If you have the day off and hopefully a LONG weekend go out and enjoy it and the fruits of your labor all year long. We know that there are many who will be on duty over the weekend and on Labor Day itself. Our Country’s Military will be on post wherever that are stationed, protecting us. Our FIRST RESPONDERS, Fire, Police, EMS, 911 and Hospital staff’s don’t get the day off. Thank you!

This coming weekend, our country celebrates working men and women with the Labor Day Holiday. The holiday is looked on as the un-official end of summer, even though the calendar says it’s still summer until September 21st.

Put your tools down and go jump in that cool ride of yours or get in with a friend in theirs and go have a whole lot of gearhead fun this weekend. The grass, yardwork, whatever is waiting to be done will be there on Tuesday. Use the day and weekend for what it is for...CELEBRATING what you do all year long for work and a paycheck. From me to you...thank you for what you do...Happy Labor Day.

Labor day is a creation of the labor movement in our country, dedicated to the achievements of American workers. The first Labor Day celebration took place in New Your City in 1882. As years went by, the Labor Day holiday took shape across the growing United states. It was a day to recognize the labor movement in our country with celebrations, parties, festivities and parades.

If you have not heard yet, Advanced Plating in Nashville TN has fallen victim to a fire. Here is info from Steve Tracy, owner of Advanced Plating: At this time the cause of the fire is not known, but we do know that half of our facility is a total loss. However, if you follow Advanced Plating, you know that we are no strangers to disasters. We have survived a fire before, as well as the horrific flood of 2010. While it will be a difficult and long road to come back from this, rest assured that we will bounce back, we will rebuild, and we will be back stronger than ever. If disaster has taught us anything over the years, it is that we are resilient and have an amazing support group. Now, communication will be down for awhile as you might have guessed, but please be patient as we access the contents of the building and work to collect and assemble all of the customers parts and pieces. At this point it will be tough to say that we can account for everything, as this happened with zero warning, but we will do everything we can to take care of our customer base. We greatly appreciate everyoneâ€™s support and prayers as we sort everything out. As soon as contact is restored, we will let everyone know how we can be reached. Steve and his team of 110 employees will be back of that we are sure of. We would ask that you join us in keeping them in your thoughts and prayers to help them get thru this difficult situation, and we know they will. As updates become available we will pass the info along.

We want to give a BIG SHOUT OUT and CONGRATULATIONS to our friend Bill Akin on winning his 3rd TONY HULMAN AWARD at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance last weekend.

Bill, who calls Nashville TN area home, is one of a very few people who is recognized as the “go to” guy for Offy Motors and Indy cars like he owns and has restored. In the words of David Steele, director of the American Hot Rod Foundation (AHRF) “Seeing and hearing Bill Akins’ beautiful and perfectly tuned Offy powered Indy Roadster going across the boards at Pebble Beach to receive the Tony Hulman award for “Best Indy Car” put a smile on our face and then some! A magnificent restoration by a guy who knows more about these cars than anyone else we know. Thanks to Bill for keeping these cars in front of a new generation and for having them in such a great state of tune! “ We couldn’t agree more! Bill is a hard core hot rodder at heart and has been his whole life. While Indy Cars are his passion, if you are ever in the Nashville Area and see a non-descript Plymouth Valiant kinda of a tan color….be wary as that bad boy has some HP under the hood.

AUG 2018 AUG 30-SEPT 2: DEARBORN MI: 1ST MIDWEST NOSTALGIA DAYS: Located at Edward Hotel and Convention Center, 600 Town Center Dr. This is a mix of cars, music and memories from the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. The first of its kind in the metro Detroit area, we have brought together some of the finest bands that highlight the peak of

the decades they represent in addition to indoor karaoke. Vintage style pool party with music! In addition to the rockin tunes, we have gathered hundreds of classic cars and hot rods in the area to create a unique experience. Car Registration: any car or truck 1979 & earlier can be pre-registered in advance. All registered vehicles for the weekend pass will get a numbered parking spot so you can leave and not worry about your parking spot. One and two day participant parking is on a first serve basis. Holding parking spots with chains or chairs are not allowed. Registration prices: 1 day is $40 and includes one wristband. Your parking spot is not reserved. 2 day registration is $80 and includes tow wristbands. Parking is not re-

served. Weekend pass registration is $100 which is good for 3-4 day parking. It includes two wristbands and a reserved parking spot. The weekend pass also enables you to reserve the same spot for next year’s event. Participants who are transporting their vehicle on a trailer will pay a small extra fee. Sorry no refunds for advance registration or on the day of registration. General admission ticket prices: Adult 1 day--$30, Adult 2 day--$50, Adult Weekend pass--$60, Junior 13 to 17 year old Day pass--$15, Junior 13 to 17 year old Weekend pass--$40.
