Life comes with a lot of lanes and limits. Guilford isnāt one of them. Here, thereās just one rule: freedom.
Freedom to explore what fires you up ā and to build your education around it. Want to build a robot that grooves to live jazz? Design energygenerating sneakers? Go for it.
You wonāt feel like youāre just chasing a diploma here. Youāll be too busy coding underwater drones, or recording a podcast in a converted greenhouse. And you wonāt do it alone. Youāll have a community ā professors, advisers, and fellow Guilfordians (yep, thatās what we call ourselves) ā whoāve got your back the whole way.

⢠1,100 students
⢠$8.3 million awarded in institutional merit scholarships to the firstyear class

The community here, the environment that makes it open to have important conversations and care about your classmates is special. You want to be more involved.

College isnāt just about stretching your mind ā itās about finding your people.
Guilford is a place where students hold doors open for each other. Where professors, advisers, and even the dining staff know your name ā and invite you to call them by their first name, too.
Weāre a community rooted in Quaker values like integrity, equality, justice, and stewardship. Thereās no high school mold to fit here ā just space to grow into the person youāre meant to be around friends doing the same.
Youāre not a number at Guilford. Youāre part of a close-knit community thatās about helping you succeed.
Our professors are smart, passionate people who care about your growth. They chose Guilford because small classes mean real connections. They want to know what excites you, what challenges you, and how they can help you reach your goals.
ā
Iāve
built some truly invaluable relationships with professors and staff. Thatās something I really hold dear. Other schools could learn from that, but Guilford seems to have perfected it.
ā

Curiosity leads the way at Guilford. Our unique liberal arts education gives you the freedom to explore what excites you ā and prepares you for a future you might not have imagined yet.
Donāt tell their kindergarten teachers, but our professors love coloring outside the lines. They routinely crosspollinate ideas and classes with their colleagues. That means your physics class may explore theatre lighting, and your business class might get their hands dirty on our sustainable farm.
I
was exposed to a lot of different courses and ideas at Guilford that have helped prepare me for life.
āLarry McMillan ā24 ā ā
Through it all, youāll be learning with purpose. At Guilford, ethics, integrity, and action are part of every class ā because we believe a great education doesnāt just teach you what to think, but also how to lead, reflect, and make a difference.
We donāt just produce smart graduates. We instill a sense of values and ethics that you take out into the world.

Founders Hall, like Guilford itself, is no ivory edifice. It looks out over our postcard-worthy quad and Greensboro, the thirdlargest city in North Carolina. On campus and nearby, Guilford students have all they need for a rich intellectual and social experience ā one that empowers them to make a difference on campus and in the world.

Guilford College was founded in 1837 by the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) as one of the first co-educational boarding schools in the country. We carry that legacy forward by teaching, learning, and leading through our seven core values: community, diversity, equality, excellence, integrity, justice, and stewardship.
What does that mean for you? It means youāll graduate from Guilford knowing how to think critically, communicate clearly, lead with purpose, and make ethical decisions in a world that needs more people like you.
ā
Community service is a big part of who I am. Thereās something about being part of something bigger than me that needs me as much as I need it.ā
āCarly Richards ā29 ā
Youāll be ready to take on real-world challenges ā not just with a degree, but with the confidence and compassion of someone prepared to make a difference.

Itās one thing to sit in a classroom but to go to where those refugees eat with them and hear their stories, ā

classroom and learn about refugeesā experiences, are, to live with them, learn their culture, stories, that to me is what study abroad is about.

⢠Decisions will be communicated within 3 weeks.
Guilford has various deadlines to meet the needs of its incoming students. Please check out www.guilford.edu/admission for those dates.

I came from an average family and a public high school like a lot of kids, but the education I got at Guilford I couldnāt have gotten anywhere else. People think they have to go to an elite or Ivy League school to get that elite education, but I got that education at Guilford. Now Iām working with people who went to those elite schools.
