We are proud to present our collaboration with Murray Edwards College, Cambridge. Working with an institution that shares our mission to empower young women through education, we hope to inspire more students to consider A-Level maths and go on to study maths-related degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) at university.
Pioneers and changemakers Amongst the GDST’s 100,000 strong alumnae are women leading globally in professions where maths has enabled them to become pioneers and changemakers. About Murray Edwards College Murray Edwards College was founded (as the third women’s college at the time) as New Hall College in 1954 by Rosemary Murray, with the aim of attracting female students with ‘creative and original minds’. It is an institution for outstanding women from all backgrounds, committed to improving the representation of women in STEM subjects, and particularly maths, at the University of Cambridge. Notable STEM alumnae include Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell, Professor Hiranya Peiris, Professor Katherine Blundell, Dr Mrinalini Dey and Professor Helen Rees. Alumnae from other fields include Nicola Walker, Mishal Husain, Sue Perkins, Maggie O’Farrell, Helen Macdonald and Claudia Winkleman.
