On 23rd August 2024, Genotypic Technology made waves at the Global Centre of Excellence on Millets (Shree Anna), ICAR - India Institute of Millets Research, Hyderabad, with a hands-on workshop that showcased the game-changing potential of long-read sequencing in plant genomics.
Led by Mr. Terence, Field Application Scientist from Genotypic Technology, the workshop provided participants with invaluable insights into how the long-read sequencing are redefining the landscape of plant genome research The session was not just theoretical but highly practical, enabling participants to directly engage with the technology
A key highlight was the live demonstration using the PromethION 24 from Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT). Participants ran their own plant samples through the system and the results were nothing short of impressive. With up to 130 GB of data generated, attendees witnessed firsthand the power of highthroughput sequencing in delivering robust, high-quality genomic data. This experience was pivotal in illustrating how this technology can streamline research workflows, accelerate discoveries and drive innovation in plant genomics
