Why… it’s the right thing to do. There is till time to get some stocking stuffers.. As I write this, there are about 17 days until Christmas. That says about 16 or so shopping days left until those presents need to be under the tree or in the stockings.
With what's going on in our world today, a lot of small businesses are having a rough time. Sales are the lifeblood of any business. We have felt it here at the GEARHEAD GAZZETTE too. More than a few small businesses have had to close their doors because they didn't have enough business to stay open.
The Saturday after BLACK FRIDAY is always considered as SHOP SMALL and SHOP LOCAL day across the USA. I think that’s a good thing.
Our “hot rod” business community has been hit hard too. Most of these businesses are “mom & pop” small businesses. In normal times they do ok. In 2020 they are struggling to keep the lights on.
I would offer up though that we should all look to small businesses and local businesses more often. Why… it’s the right thing to do. In many cases these small businesses are folks in our neighborhood or maybe our friends too.
As you look for that little something extra for the gearhead friend or family matter, BUY SMALL BUSINESS. That shirt, hat, decal or part will help them keep going. You may pay a little more but it will be worth it...trust me. We need these folks in business for the long haul...help them out...give them some Christmas Cheer!
Sure it’s easier ...sometimes to order on-line from the BIG guys (you know who I means) and have the 1800 deliver it to your door directly. Then you don’t have to get out of your jammies to get some shopping done. I will admit that I do this too for some things...not all.

Our friends @revoltsystems dropped off their test mule 65 Mustang to get mini tubs, 16 Tesla batteries mounted, electric motor mounted, 8 point cage and many extras. This is going to be a very unique EV build and definitely looking forward to getting started on it. Their new motor puts out roughly 850 ftlbs of torque so this Mustang should be a beast!

In this crazy year we have all been expericing, having any kind of gearhead fun has been challenging to say the least. Car shows of all sizes were being cancelled or re-schedules, causing all of us to wonder if we would have very much hot rod fun in 2020.
One group of dedicated street rodders in the Middle Tennessee region decided to move forward and plan their annual event. These are DEDICATED street rodders. They have been doing this for more then a little while. These are the MIDNIGHT RODDERS!
For the past 30 years they have held their annual Fall Color Cruise. Covid be damned...this year made #31 for the FALL COLOR Cruise. 28

Now just to set the record straight...social distancing and mask wearing was the order of the day. Also all the participants maintained at lest 10ft between the cars too! The Fall Color Cruiser is just that‌. A Cruise. Gearheads DROVE their cool rides on about a 100 mile journey thru some of the prettiest country and two lane roads in Middle Tennessee. The run is free...no trophies are given out...and you have to pack a lunch with you. The morning of the cruise started out in Hermitage Tennessee with some coffee, donuts and a whole lot of friendship and fellowship. Slight chill in the air until midmorning when we stopped for a break in Watertown Tennessee. The good folks in Watertown had no idea what was going on, except they saw some very cool cars and trucks parked in one place. After a nice break, everyone took off and headed out to the final destination for lunch.

After more seat time rolling down the two lane roads, the cruise pulled in the final stop at Smithson Speed & Engineering in Murfreesboro Tennessee. Ben was gracious enough to open up his shop and property for everyone to park and have more hot rod fun together. After everyone stretched their legs, enjoyed lunch and checked out the Smithson shop it was time to head out one more time for home. This is one of the BEST events in the Middle Tennessee and Mid-South regions of the USA. The MIDNIGHT RODDERS know how to have hot rod fun. I am not a kid, as I have been building street rods for a number of years. This rod has a boxed frame that has been extended about 30 inches in length. It goes all the way back to the tailgate. Regular cab size. it has a 4.3 Chev Vortex motor, 700R4 tranny, a S-10 rearend (3.08 gears). 4 bar system front & back suspension, coil over shocks in the rear. 4 inch dropped front axle with 2 inch dropped spindles. Unistear steering (rack & pinion). GM column, Ron Frances wiring, bear claw latches in the door closure, Dolphin dash gauges. Black vinyl bucket seats, tilt GM column, Rides and drives excellent.
