EDITOR’S LETTER
M M
MANDI MARTIN Owner-Editor
There are seasons in life that feel like turning points, even if the calendar doesn’t mark them as such. Lately, I’ve found myself standing in one of those quiet thresholds. One where endings and beginnings overlap, where joy and uncertainty sit side by side, and where meaning isn’t something you search for so much as something you choose to create.
Over the past few months, life has unfolded in ways both ordinary and extraordinary. My son is graduating high school this year. It's a milestone that feels as much like a beginning as it does an ending. As I watch him step forward into his own life, in doing so, I feel the subtle shift in mine. Our family also recently welcomed a beautiful new nephew into the world. He is nothing short of a tiny, perfect reminder that life is always renewing itself, always offering fresh hope wrapped in small, miraculous moments.
And then there are the spaces in between. The ones we don’t always celebrate, but yet they quietly shape us. Afternoons spent playing pickleball, laughing harder than expected, feeling that simple, childlike joy that sneaks up on you right in the middle of a week. The highs that lift us and the lows that ground us. The routines, the pauses, and all of the questions we carry.
It’s easy to think that purpose reveals itself only in the big moments... the graduations, the births, the milestones. But more often, purpose is found in how we show up to the in-between. In the way we choose to be present, even when life feels uncertain. In the way we hold gratitude and grief in the same breath.
There’s a quote by Mary Oliver that states, “Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” It’s a question that doesn’t demand a grand answer, but rather an honest one. Not someday, but today. Not perfectly, but intentionally.
Because the truth is, we are always choosing, whether we realize it or not. We choose how we respond to change. We choose where we place our attention. We choose whether to rush past the small moments or let them shape us.
This season has reminded me that a meaningful life isn’t built in leaps, but in layers. It’s built in conversations at the kitchen table, in cheers from the sidelines, in quiet reflections at the end of the day on the back porch watching a sunset. It’s built in showing up — again and again — with curiosity, with courage, and with care.
So wherever you find yourself right now, whether in a moment of celebration, transition, or somewhere in the beautifully messy middle, I hope you give yourself permission to live it fully. To notice what matters. To hold close what brings you joy. To trust that even the uncertain parts are leading you somewhere meaningful.
Life rarely unfolds in a straight line. But perhaps that’s the point. The richness is in the weaving — in the highs and lows, the beginnings and endings.
And maybe that’s the quiet invitation before us: not to wait for life to feel meaningful, but to meet it with intention, exactly as it is.
