GenAPA: Lucid 2026 Program

Page 1

Generation APA (Asian Pacific American), founded in 1995, hosts our annual cultural show. Our board currently consists of 14 members, working together to present the largest student run Pan-Asian cultural show in the Midwest. We strive to increase awareness of identities and cultures at the University of Michigan while highlighting the multifaceted talents of students.

“Lucid,” captures the essence of awareness and intentionality in art and expression. To be lucid is to see clearly and understand the layers of history, emotion, and identity that shape creativity within the A/PIA community. The show invites performers and audiences alike to reflect on what it means to create art in a world that often oversimplifies or stereotypes their stories. Through our show, we aim to celebrate cultural heritage while empowering students to define their own identity.

Bixby is a Los Angeles–based singer, songwriter, and producer blending shimmering alt-pop, soaring falsettos, and emotionally charged hooks. His breakout single endlessly caught the attention of Dylan Brady of 100 gecs, leading to the release of his 2023 EP are you sleeping alone again? – a collection of sticky alt-pop anthems and intimate ballads – on Brady’s Atlantic Records imprint Dog Show.

In 2024, Bixby released Distance, a euphoric summer track with a Power Rangers–inspired music video. The song became his fastest-growing release, topping a million streams in its first month and reaching #34 on Japan’s Shazam chart. He followed up with Desire (produced by Dylan Brady) and Darling He Lied (featuring Starfall) - a viral breakup ballad that sparked tens of thousands of TikTok videos across Southeast Asia.

Following a pair of elevated R&B bangers with longtime collaborator Joshwa (whyy, you know) in 2025, Bixby began rolling out his most fully realized music yet. After crushing his debut performance at 88rising’s Head in the Clouds and a tour in Asia, Bixby released Feel It on in early 2026 - the first single off his long awaited debut album. He will embark on a headline The Marvel of the Century tour Summer 2026.

The National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to advancing justice for low-income immigrants through direct legal representation, consultations, and policy advocacy. Serving individuals and families at or below 200% of the federal poverty line, NIJC works to ensure access to critical forms of immigration relief while actively challenging systemic inequities within the legal system. Their work not only supports those navigating complex and often unjust processes, but also pushes toward a more accountable, humane, and equitable framework for immigration in the United States

This year, GenAPA chose to support NIJC because when systems like ICE continue to detain, separate, and criminalize immigrant communities, it is critical to stand behind organizations actively working to defend and protect those most affected. These issues deeply impact AAPI communities as well, many of whom are immigrants or come from immigrant families, and continue to face legal, social, and systemic barriers. Through this partnership, we aim to raise awareness and take a clear stance against these injustices, amplify immigrant voices, and support efforts pushing toward a more humane and accountable immigration system.
