We extend our sincere gratitude to the Planning Commission staff for their exceptional dedication and hard work throughout 2025. Their commitment to the long-term vision were instrumental in navigating projects and programs during the year. We look forward to continued success together in 2026.
During 2025, Genesee County remained dedicated to shaping a resilient and vibrant future through several projects and iniaves. A central focus was the development of the Genesee County Master Plan, a comprehensive document incorporang our major programs and providing a vision for our communi es and residents. This long-term vision is complemented by major infrastructure investments which included the compleon of the new Genesee County Administraon Building to centralize county services, the site clearing and planning for a future recycling facility to modernize our materials management and sustainability efforts, priorizing trail expansion through partnerships to develop a robust and more connected trail system over the next 10 years, and working toward addressing local housing issues by promo ng housing to ensure our neighborhoods remain strong and accessible for all residents as we move toward the future.
We are looking forward to a posive and producve 2026.

Inclusive, Collabora ve Culture
Genesee County, in partnership with the University of Michigan-Flint, hosted the Impact Genesee Summit. The event brought together representaves from local units of government, the business community, non-pro ts, community advocates, and community and economic development experts from across the naon to learn and engage in conversaons about economic growth opportunies and best pracces. The event focused on proac ve soluons to community challenges and to develop strategies to create a path for community and economic growth. Key factors such as housing, broadband, retail redevelopment, sports tourism, and the growth potenal for advanced manufacturing were the major focus areas for the 2025 summit.
In 2025, Genesee County collaborated with the C.S. Mo Foundaon to look for opportunies to increase the pace at which our community builds meaningful trail connecons to schools, parks, and neighborhoods. This culminated in the Flint and Genesee County Trails Symposium in June 2025. Government leaders and residents from every community in Genesee County came together to provide input and soluons for improving the Genesee County Trail System. These efforts contributed directly to the creaon of a Strategic Trails Plan for the county, a comprehensive planning document for improved trail development.
