with his wife Tiffany and their two boys Luke and Chase. In his spare time, John coaches youth basketball in Spring Grove and enjoys watching his sons compete in various sports. Winters in Gettysburg can be harsh and unpredictable. Minimize stress by getting prepared now. Here are some essential tips to help you get ahead of the cold and stay safe all season long.

Make sure yours is in working order and store extra fuel safely. If you don’t have one yet, now is the time to get one before they are in short supply.
