Death is nothing at all. It does not count.
I have only slipped away into the next room. Nothing has happened.
Everything remains exactly as it was. I am I, and you are you, and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged. Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by the old familiar name.
Speak of me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference into your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without an effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it.
Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was. There is absolute and unbroken continuity. What is this death but a negligible accident?

Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just round the corner.
All is well.
Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before. How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!

It was there that he found the love of his life, Mildred Eason, and was married to her for over fifty-six (56) years. After graduating from high school, George enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for twenty-two (22) years. While serving in the military, he earned an associate's degree in business. In 1972, he retired as a chief master sergeant while stationed at Langley Air Force Base. He was a loyal, dedicated, and proud veteran. After retirement from the Air Force, he worked for the Newport News Shipyard and later for the Newport News Public School System.
A man of faith, George loved the Lord and woke up each day thanking Him for a new day. He was a devoted member of Gethsemane Baptist Church for thirty-nine (39) years. Whenever he attended services, he loved the preaching of his pastor, Bishop Dwight Riddick, and the singing of the choirs.
George leaves a legacy of compassion, a strong work ethic, and unwavering love for his family. For those who knew him, he will be remembered for his kind and gentle spirit, his words of encouragement, his politeness, his love of reading, and his coordinated outfits and hats. Although George’s physical presence may no longer grace our lives, his love and spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us.

Though his smile is gone forever and his hand we cannot touch
We still have so many memories of the one we loved so much. His memory is now our keepsake Which with we’ll never part. God has him in His keeping We have him in our hearts. Sadly missed, but never forgotten.
