West Geauga’s Miles Baker had 29 carries for 195 yards and two touchdowns in the team’s 35-21 playoff loss to the Streetsboro Rockets Oct. 31 at Quinn Field.
The Wolverines returned to the OHSAA playoffs for the first time since 2021 as they traveled to Quinn Field in Portage County to take on the Streetsboro Rockets on Oct. 31. Although the Rockets defeated the Wolverines, 35-21, the contest was not decided until late in the fourth quarter. Using a powerful running game which featured senior running back Miles Baker, the Wolverines dominated time of possession as their long offensive drives helped them battle to a 21-21 tie after 3 quarters. However, the Rockets took an
early fourth quarter lead on a 14yard touchdown run by junior running back Marcus Council as they went up 28-21 with 11:24 left in regulation. On the Wolverines ensuing possession, just when it looked like the Wolverines would continue to drive down the field for a game-tying touchdown using a dominant run game, they attempted a long pass down the right sideline. As the ball was in the air, Rockets senior cornerback Manny Gibson was able to get inside position on the Wolverines receiver and then made a spectacular diving interception at the Wolverines 20yard line.
