Recent estimates show that there are only about 6.5 million sea turtles left in the wild.
While there are many reasons for their declining population, one of the leading causes is plastic pollution, which kills over a million marine animals each year.

They help keep seagrass and jellyfish levels regulated, they redistribute sand through their egg-laying, and they transport vital nutrients across vast distances when they migrate.
Should we allow sea turtles to go extinct, the consequences could be catastrophic.
The jellyfish population would explode, resulting in the decimation of bio-diverse seagrass meadows and the collapse of fisheries. Plus, nutrient cycling would cease happening.
