PROFITABLE BALANCED BREEDING, SUPERIOR IN FUNCTION
We would like to personally invite you to our 16th Annual Production Sale.
We truly appreciate your interest in and continued support of our program. We understand that you have many choices when it comes to purchasing genetics to advance your herd, but we believe our slogan says it best: “Profitable Balanced Breeding, Superior in Function.”
Our genetics are developed in a real-world ranch environment. Every animal in this sale offering was bred, born, and raised right here. The bulls are developed in a 30-acre, snow-covered pasture after weaning and are fed no more than 7 pounds of grain per head per day along with long-stem grass/alfalfa mix hay, salt, and mineral. They run together in one contemporary group and are PAP tested here at the ranch at 5,650 feet elevation.
We pride ourselves on being true breeders—providing our customers with a reliable, affordable, and durable product. Your success is our satisfaction and the reward for the work we put into this program. We do not hire outside crews to prepare our cattle. Everything is done here by our family and a few friends on busy days. We feed, clip, calve, AI, photograph, and video our cattle ourselves because we believe knowing our herd inside and out matters.
Our outcross breeding program is built on a practical ranch budget. We focus on long-term dedication to building a superior cow herd rather than chasing trends, popularity, or inflated numbers. Our experience has shown that highnumbered cattle do not always translate into real-world performance, and we breed accordingly.
Our entire cow herd is located in close proximity to the sale facility and is available for viewing at any time. The sale offering will be penned for your convenience, and we are happy to visit with you and offer insight on each lot.
These bulls have not been pushed or over-fattened. They are developed to gain and grow at a responsible rate with an emphasis on structural soundness, hoof quality, fertility, and longevity. They are moderate birth, stout, muscular bulls with strong libido and true beef bull character.
Please join us for a truly unique offering from a breeder herd—not a duplicator herd. We dare to be different and are committed to offering you a better product for your hardearned dollars.
Please join us for a smoked brisket lunch that will be served from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm on sale day.
30 miles East of I-15 on Hwy 30. Do not take the Bancroft turn off. Go to the intersection of Hwy 30 and Hwy 34 (Grace turnoff) turn North onto Old Hwy 30 (frontage road) continue West for 2 miles. Then turn right onto Ivins Road, cross railroad tracks, then 4 miles to the ranch.

FLECKANGUS
LOTS 1-20, 25-30, 35-44
Our prefix with the Simmental Association began in 1983 with JB, then JBD, and on to the current VE. We have been breeding SimAngus cattle for many years. Our experience tells us the most successful SimAngus are these that have the Fleckvieh influence in them. Hence the FleckAngus cattle are the mainstay of our breeding program. They are superior in maternal weaning weight, fertility, yield and muscle mass, fleshing ability and durability. Our focus will remain to offer these FleckAngus bulls in volume, unlike those available elsewhere.

ANGUS
LOTS 21-24
Our Angus cowherd has always been important to us and the striving for excellence in this group is certainly taking shape. We have found our own gene pool to work well at elevation, and they are truly foundation kind. We breed for modest size, udder and teat quality, along with excellent feet. We have steered clear of any genetic defects and have never chased inflated EPD’s. We will not accept bad actors in our program or hard doing cattle.

FLECKVIEH
LOTS 45-52
Our nucleus herd of Fleckvieh are being developed in the same rugged conditions of the West that the rest of our herd experiences. We strive for moderate framed, easy fleshing, brilliant uddered females to produce 100% Fullblood Fleckvieh bulls and females at our production sale. We produce non-diluters so there is no chance of getting grey or yellow calves. In our experience the Fleckvieh cattle will have the lowest PAP scores and thrive in higher elevations. These cattle have great fertility and mothering ability and excel in longevity. The Fleckvieh breed is known to be free of all genetic defects and offer incredible heterosis.

EPD & INDEX DEFINITIONS
CE Reported as the difference in percentage of calves being born unassisted out of first-calf heifers, with higher values representing greater calving ease.
BW Reported as the difference in pounds of calf birth weight.

YW Reported as the difference in pounds of progeny yearling weight.
MCE Reported as the difference in percentage of daughters calving unassisted as first-calf heifers.
MILK Reported as the difference in maternal pounds of weaning weight from an individual’s daughters due to milk.
DOC Reported as the difference in yearling-age progeny temperament, represented as a difference in probability that progeny will be scored as a 1, rather than a 2–6 on the docility scale (1 = docile disposition; 6 = extremely aggressive).
YG Reported as the difference in progeny USDA Yield Grade score units (1–5).
MARB Reported as the difference in progeny carcass marbling score.
BF Reported as the difference in inches of external backfat at the 12th and 13th rib.

TABLE FOR CALCULATING PERCENT SIMMENTAL
The Simmental percentage is determined from registered percent of the parents. Rounding may cause other breeds percentage to vary from the chart.
TOTAL HERD ENROLLMENT (THE)
We tested specific lots for homozygous polled, homozygous black, sire verified and GGP 100K. Each lot has been identified. They will include genomic enhanced EPD’s to increase their accuracy. We only tested the bulls in question, if they were heterozygous polled or black by pedigree, they were not automatically included in the DNA. The bulls were not scrutinized by rank only status. Please call Dirk with any questions.
We are proud participants of the American Simmental Association’s Total Herd Enrollment (THE) program. THE enhances the impact and utility of our data submitted for genetic evaluation, which in turn improves the EPD accuracy across our whole operation. By submitting data on our dams and entire calf crops, more accurate genetic predictions are received by us and our customers.
