Staff Report Geauga County Treasurer Christopher P. Hitchcock has extended the due date for second-half 2025 real estate tax bills to Aug. 4, citing delays tied to state-level adjustments. Hitchcock said the Ohio Department of Taxation granted permission for the extension after updates related to House Bill 186 and inflation cap credit adjustments delayed delivery of the second-half tax figures to the county. "Taxpayers deserve to be given as much notice as possible to plan payment of one of the largest bills they receive every year, their real estate tax bill," Hitchcock said. "As the tax bill mailing depends on numerous factors outside our control, I have asked the Ohio Department of Taxation and received permission to extend the tax collection due date to August 4, 2026." Hitchcock said he chose to act early rather than risk a late change affecting taxpayers. "Last minute changes when such large amounts of money are involved just aren't fair, so I decided to act now rather than later," he said. Amended tax bills will be sent to the printer and mailed within the next 20 days, according to a June 24 press release from the treasurer's office. Taxpayers who do not want to wait for their bill by mail can access duplicate bills online at www.geaugatax.com or by calling or visiting the Treasurer's Office. Payments may be made by cash, money order, check or credit card. Credit card payments can be made by phone at 1-855-782-3909 or online at www.geaugatax.com. A convenience fee applies to credit card transactions. Taxpayers unable to pay their bill in full are reminded that payment assistance programs are available. For more information, call the Geauga County Treasurer's Office at 440-279-2000.

Cardinal sophomore Mason Thistlethwaite took 7th in State Championship in Columbus in 100 meter. On June 22nd he ran at The Adidas Nationals in Greensboro, NC and placed 76th out of 418 runners from across the country.

The Cardinal Huskies Track and Field Team had a great Spring season. Led by Mason Thistlethwaite, Olivia Krebs, and the 4 x 100m Boys Relay Team (Tor Eastlake, Joey Komandt, Joshua Miller and Thistlethwaite), five Huskies athletes competed at the OHSAA Div. V Track and Field State Championships on June 4 and 5 at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on the campus of Ohio State University. In reflecting upon this excellent season which saw the Huskies compete both at the state and national level, Thistlethwaite said that the season was amazing. “(As the season continued) I

put more hard work into it,” Thistlethwaite said. “I set long term goals, which led me to being a three time District champ (100m, 200m, and Long Jump). So that gave me a lot of confidence going into Regionals.” In fact, at the OHSAA District Meet at Grand Valley High School from May 21 to May 23, Thistlethwaite's jump of 21 feet, 3 inches broke Rich Pelmonter's school record which had stood for 66 years. In addition, both Thistlethwaite (22.43) and Miller (22.47) broke the Cardinal school record in the 200m and qualified for the Adidas National Tournament. After winning the 100m, 200m, and Long jump at Districts, Thistlethwaite finished second See Track • Page 5
